James Cook Opens Up On Losing To Chiefs - interview
BillsShredder83 replied to One Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall
You're right. And this is right. At the same time in a conference championship, DOMINATING enough to overcome refs vs a top tier team going for a SB trip is a tall ask. It's like having to win against the spread, and Chiefs started with +7. +7 refs is incredibly generous too. We had a chance to score on the previous drive for sure... but to have points taken away, and flip that into 7 pts for KC. Ended up being a 10pt call at minimum, 14 at worst. Nothing any of us can do, but it would've took a -7 to -10 effort to squeak that game out. Baffling the league just refuses to fix this. Make refs full time. Pay them. Make it an actually competitive field to get into, no nepotism. Add a chip in the ball. Give NY HQ's a choice to chirp into the game for major calls. I don't even mind the bad calls. Those are what they are.... the inconsistency of interpretations and enforcement is what's really ruining the game. Develop and enforce one standard. Not have 20crews with different artistic interpretations. Dictate these terms to the crews, it's their job. If they can't or won't adhere to those dictations, they can go call school ball -
A man of culture!!!!

Is their a coach on the offense thats worthy of poaching? Maybe a position coach that would take a small'ish promotion to come here? WR/TE/QB Coach thatd come in for that role plus like an assistant OC? Theres enough positions to help motivate guy. Isnt there a Gameday Passing Coordinator or something like that? Somebody who might be able to bring some of that Reid knowledge over? I know McD was on Reids staff at one point, but I dont even think he was D. Coord with Eagles (could be wrong). That was also a long time ago. Im thinking someone thats rubbed shoulders with Reid, and more recently than Sean. Give Reid our roster and I think he has a Chiefs run this season, hard to believe otherwise. If not, look to Shanahan or McVay's staff? Im not ready to give up on Brady, and Im certian OBD isn't either. Lets get him so legit help and build off the good things we did this year. Also, you always want someone like that waiting on the team, the same way Brady was QB Coach. If Brady crushes it and gets a new job, itd be great to have a legit talent being groomed, at least as an option.

Some thoughts on why we can't get over the hump
BillsShredder83 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Genuinely asking. Aside from the hindsight of it not working, why was this such a bad call? Was it 3rd down, cant remember -
I think if you look at it pretty objectively it is NOT straight forward. I'm assuming there's some leeway left for teams to push important guys through. We've seen way too many sketchy things go on with protocol and the blue tent

Not coming at you. But I wish Josh would see this and pin it up to his mirror this offseason. I know what you're getting to and you're not totally wrong. But we have somehow seen his ceiling go up every year. Pat is a baller, but he's at his ceiling playing awesome. If there's one person on the planet that can will this into existence. It's our guy. This is the logical next step. QBs age well in this NFL. Their physical prime is over and they still keep ascending, despite it. It's a cerebral game and we saw a HHHUUUUGEEE leap mentally and maturity wise this year. He just cracked that NAS tank this year. There's a lot left. Grab a nasty WR. build through the draft, spend wisely in FA. And let's go take a damn ring -
Glass half full kinda guy lol I like you 🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆

This sounds like the last step of grieving. Semi kidding, semi not. I'm mad, but appreciate this post and this team. Hurt me my whole life but I legit love my team unconditionally. This is really hard. Trying not to use hyperbole, but keep it real. It feels like a mini death. It's so sudden, and then it's just gone. Not the death of a loved one, I don't want to cheapen that. But-- Anybody who's ever had a falling out with a friend, and its a permanent unfixable thing. It feels like the death of a friendship. I think it's pretty spot on, at least for me. Similar sting. Take care yall. Despite the negativity, in my heart I know we'll win one.

The hope hear would be catch him with only a year or two on contract.... maybe having a competitive team and alpha QB, along with wanting a 9 digit contact from SOMEONE (not us)... would be enough to keep him in line. I think it's a solid argument that completely revolves around trade capital; UPSIDE: diontae johnson type compensation package might be worth the higher-end of a flyer. DOWNSIDE: well he goes full 2024 Diontae Johnson and has 52 men in the locker room wanting to scar their knuckles on his teeth. I'm sure Beane did some homework around his draft time: likely does his homework and tries to talk to a few people in the know with or affiliated with Pittsburgh. Maybe dude has a legitimate gripe (probably not LOL but Beane and staffs job to confirm or deny). Get your intel, assign a value... he's an a-hole were not giving Pitt a kiko Alonso jersey in value. Or: mixed bag, he's got some legit gripes about playing with bad qbs, but still has bad attitude. Maybe a 5th is worth it. Or: Tomlin lost whole locker room. Pickett banged his baby mama and Russ Wilson refused to target him because he didn't like the gangster rap lyrics in lockeroom. You really never know but he's somebody beane has to do his homework on and know is he red-taped off limits? 6th rder? Or is this dude completely misunderstood and we'd willingly give up a 2nd for a guy in the wrong home? Wish we could see THAT GM version of Hard Knocks. The gritty stuff

Probably not. Maybeeee if he's got like 2 years left on deal and are ok letting him walk, but absolutely not a day over 2 seasons. Call up Miami and keep in touch up to draft day to see what they want for that scumbag. Seems like he might have some interest in playing for us, and he's the type of move that puts us over the top. He's a dirtball and I hate him, but he's gunna be in the league anyways and I am so sick of losing I DO NOT CARE. Win one with a degenerate anchor on society of a player and then we can scout and draft only good Catholic and Christian boys from ND SMU and Texas Christian for all I care

Were able to run back all the players that made us who we were last years. Diggs off the books, von, Milano probably gone.. on paper sounds brutal but replacing him with a guy who basically played this entire season anyways, and saving a bunch of money. ^^that's a bunch of money before we even restructure/extend guys. Were in great shape for next year There might be an out for Knox as well???

Yes. Invest heavily instead of trying to play Moneyball at the position and losing

Insanity is dumping more draft resources into that side. Keep juicing up the offense. "Diminished returns" comes to mind with defense. It's an offensive league with the rules, instead of fighting it. Go with it. Doesn't mean neglect that D, but our draft and FA strategy needs to lean 60/40 to offense or even 70/30
-
Not to mention the risk is so minimum at over investing at the position. Josh will get these WRs to or near their ceiling. Worst case in going to the WR well "too much" is cupboards are overstocked, and we have trade bait. Look at the way our WRs have been covered elsewhere. Second worst case is they outplay what we can pay them and they get a hefty deal and factor into comp formula. Then you pay in free agency at the position and accept it for what it is. Don't pass up obvious pass catchers in draft, put consciously decide to spend more $$ at the position, and use draft capital to keep the positions we scout well to save money elsewhere
-
Insane to even pretend they didn't. Dude was in protocol for like 2 days, and then got a "personal day". Lol I wasn't born yesterday. They were clearly hiding his condition
-
Josh had a great game against the nastiest version of Chiefs defense. Diggs is off the books. Were fairly young. The OL is top 3 in the league, young, and have their contracts locked up. It's time for a huge Beane swing, we need a superstar to help put us over. Go get Myles Garrett. Hammer the DL in the draft. Add to the WR room. We're not far away at all. Chiefs are going to absolutely push in the Eagles shizz. I liked our chances against that Eagles team too. Mylea Garrett/max Crosby is where id start. We need a monster sized DT that can eat the run, and take on double teams. I kinda hate paying steady/solid guys, like top 12ish money. It's almost like a trap place to try and save cap money and sign too many mid level guys that kinda money. Tl:dr Fiji water is delicious, but a liter is $5.50 as opposed to $1.99. Usually smart to buy the cheaper one here. If we're talking a Corvette vs. a Lamborghini: this isn't the place you want to "budget shop" Or go land that scumbag Tyreek from Mcdaniels. We're a great team with above average coaching. But we need to beef up the DL aggressively.

Just got my first sign of the week. Watching BKFC (Bareknuckle Fights), main event comes on and the lead corner coach is rocking a Bills hat. Best part, it's at wells Fargo center in philly and have the card has been philly fighters. See Birds stuff all night... and this angel of violence ripping Buffalo!!! Go billssssss!

Honestly as much as I hate them from rivalry, they don't deserve to lose their team. They deserve a real owner! Hope they don't move St Louis feels like next up. Nfl is trying not to get sued. While I can't recall details I have read a handful of times that city wants to sue them, and had a reasonable legal grounds to do it... and the only thing was them trying not to piss all over their chances at getting one back.

How much time have you spent thinking about this game.
BillsShredder83 replied to Stroke 17's topic in The Stadium Wall
From reading your posts around here I know you're significantly older than me at 36.... but this is only the 2nd AFCCG I've been old enough to take in. I was hopeful the first one, but kinda knew it was a long shot. This one feels like we're due. I'm assuming your 4 year run has you better prepared.... not me. I wouldn't even say I'm overly worried, but this game has been every waking second since baltimore ended. Almost 0 exaggeration. First thought when I wake up. Every conversation with family or friends gets steered towards the game. Trying to get my 9 year old daughter to really soak this in. Telling her I was a few years younger than her last time we were in a SB, but I don't remember any of them. 31 years -

Wow, he was a hot name last year for HC. Anybody interested in bringing him in for a role, a la Joe Brady, in case we lose our OC down the road??? That worked out beautifully really. Maybe that guy is already on staff, but seems like no
