What that I judge people based on their political beliefs? You mean, like you just did. Of course we all judge people based on political beliefs, sometimes right and sometimes wrong. I am aware. When I see a child that has been raised in a religious school, brought to a religious rally, and wearing political attire.....yea I just might draw some inferences. I am sure you might do the same for different views. And what are you talking about intolerance and nonsense, who mentioned any of that? I hope these kids continue to get an education and have the opportunity to make their own mind. Where is my intolerance Oh wait, are you just trying to argue for no reason lol. Not all liberals are bad, same with not all conservatives from my point of view. EDIT: Though as a writer, I do like you crayon symbolism haha. It is just that the substance of your post is jumping the gun a bit.

A genuine question coming from a liberal. I am with you all that media and journalism are in a laughably bad and scary place. CNN and company are bad news sources, and entertainment and money seem to be the priority. There is a large amount of bias, manipulation, and inaccurate information. And this spreads not just from their TV station, but through social media. Okay my question. Don't you think the same is happening with a pro-republican agenda? Fox news and all of the pro-conservative propaganda on social media is just as awful. I think the news and manipulation on social media are both extremely troubling (to a degree where I want to ignore it), but don't you all think this pandemic is on both sides of the political spectrum? I hate the narrative that fox news and breitbart aren't just as biased and untrustworthy. I don't think either is worse than the other (and both are at an all-time low), with the exception that the less educated may be targeted more often. Agree/disagree?

I have my own judgments against who those kids likely are, who they will likely grow up to be, and who their parents likely are. And I would be willing to bet there is a lot of ignorance in their views. BUT, the narrative that they harassed and surrounded a native american appears to be blatantly false. Even the original video didn't depict anything beyond them being the people you described.

I think most of the people in this subforum are pretty kind and have interesting insights (even to me as someone who is very liberal). I am learning the 3 or 5 people that don't fit that mold.

I don’t think you are even remotely aware of what my point was, or what you think you are arguing. I’m pretty comfortable with the precision of my words, though I also have the awareness that I am posting on a message board, not writing to a court.

Im not disputing any of that. I hate the patriots as much as the next person!
-
No doubt. The manipulation through news and social media is perhaps the most troubling thing going on right now (though I do my best to ignore it). I may be different than a lot in here, in that I believe this manipulation is not only on both sides if the political spectrum, but also beyond just politics. its just ridiculous what people say, and how many people will believe it. CNN, msnbc, foxnews, and a wealth of nonsense on Facebook and Twitter. You’ll find a lot of lies in any of those.

Well what the ***** is that!

Sometimes you just can’t make this stuff up. Oh, wait.

Is it coming out that he isn’t a Vietnam vet!? I think the most suspect thing about him is that he has been in the center of these controversies before. Something is to be said about someone who keeps being the center of attention. It doesn’t necessarily mean he is lying, but it’s suspect!

Yea but it’ll feel great when the rams win...which they should have done 18 years ago.

I honestly do think the MAGA hats is all that was needed to drive this story. As a lefty, I judge anyone wearing a MAGA hat or a pro-life shirt. But I’d do the same to someone with a Bernie Sanders shirt. And I’m sure many on the right would do the same to a Clinton shirt or a hat saying SHW and Proud. i won’t condemn them of course, but I’ll judge (right and wrong). I won’t let the media or others use that pre-conceived judgment I have against me though, that’s the key.

Is it bad I rooted for the patriots to win against the chiefs because I (1) would rather see them lose in the super bowl again (it felt so good last year) and (2) I want the chiefs to have no success so they stay like us?
-
Now this is interesting. I was always taught two spaces after a period. And i think it looks better. But now there is a trend for one space always, which I just don’t like. and I think two spaces has been favored until very recently.
-
Haha that’s great
-
Ha. Well I never heard that gilt phrase so I’m passing time by googling it.

Sorry, but me saying I support humans more than Americans does not imply Americans aren’t humans. That is goofy logic. Saying you support a whole more than a subpart, does not imply the subpart is not part of the whole.

I’m aware, but thank you. Im aware that’s the theory, thank you. I didn’t say anything to the contrary. My immature comment was about how you started this discussion. Since you cant tease out meaning of basic sentences, I’ll spell it out more for you: I believe in the right to pursue safety. I’m aware that there isn’t a right to avoid harm... Is this a lesson on what rights actually exist in this country. I’m willing to bet you aren’t qualified to teach that lesson, nor do I need it. I said that’s my belief, not that it’s an actual right. It’s not complicated. What? Uh huh, I think I said in my opinion it services them and their culture. But ok. You want me to explain how exposure to diverse views, even those that are incompatible, is beneficial? uh google it? But seeing as how you want to argue like a five year old with me, merely because I have different views, I doubt you will. Yes, and my opinion is the opposite. I see that you failed to grasp that! What kind of goofy logic supports that implication? If I said I support the nfl as a whole first, and the bills second, does that mean the bills aren’t part of the nfl....never mind lol. I don’t think I need to teach you logic.

Ha, typo. Immigration is something I do basic-level charity on, but I don't think I would be up for supporting a formal contribution process. My rankings go: (1) me and my family; (2) people; and then (3) Americans. So unless I made it to a place financially where me funding something wouldn't effect my or my family, I wouldn't be in support of that. Good question though!
-
Honestly, no because a plan based on voluntary contributions likely wouldn't make any sense relative to alternatives
-
Haha, well aren't you then asking for my views on taxes, health care, and government benefits? But yea, I would like all of those things to be used to help everyone who needs it. I don't want to go down that route, but to my original point, the thought of a wall being a significant-enough aid to spend 6 billion dollars on or shutdown the government over makes me chuckle. Fortunately, neither the shutdown nor immigration effect me personally.
-
Yes, with the obvious caveat of a process that includes vetting limitations. No limits on numbers or participation in government assistance, though I would love to have our government-assistance system go through an overhaul. In other words, if someone from Guatemala wants to move to this country, there should be a reasonable path to get them here as permanent residents and eventually citizens. And when they are here, we should do our best to help them. I understand the logistics issues, but that's my belief on ideal immigration.
