  1. At the time i really wanted us to trade back and take Benjamin but Watkins has a chance to have the better season now with orton at QB. I'd probably say Benjamin plus a second(?) from last years draft and next years first still being there would be a better value. Who knows, it kind of depends on who is drafted with our pick next year and who is available and whatnot
  2. Agreed, I wish some one would put together the total yards he's had that were called back by penalty this year..
  3. I bet they shut him out of the locker room only to throw his bag out in the hallway and shut the door again
  4. I don't think EJ was not throwing with conviction because he thinks too much as he looks down field. I don't think the greats over think it. They just do it. They reacted to what they saw. Gunslingers are underrated. Stafford a gunslinger. Jim kelly was, Brett Favre was. I like him a lot but being likable won't win games a$$&@!es who throw interceptions occasionally do win. I've been saying it, play to WIN the game you can't play NOT to lose. Orton will have a few bad plays tomorrow but I'll guarantee you he has enough gunslinger in him to have a better passing day than EJ has had this year. We will see EJ again before he's done and I hope he doesn't "take the opportunities", I hope he makes it happen
  5. I see us moving the ball pretty well. This could be a huge statement game for our offense as EJ left probably 100+ recieving yards hanging last week. Our receivers were pretty open on a lot of plays. I think Kyle hits those and that will help us with the run. I legitimately think this group of young players and "washed up" quarterback will school the leagues best defense this week. On the flip side of that is absolutely no running game from detroit with bell out and really only reggie bush, megatron is hurt a little bit... I like this game
  6. They wanted Thad and/or Tuel to be "system guys" who would know the offense inside and out by the time they ever saw the field and develope them long term that way. That's what I think anyway. I think they saw Kolb as the starter who would eventually be out performed by ej later in the season. I agree that it was not in the plan originally for ej to start the season. That being said, I would be willing to bet that ej takes a lot more chances down field during practice than he does during games. What about this year? Orton will probably get seriously injured because of our guard play and we will see ej again after the bye week
  7. Yup, Woods is a cry baby with a big mouth. That being said our OG play will become the biggest problem on the team when Suh literally rips Ortons head off. EJ will be practicing with the ones next week if they play as poorly as they have been on Sunday
  8. I agree with Watkins being more of a bad draft move. The sad thing is, we wouldn't have traded back for Benjamin ( like I was openly hoping for on TSW) but we probably would've taken 'best on the board' Ebron and it would have been a worse S%&$ show than it is now. It might not get to that point with Watkins ( as Orton will get the ball in our recievers hands). However, my concern is how often Orton connects with the opposing defense... If Orton goes 0-3, EJ goes right back in AND they release Orton or (depending on cap impact of his contract) Tuel sees the field before he would again. To answer the question, YES right now Whaley looks bad because of EJ AND Watkins.
  9. As a huge EJ supporter, I'll admit that after this past game I told my wife that I was "done with him". It's the right move for now and I think that EJ will be the starter again at some point this season. I think he was thrown in there too early and we really didn't have another option last year. We've all worked with ambitious people who nod their head and say "Yeah, I know. I know, I get it", when they don't get it. That's EJ right now, he needs whatever fire this is going to build to fuel a legitimate shot at being a successful quarterback.
  10. That was the last straw for me. I bet Marrone had an anurysm
  11. Bills, pats, Dolphins and Lions also
  12. I like just about everything about Fitzmajic but I wonder if the Texans know that they will end up 6-10? Should we tell them... Nah, they'll figure it out. He will play amazing.. for 6/16 of the game and the rest will be bad decisions and a couple picks
  13. most of those plays were later in the game after EJ had spent the whole time ducking and dodging defenders blowing by his OL. He missed some throws but I feel like he thought someone was breathing down his neck, because they had been. All game. He looks to me like a QB who had no confidence that his line would even be in position to stop someone from running free.
  14. The only thing that could prevent 3-1 is too much Watt for them and not enough Spikes for us. EJ will bounce back
  15. I think we will see Richardson on the left and Marrone will keep Pears on the right. That's not a good thing with Pears at right guard either. We can bank on seeing runs when Watt is on the right and passes when Watt is on the left. It's going to be tough calling those audibles on the road. The Houston defense is going to make it look like they know what plays we are calling. I know it's a strong take but I think us fans have known all along that Urb is the better option and yet Pears is still in there. As far as williams is concerned, he was bad and I'm just relieved that Marrone's hand was forced (not saying I'm happy he's hurt).
  16. Waney 2.0. No pass rush, rarely blitzed very basic defense. Man coverage is not our strength. We were a "read and react" dumpster fire of a defense. I hate to say it but Preston brown reminded me of kelvin Shepard and I wish we didn't take Spikes out so much either, atleast he can get his hand on the ball sometimes. Gilmore was better than McLovin or Roby today. I think Graham will start over Leodis from know on (after they watch the tape).
  17. Hackett's play calling was terrible today. EJ was off target a few times and Watkins didn't seem to be giving it his all (looked like he was trying to not get hurt). The biggest problem of all was the play of both guards and Urbik for that matter. Richardson was inactive which I really didn't understand... Last week I would have said Hacketts play calling looked good, but not this week. Too many bunch formations and not enough spread formations.
  18. Gates will play poorly sunday Stop Keenan Allen Run the ball enjoy the win
  19. Right on, EJ has been efficient in that range.
  20. That was a great throw, it would be impossible to throw it any better. It's pretty obvious you never played the game
  21. I'm waiting for someone to say we should have drafted Ebron instead of Watkins.. and when I do read it, I will remember how so many people on this board thought Eric Ebron would be the best choice for this team. What a joke. I will admit that I wanted to trade back and take Benjamin or take mike Evans at 9. Chandler is good for what we need him for and that is catches in the red zone. Hackett should try him down there sometime.
  22. Agree for sure, It's the best possible situation for us against Phillip, I do have to say that I loved the fact that he went after Sherman and shut him up (for the most part, until Sherman couldn't resist tweating). No Matthews helps us too!
