Why did the #Bills win? A big reason was Boobie Dixon, their third-string RB. They lost their 2 stars, he gained 51 yds on 13 carries.

If you wanna win, put Boobie in.

Getting 1st team reps this week, and sharing with Brown will help him too. He was obviously very tired at the end of the game getting every carry and missed a huge block.

His size should help this run game due to the OL's inability to create any kind of hole.

Boobie plays my kind of football. Old fashioned smash mouth.
  2. I don't know about you all, but nothing gets me over a crushing loss to the Patriots than beating the crap out of a really, really bad team from the NFCN!! It's called a slump buster. She doesn't have to be pretty.

Yeah, I'm with you. A win is a win. I just hope the rest of the teams we play this year don't have good tight ends. We can't cover a tight end.
  3. well played sir!! we are a soup sandwich. i watched the game with my wife who roots for the pats--sigh. her comment was it is like watching the junior varsity versus the varsity team. could not say it better than that.

Luckily my wife does not watch football with me. When I was watching that game I was in no mood for comments like that. It would have been a dangerous thing for her

    or anyone else to say.

  4. Play a 33 D. The old fashioned 33. Go find Dareus right now. Tell him he is the glue, the anchor, the big cheese. That he is going to be tasked with swallowing up OL - 3 of them if possible while Hughes and MWilliams blow up the OT's every play. Aggressive 3 man fronts.

Put Bradham in at WLB and make him smack Gronk in the mouth every time he releases, no matter what. Let him then get picked up by Corey Graham who matches up perfectly to him at nickel.

Bradham watches the backfield, Spikes let's no one pass - Gandolf style he lays the wood at anyone who tries.

Brown seals the edge and watches the extra TE or FB.

Gilmore and McKelvin straight up man over with Duke Williams coming at anyone up the middle in a cover 3 form while Aaron Williams does what Aaron Williams does.

I could stop the Patriots this week.

This sounds pretty good to me. I think it might work on some of the Patriots offense.
  5. This is the thing.....

    - Boobie has been suprisingly good in training camp for a guy that we thought was gonna be a FB/ST/short yardage guy.......a north south runner that fits this offense well with suprising quickness.

    - Spiller has been absolutely underwhelming......

    - I would like to see Bryce Brown as well....but its a numbers game for the roster.....so if Boobie is going to actually be ACTIVE....then why not use him if he is effective?

I agree, There is nothing wrong with using a power runner instead of a dancer prancer.
  6. Just read something about Golden Tate criticizing the Bills for putting Schwartz on their shoulders. Said it was a b.s. move. You know what I thought was a b.s. move? His shimmying around like a golden retriever after a dousing, whenever he caught a pass and got a first down. I thought a good size 12 to the nuts might have been in order for that guy.

I was going to make a post to this but you said it so much better than I could. You sir, are a poet.
  7. We've seen this trend so many times, I'm shocked that fans don't eventually get hip to it.

If your only argument to support a player/coach is to make excuses about it being the fault of all the other players/coaches...then the player/coach just isn't that effective.

I have to agree with this. Not only in regard to CJ, but it is a good general statement. Good players will find a way to get it done.
  8. I got over my tennis toss yips. (Golf... Not so much) If JJ Watt was charging at me, I just might toss the ball to him too.

I think in the Houston game some of his problems were caused by JJ Watt going after his knees, remember the two penalties for low hits? I think that Watt got into his head with them.

For the most part I think EJ does forget things. As he was looking good in that final drive before the INT. I still maintain that Woods was interfered with and it should have drawn a flag on that play as you look back he was touched after 5 years and the defender wasn't fighting for the ball. That said EJ had other chances in that game that hurt us from winning and ultimately keeping his job.

I agree with you. The way they have been going after corner backs this year there is no way there shouldn't be some kind of a penalty on that play.
  9. They shouldn't bench CJ for Brown but should bench him for? FJax and CJ are in a timeshare that seems to work and Dixon comes off the bench. Should they bench CJ for Dixon?

In some games depending on the defense. When a power runner is needed it would be a good move. CJ is fast but he is never going to be a straight ahead power runner.

With our current problems at offensive line, I would rather they would use dump off passes to get CJ the ball. I don't want to bench him just get him in the open. But I would like to

see a power running game. We have a big offensive line, can't they drive block? I would like to see more of Dixon, I think it would slow the pass rush down a little. I know the NFL is now a passing league, but I am old and like the older ways better especially since we have quarterback problems.

  10. First time in this thread. Haven't read it all,but has anyone done the math in the OP?

30 yarder plus 9 two yarders is 48 yards over 10 carries.

    4.8 yards per carry.

That's stellar. Add in the Freddy/Dixon ground 'n' pound and we have the making of an excellent backfield. Brown replaces Freddy eventually.

    This makes perfect sense.

What happened to Dixon? We aren't using him anymore either. Maybe we just like to use our really good punter.
  11. The D line played well in run defense but did not generate any pressure on the QB in the first half. They generated only 1 sack late. Rivers is a great accurate passer but I was surprised their OL protected him as well as they did. I thing all the 3 and outs happened in the second half. During the first half, the Chargers passing offense were beating our defense like a drum.

Yes, This what I thought also.
