At times like these, when Catholics are being attacked by the radical left, I find it soothing to turn to the Babylon Bee for some good old-fashioned Born-Again Protestant Theological Humor. Some classic humor. A basis for the Inquisition in the 1500s, and for a damn good laugh in the 2000s.

So now I've cracked the Heckler Code. I will go to a Trump Rally and shout out random insults. "Trump is a Felon!" "His penis resembles a short-stemmed mushroom!!" And then as security descends on me, I will shout "JESUS IS LORD" at the top of my lungs. And everything will stop dead, they'll allow me to stay and continue my disruptions. Anything else would, of course, raise the implication that Trump is denying the divinity of Christ. Or something like that. Grow up.

Meanwhile, Trump at the Al Smith Dinner reverts to his insult comic mode. Nothing clever or well delivered. Just plain insults. Kamala is stupid. Walz is a wuss. Hahaha.

There's a whole lot of other crap in there other than Jesus is Lord. And she put them in their place. Brat!

Only rhetorical if I don't answer. Answer: Kamala put them in their place. Nicely, but with a bite. Not like Trump suggesting the crowd beat them up. Well played, Kamala.

Viruses mutate. From what we knew back then, the mRNA vaccines were roughly 95% effective. A novel virus threatened to devastate our nation. Thank God it didn't. And thank the good people who took it seriously and allowed us to emerge on the other side with surprisingly little harm done.

The NFL is still wildly popular, more than ever before. So is college football. But they both run the risk of oversaturation. More games means each individual game is less important. More parity means the likelihood of two utterly mediocre teams meeting is higher. More bye weeks means weekends like this one where almost no game turns out to be worth watching. Thursday got assigned games we knew would be crap even months ahead of time.

I have an opinion. One based on fact. March 2020. A virus spreading like wildfire. Killing dozens in small towns in Northern Italy, then hundreds in large cities like NYC. A President who adopted a pass the buck strategy rather than a buck stops here take-charge man. First deny that it is happening. Expressing worries to his colleagues about how this may impact his reelection campaign/favorability rating.Calling for 15 days to stop the spread, then trying to punt everything to the states so their governors would take the blame. Waiting for a vaccine to take us out of this dreadful experience, and properly supporting efforts to accelerate vaccine development. Then trying to wish the virus away too soon, getting COVID himself, having trouble breathing, getting oxygen but trying to hide that, airlifted to a top hospital and given medications the ordinary man doesn't have access to, thereby overcoming his own infection. Complaining that the vaccine was held up; his supporters suggesting a deliberate slow roll by Pfizer so as not to let the benefit accrue to Trump. Then siding with nutty anti-vaxxers who called into question his own damn vaccine. A colossal failure to take charge in the only true moment of crisis his 4-year presidency brought him. Then finally, once he was safely back in Mar-a-Lago, watching him piss and moan nonstop about how the fates and the media conspired against him while the people in charge slowly, deliberately, got us out of that mess. Did they err on the side of caution? Absolutely. In retrospect were they too cautious on some things, like reopening schools? Of course. But all of that pales in comparison to the epic fail on the side of ignorance and self-interest that preceded it. The epic fail of Donald John Trump.

I think they told me that because they were trying to coerce me into getting my DNA altered so that I would become a communist model worker. That is clearly the simplest (as in simpleton) explanation.

A loving crowd! We all love in different ways. Isn't that the credo?

Well, that's obvious too. He'd be softer on Russia and would do whatever he can to pull the plug on supporting Ukraine.

Russia wants Trump to win. Iran wants Harris to win. Anyone disputing these two obvious facts is deluded, lying, or just plain not paying attention.

I love how Payton screwed them over before he left by demanding they re-sign Taysom Hill. Nix: best thing that could happen to the Broncos (who incredibly have playoff hopes) would be for Nix to hurt himself (a little) on one of those runs. I have a weird belief that Zach Wilson would actually play decently.

That's Bo Nix so far this year which is why Payton usually doesn't let him throw beyond the LOS. Doesn't look scared like Nix.

So I watched a bit of Kamala on Fox. She did fine! If the point was to be feisty and to take on the other side where they live, she did exactly that. Won't convince any Fox regulars, but I take it that wasn't the point. It was service to her base.
