  1. When Moulds gets hurt, we have an off season. It's been pretty much like that since 1998...
  2. What a silly thing to say. Fox shows the NFL every Sunday in the fall.
  3. Like I said, it was close. I belive they had the best defense in the league that year. Kelly took a beating that day, but we still won... Not long after, we lost Wolford and the window started to close.
  4. The things that slowed the K-Gun: No Marchibroda after 91, No Wolfordafter 92, No Ballard after 93... The NO Saints were the closest to stopping it, with a blitz when those guys were there.
  5. The question is from what are we going to take a step back. With the exception of the second Miami game last year, we were already three steps behind. If JP can hand the ball off, do a decent play action, and throw a successful screen, he is a step ahead. It's not like he is stepping into Kelly's or Marino's shoes here... He just has to be better than Bledsoe...
  6. Well said, although I would say both he and Aikman weren't throwbacks at the start of their career. The salary cap simply does not allow for a balanced team with the "prototypical" drop back passer because either the O-line has to be top notch, too, which means there is no money for the defense (Think Indy). The zone blitz just piles on the need for a smarter, more mobile QB. Bledsoe isn't either of those. By the way, if I remember correctly Kenny O'Brian was more a accurate passer than Elway, Kelly, or Marino. He just didn't have the time to get the pass off before he was sacked. He also didn't have Bledsoe's durability, either.
  7. What he said. I was all for giving Bledsoe one more chance last year. He had some of the best offensive minds coaching him, and he was given the protection he needed, two of the things I thought were big reasons for his ineffectiveness. Turns out that the game has either passed him by or he has nothing left in the tank. The coaches made it very simple and conservative, yet he still was awful. It really says a lot about Bledsoe when the guys, who turned Stewart's and Maddox's careers around, could do nothing for Bledsoe. Anyway, he was the albatross holding last years team back. I just can't picture JP being any worse. Getting back to the real subject of the thread, MM shows a lot of potential. Mistake free defense and special teams (not necessarily evident in the Indy game, but definately last year) are his first priority. Not a bad plan, especially considering his background and rep. He definately isn't a Parcells or Bellichek yet, but I remember when BB was in Cleveland, and he wasn't very impressve at first either. I am looking forward to seeing some progress in this year's Pat's games. We'll see...
  8. Sean Moran had a nice career in SD and the Raiders... Marvcus Patton did OK with the Skins and the Chiefs... Memory is a little hazy though.
  9. Norwood did not lose that game. Coaching and hangovers lost that game. They should handed off the ball and given the defense a rest. With the amount of time left, they should have run one more play. Norwood's leg strength was not why he was a Bill, especially on grass. It was like asking Kelly to throw 60 yrds in the air. Accurately. Ironicly, he was excellent under pressure and won a lot of games before his career went down the tubes. I'm not sure there is a another Bill who gets a rawer deal than him...
  10. I have a hard time picturing an $18M signing bonus coming from TD. Just because Bailey is overpaid doesn't mean we should overpay Clements. I couldn't find a list of potential 2006 FA CBs, yet, but, I am sure there will be someone at a smaller cap hit who could do the job. Just like Fletcher did for Cowart and Vincent was supposed to do until McGee developed into a starter. I would rather have depth than a star, anyway...
  11. The thing I don't understand is the lack of inflation today. Wasn't the price of oil the driving force behind the double digit inflation days? I bet it's part of a coverup by the Bush administration...
  12. It must be Bush. Same thing happened with his dad... How long before this gets moved?
  13. It worked for most of Mark Pike's career playing those eight plays a game...
  14. There were plenty of times when even JK in his prime was terrible in the preseason. Like I said, I haven't had the chance to see the scrimmage, so I can't comment on whether or not he deserved the terrible tag... I guess I'm putting words in his mouth, but I suspect he was underwhelmed in his one chance to see him in preseason. I do think it would be a great time to point out that Bledsoe was dazzling in his first scrimmage with the Bengals. That certainly was not an indicator of what was to come either...
  15. I was not able to see the scrimmage and have had less time in general to pay attention to how camp is going this year, (see my avatar) but, I find it absolutely hilarious that Fezmid's getting raked over the coals for his report. This is the guy who has been more upbeat (almost to a fault) about the Bills than just about anybody. How can he be "anti-JPL" if he has the Brocos-Bills preseason game available? (See his sig line...) Then again maybe Fezmid is trying to fill an icy void, by giving everyone whiplash... Maybe JPL had an off day, like Rockpile suggested. Maybe he only threw a couple of passes so the sample size is too small. Maybe the crowd noise was a problem. I don't think Fezmid is saying the sky is falling, though. He was really looking forward to being dazzled by JPL and was disappointed that he wasn't when he had a chance to see him play. That will probably happen to all of us on opening day, including those that have done an excellent job with the camp reports. JPL will have to adjust to the pressure of real games, but I haven't seen anything questioning whether his ability to make that adjustment, and that includes Fezmid's report.
  16. Maybe they should trade him to Green Bay?
  17. I hate to say it, but, in retirement, Marino seems so much more likable... Very classy. Same with Young...
  18. How about a darkhorse named Romney. He's done a decent job in Mass... Guiliani might win a popular vote, as would McCain, but neither is going to be nominated without blowing up the GOP. Ditto for Pataki.
  19. Relax! Don't got there then. I could honestly care less what you do. It was just an FYI of what Scott had set up... Oh, Scott beat me to it...
  20. The TBD Sabres Board... It's nice and cozy there...
  21. Fergy throwing basically two Hail Marys to beat the Pats. The goalposts that came down in 1980, 1988, and/or 1990... Jeff George taking a knee when Bruce was about to sack him yet again... Just about every game that Kelly and Mario played against each other...
