  1. Poetic justice. Only the best. https://www.newsweek.com/january-6-protestor-capitol-riot-matthew-huttle-1846038 A court document reviewed by Newsweek shows that Capitol protester Matthew Huttle recently filed a document in court explaining his reason for attending the January 6 riot and asking for probation instead of jail time "Matt's offense conduct in this case—in 2021—was not caused by his drinking. It was a reckless decision resulting from Matt's stupidity and failing to think through his actions. Shortly after Matt was released from jail on his last DUI, his uncle Dale asked him if he would drive him to D.C. for the Trump rally on January 6," the document reviewed by Newsweek says. "Matt has his grievances with the government and the imbalance of power in the country, but he is not a true believer in any political cause. He instead went to the rally because he thought it would be a historic moment and he had nothing better to do after getting out of jail," the document states, adding a request for 18 months of probation from the court. His own lawyer referred to his "stupidity" in his request for probation.
  2. Man, rough crowd. His buddy Knox tells Wawrow, “you know, he did play on a torn PCL all year.” And the response is “stop making excuses, Kincaid!”
  3. And a lot of that has to do with getting the best record and the bye. I don't think you can overemphasize what their schedule meant to them. Christmas Day win. Rest starters the next week against the Broncos. Playoff bye. Next game: Houston in the divisional round on January 18. Any important player saw no meaningful game action for 24 days. More than a 3 week "bye." No rust, just a lot of rested and healthy players.
  4. Exactly. Just sayin' ... it ain't over till its over
  5. Mahomes is holding back. He does exactly what we want Josh to do. Don't run with it until it really matters.
  6. I know. Just kidding. But 13 seconds and all that ...
  7. Me? I'm reading the Doug Marrone thread!
  8. Obviously a newish Bills fan if you think having the ball deep in Chiefs territory would translate into a win.
  9. Loving this thread. Just the kind of news I needed to snap me out of my post-AFC Championship Game depression.
  10. I like how he waited until his dream job - JETS! - was filled.
  11. I would suggest you read the bill. Would it have required the custody of this Florida illegal after his 1st or 2nd DUI? No. It will require his custody now that he's "caused injury." After someone's already dead. And guess what? The liquor/bar/restaurant industry actually lobbies against these laws, the ones that add new punishments to DUI offenders. That's probably why there's no mandatory custody for first-time illegal aliens offenders.
  12. No. It shows how desperate a foreign leader can be to hang onto power as he lets his country collapse back into a narco-state.
  13. True, but ... Dan Campbell's swagger didn't help much in the playoffs either. I agree with you about McD looking nervous, but I think we need to be honest about our own team: the Chiefs are better. Better at key positions, with more playmakers, particularly on defense. We all got fooled by how they kind of got to 15-1 with smoke and mirrors and blocked field goals and other flubs by their opponents. But in the end, they were the best, most complete team in the AFC. We're really good, but they outplayed us. We really didn't deserve to have the chance to tie or win with 3 minutes left on the clock. And I'm not sure any Dan Campbell or Harbaugh changes that.
  14. I paid nothing for eggs since there weren't any available. Geez, it's almost as if the price and availability of eggs aren't dictated by our Chief Soviet Economist!
  15. What really surprised me was how unprepared we were to deal with KC's passing down pressure from everywhere. The common "wisdom" was that all-out pressure on Josh would just allow Josh to make big plays with his legs or escaping pressure and making big plays down field. Instead it disrupted the passing game, and KC's secondary was able to cover our receivers one-on-one. The big Hollins catch? No separation, just Hollins making a play on a ball Allen put in a perfect spot. What I have to conclude is that other than Shakir as a slot guy, our receivers still kind of suck, and Spags knew it and took advantage of it.
  16. Agree. 1. We were extremely lucky on the OL. No significant injuries all year. It's a really good starting unit, and Anderson is a beast as a 6th lineman. 2. The defense is really thin now. Benford is the only real keeper in the secondary. I'm not sure we had any business being the 11th rated scoring defense while trotting out guys like Hamlin, Rapp, even Rasul Douglas every week. Bernard's injury seemed to take away a lot of his effectiveness, and we just didn't find the LB or DL help we really needed. I'm high on Milano for next year - he won't be the same disrupter he was in his prime, but I think he makes a strong comeback next season. 3. I loved the Cooper acquisition. I don't know if he's wearing down or if we just didn't create the right schemes for him. Whatever it is, I really expected more of an impact.
  17. Benford has turned into a fantastic player, and I'm legitimately worried for him after those back-to-back concussions. He looked completely dazed as they carted him off.
  18. And it's also the difference between trusting your blitzing CB to get there and disrupt the play vs. being afraid that they won't.
  19. Every team has those quality control and video analysts who track tendencies, etc. Ernie Adams on Belichick's Pats got famous for that. Question on the tush push: what percentage of times they used it did Allen veer to the left? I'm guessing it was 100%. And it took all year for someone - the Chiefs, the best organization today in the NFL - to figure it out and finally stop it. I'm sure they're ready for the Philly version too.
  20. Bingo. Nothing to do but keep chugging along, hoping that someday you may be Drew Brees and the Saints, consistently competitive, and maybe one time sneaking by Brady's Pats and Manning's Colts.
  21. At this point, it's really just a question of getting past KC. Baltimore is a similar really good team with a similar future HOF QB. And no Super Bowl appearances. In a world without Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler and Karl Malone are sporting multiple championship rings.
  22. Elway got two at (I think) age 36-37. Steve Young got his at 33. And of course Manning got his second one at 38.
  23. Mahomes barely runs at all in the regular season. When he does in the playoffs, it adds that extra dimension. Defenses don't gameplan for it because he doesn't do it in the regular season. I hate to agree with JJ Watt, but I think he summed it up: some teams have the bad luck to peak during someone else's dynasty. Brady and the Pats, now Mahomes and the Chiefs.
  24. SVPG also had unusually short arms for a C-G. Short arms, the new market inefficiency Beane will exploit!
