Crosby question and prediction thread
KnightRider replied to OGTEleven's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only if the team then announces it is moving to Winnepeg or Quebec City... My guess are the Islanders, Ducks, or possibly the Wild. Sabres would be great, but no way would I get my hopes up... -
There is no bending or twisting by the owners. The NFLPA ratified the collective bargaining aggreement, which is a legal document. When TO joined the union, he accepted the terms of the CBA. He is violating not only the contract he signed with the Eagles but the CBA. The uncertainty due to the violence and speed a great point and that is why the bonus is so important. They get paid in the first year or two, and the team spreads out the cap hit. But they did get paid. What would be awful would be if a team tried to redeem the bonus money after a player was injured. The only time that I have heard that a team has tried to redeem the bonus money is after a player unexpectedly retires ala Ricky Williams or Barry Sanders. However, if I'm the Eagles GM, and TO holds out, I'd try to get that bonus money back...

Audi, A6 2.7T, 2001, Ming Pearl Blue, no upgrades, but I've change a few things in the computer to make the ride mode responsive and all the windows to go down when I hold the unlock button down on the key fob... Verba getting some interest from Buffalo?
KnightRider replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
D-Line was even worse than the O-Line. Remember Eddie Robinson? How about the Safety situation? The O-Line was not that bad toward the end of the year last year, either... If we are planning one handing it off to WM, and you don't have Bledsoe holding the ball for 5+ seconds, what do you need an Orlando Pace for? -
Verba getting some interest from Buffalo?
KnightRider replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you think the draft should consist only of O-Linemen? There have been other holes to fill, as I said in the previous post. My point was that a player drafted 4-5 years ago is not necessarily going to stay on ther roster. If we had retained Jennings the team would have been made worse because of his salary. He simply wasn't worth the price. The New England O-Line was considered suspect when Bledsoe was behind center. Suddenly it improved behind Brady. By the way, this thread was hijacked by you. It was supposed to be about Verba, and I got distracted by your crusade. If Verba came here for a year or two, that would be great. Just don't blow up the salary cap for him. -

You mean like Jonas Jennings, who TD picked in his first draft with the Bills? Also, the O-line improved as the season went on. It wasn't the "weakest unit" at the end of the season. As for the "weakest unit", the QB position was far worse the the offensive line. It was addressed. We will see how well it was addressed this fall. I would say that the worst unit when TD got here was LB, followed by RB, followed by a tie between the D-line, O-line, and QB. He has done pretty well with LB, RB, and D-Line. There were people last year whining about the high motor D-Line last year. That was answered last year. Hopefully the O-Line will perform to your expectations this year. -
NHL UFAs and likely bought out players

You know Scott created this really nice board called Center Ice. The only thing is he used the wrong colors... -
Pat Williams takes a shot at TD + company
KnightRider replied to Talonz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I can't remember the details, I think there were numerous out clauses in that deal, and they were pretty early in the contract... Butler's biggest failure was not the cap stuff. It was that he could not fill the stadium when we still had most of the SB team intact. -
Technology developement is not worthwhile? The only thing I can think of that would be better to spend it on would be the military.

To What Extent HAS JP Learned from Rookie Miscues?
KnightRider replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually there is a third type of confidence, where the QB needs to know where everyone else will be, whether it be WR or OT. He needs to know how everyone with play, whether WR X typically cuts sloppy, or Guard Y pulls slower, or even whether he can depend on his RB and TE to pick up a blitz... -
The only CFL aspect that's better than the NFL
KnightRider replied to McGill Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the score is tied 6-6 sure the defense should get credit. If one of those teams gets it to 9-6, they ought to have the chance to stop the other team. Consider the Comeback Game. When you are going into OT tied 38-38 (I think it was that) Defense was not the what won that game. The Oilers won the toss and marched it right down the field and should have won the game if the kicker hadn't choked. What might be interesting would be if the NFL did OT sort of like the 9th inning in MLB, where the home team gets a shot, but the away team doesn't... Like Rubes said, though, there shouldn't be ties, ever... -
Link Wow, the guy had more bad luck after signing with the Colts in 1999. Never recovered from the ankle break...

Half of that is when you are sleeping. The high temps are higher... It's only four months, but I would wager that the second half of May and the First half of October get you pretty close... The tough part is the lack of sunlight...

Your Favorite (best) and worst President Ever?
KnightRider replied to Buckey's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Best: James Polk- He kept his campaign promises regarding Manifest Destiny by accepting Texas (actually happened he took office) into the union, and expanded the country to the west coast by negotiation with the Brits for Oregon and by war with Mexico to gain the southwest. He did all of that in one term and got the heck out of there. Lincoln- Eliminating slavery was a truly noble cause, and it is a shame the founding fathers weren't able to come up with some way of phasing it out. He had the fortitude to do what they failed to do. Truman (and Reagan, for that matter)- He did what was necessary to end the war, and saved lives in doing it. Worst: Wilson, for the income tax. FDR, for Social Security and the rest of the Raw Deal. Also for being so close to the Rosenbergs. LBJ- for not pulling out of Vietnam, a country with zero strategic value, Welfare, Medicare, etc... Clinton- A modern day Rosenberg. Lincoln- who did more to centralize government than Wilson and FDR combined. -
What would Losman have to do to...
KnightRider replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There have been too many Trent Dilfers, Doug Williams and Mark Rypiens for me to say that. Nope, to be the best QB in Bills history, the team will have to be centered around the QB... -

Stats don't matter. But leading his team, consistantly removing Brady and BB from SB contention (like Kelly and the Bills did to Marino and Shula), and winning a SB would do it for me... -
Top 5 Reasons why Bills will make the Playoffs
KnightRider replied to WillyTK783's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO Sam Adams was our best defensive lineman... The continuing development Kelsay and Schobel will cover for any drop-off due to the loss of Williams... I would say that toward the end of last season, the DE position was a strong point of the defense for the first time since Bruce was cut... -
My neighbors were and still are Bledsoe fans, and were not very happy he was traded to the Bills. While they still think Bledsoe is a classy guy, their not so upset about that trade anymore... Alternatives to Legal Seafoods, which I think is too expensive, are the Union Oyster House, which is the oldest continuosly operating resteraunt in the country, and the No Name. If you like BBQ, the Blue Ribbon Diner in Arlington is great. Another place is the Wayside Inn in Sudbury, (Freddies home town)... If you do the whale watch, I would recommend going up to Gluocester, and doing their "duck tour." When I did it 4 years ago, it was pretty focused around the Perfect Storm, but, it really impressed me just how many lives are lost in commecial fishing. Your girlfriend might not find it interesting (my wife doesn't), but the USS Constitution is the oldest Naval Vessel in the US Navy. She proved that she was still sea worthy in 1997 when she sailed on her 200 anniverary of her commisioning... The other places that you should check are Lexington and Concord. Rent a canoe and paddle to the Old North Bridge, where the the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" was fired.

With expansion and free agency, I doubt any of the Pats teams could even beat the 1990 Dolphins. When a team's biggest star is the coach, the talent pool is pretty diluted...

Im surprised theres no word yet on Clements.
KnightRider replied to The Riddler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After the rule changes and especially after the Roscoe Parrish pick, I suspect TD sees the CB position as overpriced. The only way Parrish succeeds is if the rules are enforced. That drives a CB's value down... But who knows? -
top 10 albums last 20 years according to Spin
KnightRider replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no idea what you are talking about. The Beatles opened the US to European groups, but an American performer? nah... By the way, I don't care much for either the Beatles or Madonna . -
top 10 albums last 20 years according to Spin
KnightRider replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Considering I had brought up Madonna, the Hail Marys and Our Father's seem most inappropriate... I was trying to look at things objectively... for better or worse, (I think worse), there are the Spears, to the Twains that have patterned their careers after her. She still cranks out hits, and the Beatles nor any of the solo acts can claim that they did so consistantly over a 20 year span... That's exactly what I mean, although a case can be made that pop music has headed down that path all along... That's why there were white bands that sang the black bands material. -
Censored Nagasaki Bomb Story Found
KnightRider replied to Fezmid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Extremely interesting. POWs housed in a weapons manufacturing facility? The thing that never gets mentioned in stories like this is how many lives, both American and Japanese, were saved by Truman's courage to go through with it.
