It was a good kick, but there was really no pressure in it for him. If he missed, we still would have won the game. There was no way the Fish would have kicked with ~1:45 seconds remaining. RB would have still fumbled, yada, yada, yada... When he makes that type of kick from that distance when we are down by 2, with 10 seconds on the clock, then I will be satisfied. Christie did it. Even Norwood did it numerous times (especially in '88). Lindell hasn't, yet.

I was going to start to counter some of your points, but your post was just too positive. The win feels great. I'm not the first to say it, but if we were to go 2-14, and the two were against Miami, I'd be satisfied...

letdown?

That's my worry as well. JP hasn't been the letdown, because, we weren't supposed to be depending on him. The defense, special teams, and coaching have been the letdown this year.

There are other choices of message boards if you don't like the tenor of this one. I'm sure they aren't so dim... To answer your first question, for stuff like whether not to bench a QB, I expect the coach, not the the WR, to be the spokesman.

I think you're right, but didn't JP blame Moulds first? I don't know what the best course of action is WRT who should start at this point...

10 months ago... I took this article as Moulds wanting Bledsoe out of here. Now I think he meant what he said - there should have been an open competition. We didn't through the preseason, but we are, now.

Nice post. I don't understand the playcalling either. It seems like we never quite have the starting D or O on the field. Fourth quarter, 3rd and 5, and the pass goes to Jonathan Smith? Where's Lee, Eric, Josh and Sam that the fifth WR is on the field for a crucial play like that?

Majkowski was the first guy I thought of last year when he was hurt. DM could have had a HOF type career. It's probably the worst injury a QB can have. Pennington should be just entering his prime, but instead he'll be lucky to be able to even sleep properly...

Maybe if he had a yak blocking for him...

Not in the red zone where it really matters. I don't know that it Willis's fault though. For some reason, we are yaking the ball out of his hands when we get inside the 20 or there is a third down... I don't really get that logic...

I think it depends on the type of team. Andre/Burkett (sort of) came before Kelly with Thomas coming later. Polian did the same thing with the Colts in Harrison, Manning, and then James. Neither are SB winners, but they are two successful offenses. Dallas followed the same pattern, too, albeit with 10000 extra draft picks... Other teams like the Redskins (Gibbs I), Giants, Steelers, and Cowboys (did I mention they had a few draft picks?) were known for great defense and a monster O-Line. The thing that muddies the water is free agency and the timing of when the cap explodes. That shifts the focus to the quality of coaching, ala New England. They get the most out of everybody, and no one is a superstar, and everyone is replaceable...

They shut him down early. If we had a built a lead (or even scored) the D would have held him. It's similar to what happened against the Steelers with Pat.

I agree that there might have been some type of adjustment before yanking JP and Willis... I guess I was spoiled last year with the Special Teams contribution, too...

comparisons, and there are planty of them. Did anyone else think running the no huddle early a pretty smart move by the Bucs? They used the heat to their advantage better than I can remember anyone else. They got our D sucking wind early, when we couldn't afford to give up any first downs. Given Wyche's history with the no-huddle, I wich he had Losman prepared to counter with a no-huddle. My hat is off to their well executed game plan, but I'm not sure they'd have gotten a win at the Ralph.

Or Miami in the second week of the season... The no huddle took the air right out of their lungs... BTW, the Chiefs game was in 1991...

Tampa running the no-huddle was a pretty brilliant move IMHO. It could have backfired if the went 3 and out, but alas...
