I'm gonna go back a ways here - reminds me of what we saw in Super Bowl XXIII. 49ers with Montana, Bengals with Boomer. Bengals had defeated the Bills in the AFC Championship. Boomer was the MVP. On paper they were the more dominant team. And then Boomer looked like a deer caught in the headlights while Montana was ... Montana. Oh, the Bengals made a run and made it look respectable, but anyone who watched that game had to admit it: Montana was one of the very best to ever play the game. Boomer was a talented guy with some excellent offensive talent around him and an innovative offensive scheme. The Bills did what they were supposed to do this year, moving up another level or two. And Allen may certainly perform better if and when he gets there again. But sometimes you never do get there again. Boomer never did.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/01/23/buffalo-bills-fans/ Some really nice reminiscing here from long-departed Buffalo writer Harold Goldberg. It may be paywalled; I hope it lets folks read at least the comments, which are just as good as the main story. Days like this bring out the memories and make me proud to be a Buffalo guy myself (although I haven't lived there since I was about 10 years old) and a Bills fan. Bring on the memories, good and bad. But mostly good. It's all summed up in those two words. "Go Bills." I was born in Lackawanna, a scrappy industrial town 10 minutes south of the Queen City, where the steel dust fell from the sky like snow. Without a dad around, I was looking for a father figure. In my uncle’s car, we’d drive over to Henry’s Hamburgers, star tight end Ernie Warlick’s restaurant. Then I’d watch Warlick anchor the sports segments on the TV news. He was a standout beyond the field, a barrier breaker, a role model just like my never-swearing uncle. ***** The Bills run so deep in my high school friends’ blood, it’s like a mystical, shared DNA. When the Bills succeed, as they have during this year’s 13-3 season and march to Sunday’s AFC championship game, it feels like an old friend has succeeded. I’m more energetic, happier, more fun to be around. It’s not just me. My three pals kick into another gear, too. They tell Bills stories that are as ingrained in our lives together as any trip we’ve taken, any joy or sadness we’ve shared.

Well, we do know that Mr. Level Playing Field Trump issued pardons to the following levelers: - Jared Kushner's dad. One of his minions was starting to talk to investigators so old man Kushner set him up with a hooker to blackmail him - Steve Bannon. Swindled well-meaning but incredibly gullible people to donate to his private Mexico wall fund, which turned out to be a personal enrichment fund - One of the parents involved in the Varsity Blues scandal, who paid a guy to make it look like his daughter (woefully unqualified to get into USC) was a top crew athlete, thereby depriving some hardworking and bright kid from getting in and having a chance to get ahead in life. - The ex-husband of Fox's Judge Jeanine Pirro, who swindled the government by taking $1.2 million in federal tax deductions for clearly personal expenses - an eye doctor who committed the largest Medicare fraud in history - a real estate Ponzi scheme operator Now that's the way to make sure the common man gets a fair shake!

Super Bowl Tix now available!
The Frankish Reich replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I don't live that far away - does an 8 hour drive count as that far? - so I keep checking the resale sites. But that's too steep for me. I'm probably better off in my own basement anyway. If attendance weren't limited I imagine we'd see some decent tickets start to come on the market now, but I don't think that'll be the case in KC this year. -

Fascinating thread. Thanks for the bump. This seems to be roughly the moment at which our friend descended into true derangement. And correct: going back to the start you'll see plenty of eye-rolling responses by those subsequently "red-pilled" by the hypnotic writings of DR ....
