Thomas came home last Monday, and Nathan came come on Friday! I would have posted something out sooner, but time has been very limited. ;-) Thomas is a rather vocal little boy who wants what he wants when he wants it, but luckily Nate is a little more patient. I won't speculate about who takes after who... My wife's parents are here, thankfully, as four people on two babies seems much better odds than two on two. They are both doing very well and had their first appointment with their pediatrician this morning. Yes, Sunday morning. We had thought they might share a bassinette but they are just too big, so we are using bassinette and a cute basket. However, Tommy thinks he sleeps in a certain queen sized bed... Did I mention something about Tom letting us know when he wants something? One thing that we are finding is that while these guys are newborn sized, they are not newborns. Mentally they aren't eight week olds, but they learned a lot more than most babies at the hospital do. They both really need stuff to look at... So, after eight weeks, this will be the last of these types of updates for a while. Oh, here are the pertinants from this morning's office visit: Thomas: 7lbs, 3oz. 20in long Nathan: 6lbs, 8oz. 18.75in long By the way, they we due June 2. Can you picture carrying 13lbs, 11oz.?

He did that and somehow kept the stadium full. You are missing the point.

He brought in players to shift the offense from a pass first to a pound it offense. The coaching staff did not adjust accordingly and we found Sam Gash split out wide. This brilliance brought the dismissal of the head coach and the offensive coaching staff. His mistake was Gregg Williams/Kevin Gilbride.

The impressive thing is that he sold out more games in those years that Butler did in 1994 and 1996. The guy is one of the biggest reasons the Bills are not mentioned anymore as a team that might move to LA. While winning the SB or even making the playoffs is not the only benchmark used to judge him.

OT ESPN article about Biscuit ...

Actually he was pre 2-14... He played for the Bills from 1980-1983... I had a lot of respect for Ground Chuck! -
As long as he is filling the stadium, he's not going anywhere. He is doing a great job of that.

Congrats! My boys have six weeks on Noah... A lot of things just won't matter to you anymore, at least not compared to Noah... -

BEST VILLAIN OF ALL TIME

OK, on Clinton's watch, he had five major attacks on US non-military interests. Bush has had one and that was less than 8 months after he started the job. Basically his intel operatives would have had to be in place well before he was elected to provide any useful info before the WTC Bombing. That one was really on Clinton's watch, too. As for Iraq, do you realize Bushes own father's administration didn't go to Bagdad because of the potential political mess it would make? He didn't go in to gain votes. Do you realize the terroists are too busy trying to stop a democracy, such as it is, in Iraq and Afganistan that they haven't been able to do anything in the US? Do you realize, potential wars against Iran and Syria can now be fought so either country would be forced to fight two fronts? Do you realize that Saudi Arabia is primed to become Iran, only 30 years later? Do you remember the jump in oil prices back then? Do you realize that limiting drilling for oil in Alaska makes the Middle East a bigger mess? BTW, Boss Hogg came to mind, since it was Roscoe who asked... Arvind Sloane on Alias is pretty good. Darth Vader/James Earl Jones "evil empire" makes Star Wars what it is. The only other actor in those movies that could have stolen a scene from Vader was Harrison Ford, and I can't remember too many scenes with both Vader and Han Solo in them... Mark Wholberg <SP?> was excellent in a movie called Fear. DeNiro in Cape Fear, and probably two or three other movies. Vincent Price in just about every movie he acted in... -
Soft Spots for other franchises?

My grandfather was a Brownie fan too, except for when the AAFC and the AFL. He used to drag my mother from Fredonia to Browns and Indians games... I also roomed with a Browns fan in grad school, and an Ohio State grad. He pretty much rooted for the Bills back then because of Speilman... Of course, when Michigan ruined Ohio State's season back then, he didn't accept my consolation about how it could have been worse - they could be the UB Bulls... -
I don't know much about their life expectancy, but a friend imports Cavaliers. They are a wonderful, loving dog. They're not Shelties or Goldens, but... My Golden died last summer after well over 14 years with me. I got him when I was 19, and he was the one constant presence in my life as I transitioned from teenager to thirtysomething, and he gave a lot more to me than I gave him. He taught me so much. I still miss him. Someone suggested that you wait to get another dog. I think pretty much the opposite. I got Ozzie's replacement nine months before Oz had to be put down. Annie has never let me feel to badly over Oz... She is a blast, and we do agilty and some obedience. Of course, she worships the almighty frisbee and can catch it half of the time now... Anyway, unless you plan on grad school, I would definately get another puppy, whether it be another Cavalier or maybe something a little different. Shelties (pound for pound, they're more rugged than any breed except Border Collies), Corgis and even Pomeranians are a lot of fun and are usually very apartment friendly (not unlike a Cavalier, of course). They are also good with kids, and while you might not be thinking of kids now, you probably will in the next 10-15 years. If you start looking for a breeder, make sure you look for performance dogs, not confirmation dogs. A pretty dog is not necessarily a healthy dog, breeding for confirmation has made a mess of quite a few breeds... Lots of agility titles in a puppies lineage will usually indicate they aren't going to become lame. Obedience titles are good, too, as are field, and herding titles.

One more time: Who is our enemy now?
KnightRider replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dolphin fans are not Marlin fans 10 months out of the year. I hate to say it, but Miami is a football town. Boston is a baseball town, and as a city they have an inferiority complex with New York. They will never be a football town, because they don't play against New York's football team aka the Giants. A rivalry with the Jets is like a rivalry with the Mets (or even the Nets? ). Who really cares about beating the team playing second fiddle? Therefore New England fans just don't have the passion for the Patriots. That all said, the Dolphins simply suck, whether they are a good team or not. -
Philly column discussing TH

Unless Travis has improved his money management skills, he'll be in camp in July. If he hasn't been able to improve his blocking skills, why should his financial savvy be any different? -
Throw in Kultar! By the way, as a ten year old playing backyard football, if a pass went incomplete, we'd hang our heads like Fergy...

Roscoe Parrish combine measurables
KnightRider replied to Sound_n_Fury's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ther are two things that I see that make this guy a good pick. The first is the rule changes regarding the way CBs cover WRs. A smaller guy may have more success now ala some of the little guys Warren Moon used to throw to... The second is that this is a special teams pick. Last year showed just how important special teams can be. How many games were won by superior special teams? The ST had to rival the offense for points scored last year. It seems like getting a dominant special teams squad is a great way to stop the other team's running game. -
Moncton Wildcats hire Ted Nolan
KnightRider replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ever been to Moncton? Other than a road that allows your car to coast uphill, there isn't much there... Being from Buffalo, I won't comment on the weather. You do have to wonder how he could be so shut out of the NHL. Of course, I guess he has that in common with his players, too. -
Other than Kelly, Was Any Bills Player.....
KnightRider replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, the first person I thought of was Bledsoe himself! He did get a Kelly - like parade. As far as rookies are concerned, (when Kelly joined the team he was not a rookie) JP gets a lot of faith, compared to others. Maybe Bennett when he was traded to us, got the universal acceptance. Probably OJ, but I was but an embryo his rookie year. That said, he was very impressive in the Denver preseason game. Yes, it was against third stringers. But he was playing with ten third stringers himself, and he still lit up the field on his play alone. It's less to go on than we had with RJ, but, I also don't remember EM voicing an opinion when it was DF and RJ. He has caught passes from MANY QBs during his career. At his stage of his career, do you think he would want to deal with another unless he felt the team got better? He will have a hard time going to the HOF and it's mostly because he didn't have a quality QB throwing to him. A SB win probably would make up for that, and JP his his best chance to wear that ring. -
When Does McGahee Begin his Holdout?
KnightRider replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been wrong many times before, but, I thought when Willis signed, it the contract was laden with incentives. He got the money for being the 23rd pick in the draft, but that if he performed like he did prior to the national championship game, it would baloon to a top 5 type compensation. Assuming I'm correct, and given the current glut of running backs on the trading block, there is really no reason to hold out... -
Electrical Engineer specializing in Phased Array Antenna Design... Currently on leave after the birth of my 2 months premature boys two weeks ago. BTW, Tom is doing extremely well. Nate is still having trouble breathing...

If they're anything like me, there will be times I wish they weren't...

Today was crazy! There were 25 week old triplets born today and two of them endded up on either side of Nate. Because of the gravity of their condition, we were asked to wait outside for a couple of hours until thing settled down. If it calmed down, I wouldn't want to see things unsettled as it seemed like one of the triplets was always having some type of problem even when we were let in. However, once we got it, we were able to finally see Nate without the CPAP!(the fat tube on his nose) His profile looks just like the ultrasounds. In addition, he decided to catch up to his brother by skipping the little oxygen tube that Tommy has been sporting the last couple of days. Tom decided it was time to give up his O2 fix, so niether boy needs any assistance breathing other than the caffeine Tommy gets to control apnea. He'll get that probably until he gets to go home. ] Tommy weighed in 40g heavier than yesterday - 3lbs., 3oz. Nate was down by 30g, but think that was because of the lack of the CPAP apparatis. He comes in at a rotund 2lbs., 13oz. They both took their increase in food well and have a good chance of having the IVs removed tomorrow! That means they no longer need a Class 3 NICU, and could move to the Class 2 facility at Emerson Hospital where Jen could sleep there with her babies. It is also much closer to home and work. They have another hurdle tommorrow. Babies born at their age have a small chance of bleeding in the brain, which would severely limit their sight. Tommy and Nate will have have an ultrasound of their brains either tommorrow or Monday. So all in all, it looks like we have a pair of healthy (albiet tiny) babies... Now we just need to get them home.
-
It's weak, I know, but there is a pic of Tommy in my personal photo and Nathan is holding my index finger in my avatar... I set up a web page later. I guess they are doing well for 31 weekers. They are breathing without respirators, but they need the air blowing into their noses to keep the lungs from colapsing. But they are breathing with their own muscles... Time to go back to the hospital. Avenger, I'll PM you once things settle down a little. Thanks.
-
You have know idea how great it is to hear that. Thanks!

Thomas Paul was delivered 4/2 at 11:24AM weighing in at 3lbs.,5oz. Nathan Gordon was delivered 4/2 at 11:25AM weighing in at 3lbs. While the boys are in the NICU at Brigham and Women's in Boston, they seem to be doing better than expected for babies delivered at 7 months. They are having trouble breathing on their own and won't be able to nurse on their for a little while... I already am severely lacking sleep....

Phil Hansen played most of his career during those years. I am not sure whether he would qualify, though. Steve Christie kind of fits in that category too... Another might be Bryce Paup. I think he played three years here...
