Sorry, I'll step up my game... I don't feel like "we're home!" on this kid, but I am more comfortable with where he is and where he has the potential to go than I have been since we had Drew DeadSlooooow here... I mean Drew was already ancient when he got here, but you knew what you were going to get, and things looked very up... Since him, it's been a cavalcade of bad to worse... question marks and piles of dog feces... But Allen brings a hell of a skill set, upside, great presence on and off the field, and I think there is reason for optimism... he could ***** the bed and all that will go away, but right now I think things look up for the first time in a VERY long time... Agreed... no way Erie County would be interested in a new stadium build, and on top of the cost of a new stadium, building on this proposed area would require MASSIVE amounts of infrastructure to accommodate 70K people in and out of there... are you telling me people are going to drive city of buffalo streets and use the Ohio St. Bridge, thruway, and skyway to get to it? I love that he's also getting so much one on one time with Kyle Williams to help him hone his skills. I would bet that Kyle would be a coach on this staff if it weren't for his desire to be home in Louisana to spend time with his kids now. He made a big point about all of that last year after he made his announcement, and I bet he doesn't want to be on a staff as a coach up here, because it would be just like being a player. He'd need to uproot the family, etc... but this year is the first time he doesn't need to do that. Rather he gets to enjoy his kids, but you just can't take football out of the guy. So he's up here for camp, but will go home to his family for the season mostly....

No, Ryan Groy signed with the Saints back in May, he's there fighting it out for a spot as their backup interior linemen. Sooooo No he won't be on the Bills 53 man roster lol Which sounds like a sound plan, until you take into account the fact that our Week 1 match up is against a hell of a stout front with the Jets under new management with Greg Williams. That Jets D is no joke, they added a lot of talent over there just like we have. If you expect to open up with a 60-40 run to pass and be successful against the jets and a shaky O-Line think again. This line MUST be gelled and ready to roll by week 1 or we're in for a VERY hard first game.

I entirely disagree that LA doesn't have a viable backup plan like the Steelers did... no one knew for sure what James Conor was going to be before this year. On the flip side the Chargers have Austin Eckler who started games, and last year as the #2 and spot starter went or 554 Yards, 3 TDs, and 39 catches for for 404 yards and another 3 TDs... in perspective, he had more rushing yards, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving TDs than LeSean McCoy last year as a backup. Eckler could step in and start for at least 10 teams in the NFL including the Chargers. Gordon is WAY over playing his hand, and with Eckler on the roster, I could see the Chargers deciding to try and move him rather than pay him if he refuses to report all year. But that said I don't see him going full on Bell... Bell didn't get what he was looking for in FA by holding out. Gordon is better off reporting and playing the game for more money than sitting out and over playing his hand like Bell did.

There aren't 32 "starting caliber" Centers in the NFL IMO... Bodine was a bottom 10 starter at Center for sure, but the Bills went out and added Morse because he's a sure fire starting Center. As far as a backup center, Bodine is probably one of the best in the NFL ... as far as a starter, he's one of the worst in the NFL... If this Morse concussion protocol thing is an actual concern and not just a way to allow a vet to work on his own away from contact... then I would keep Bodine. You're better off having a guy who COULD start rather than someone like Long who is probably going to be your starting OG, and is a piss poor Center... If you dump Bodine, and Morse goes down, you need to move Long from OG (his natural position) to C, and now you have upset 2 different spots on the O-Line rather than just plugging and playing Bodine and keeping the rest of the line intact. I agree with you, I think Bodine was below average, and his ratings on PFF Showed that, but I'd still rather have him and not need him than need him and not have him.

True, but you didn't sign a contract... if you signed a 3 year contract at your current salary rate, you would be told you need to honor it, and you wouldn't have the freedom to just leave and get a raise... On the flip side from labor, the company you work for may not have the ability to pay you more so you leave are are a mercinary for money, and they put the time effort and money into developing you and you are leaving them in a lurch to need to bring in someone else and put that time and effort into developing them instead. Where's the loyalty to them for the time investment they put in? It's a double edge sword, and neither side is 100% right or wrong. Industry will do what's best for itself and sometimes what best for the workers, and workers will do what's best for themselves and sometimes do what's best for the industry.... If everyone is out for themselves (industry and worker) then there will always be these conflicts... but no where do you have industry taking care of their workers to the point where the workers don't want to leave ever... It just doesn't exist... Long story short, contracts should be guaranteed... but that is also going to mean changes being made to salary cap rules and how things are accounted for moving forward, because all of a sudden over night the penalties for cutting guys would change DRAMATICALLY... so it would need to be a multi-year phase in process with amnesty "buy-outs" sorta speak where you can cut a guy making a lot of money, but it doesn't destroy your cap. Lots of logistics would need to be worked out, but it would make understanding the salary cap much easier.

To be fair for day 6 they were juggling a lot of pieces around just to see how guys do at different spots, and Morse isn't in there. But you are right to be concerned, if these guys don't gel together, then this offense is going to be bad again... It will slow Allen's growth, it will negate the signings we made of weapons for Allen, and likely cause us to not be a playoff contender. So it's not a small thing if these new pieces can't come together... All that said, we have time! We still have a week before the first preseason game, and then we have 4 weeks with 4 preseason games for these guys to get used to each other, the coaches to tinker, and for things to gel. The real work is done during contact practices and games, that's how the chemistry is going to build. Sure shorts and helmet practices are good for these guys to learn basics and know where each other will be, but at the end of the day the way they'll build chemistry is when the bullets fly knowing where to be and the tendencies of the guys next to them. If by week 3 of Preseason we don't have our starting 5 set and they are still looking shaky, then worry, but for right now, take it with a grain of salt.

This is something the NFLPA wants out of the new CBA, they want guaranteed contracts like the NHL have... you can cut a guy, but they're still guaranteed the money you have said they'll make... The NFL for years have had a sweetheart deal with their players because they can sign these inflated deals for $100M where they're still only on the hook for say $50M, and if they dump a guy early they don't need to pay them even that, they just need to "account" for "guaranteed money" against the cap, they are not on the hook for the actual cash value to the player... Guaranteed contracts would change the way the NFL does business over night...

I dunno Muppy, I am on the fence on this... Melvin Gordon wants an extension so he isn't risking injury before heading into a FA period... that's actually reasonable. Where as guys like OBJ and Antonio Brown who are vets with 3 + years LEFT On their MEGA deals, and they want more money just because other guys have signed bigger deals in the 1-2 years since they signed theirs... that's just flat out greedy BS, and they should be ashamed.... There is "get paid when you can" and "money grubbing dick bag"... I feel like most guys are just trying to get paid while they can... but there are definitely the money grubbers who make the rest look bad.

That's why there is no loyalty between teams and players anymore. "The Business of Football" has changed it significantly as the old guard of owners rotated out and new owners rotated in who were 100% about the money and not about "love of the game"... Ralph floated a no interest loan to the Raiders to help the make payroll back int he 1980s... that kind of stuff doesn't happen anymore. If a team didn't have the money to make payroll they'd shame that team into leaving that city and finding new ways to "maximize profits"... The league has changed, and the players have had to change as well... they're selfish, and they need to be, because the teams don't give a ***** about them... they need to get theirs while the getting is good, because there are a thousand college football players coming out of college every year looking to replace them, plus how many thousands of others in the NFL or other leagues looking for that shot too... If you can get paid... GET PAID! otherwise you may miss the boat and never have a shot again.

I've had numerous interactions with Moorman and found him to be nothing but positive, kind, and supportive of local causes. He donated both money and memrobilia to different groups I was part of without asking for anything in return, he was quick to reply, gave me his personal cell number for questions, and was wonderful to work with. Not sure where this comes from, but MR8 stands for my user name MoormanRules8 on the old defunct BBMB... the dude was a great ambassador for Buffalo as a player, and has never been anything but a good kind person in all the personal and public interaction I've had with him...

Yeah it's definitely cold but they have limited resources across the board with coaches, trainers, and time, they need to put their effort into battles they can win, and when a guy falls way behind with an injury, the sad truth is he's of no use to them and is just sucking up time and resources they need for guys who can play... So Cut him a check and tell him we'll circle back when he's healthy, hopefully something can be done at that point.

Camp Bodies... just like Asiata was... keep churning the bottom of that roster Beane! This kid is a candidate for the PS if he plays well... no way he makes the 53 man roster, but he could be valuable as a developmental project on the PS. Who knows... he also could get cut tomorrow in favor of "Insert any OG name here"...
