  1. The wife and I watched Broken Flowers with Bill Murray this weekend. The movie was so-so, but there is an unexpected FFN scene with the actress playing Sharon Stone's daughter that is worth the price of the rental - not to mention rewinding and rewatching a dozen times or so.
  2. '"Buffalobills.com is the information center for Bills fans throughout the world and our expanded website provides more insightful content and entertaining features for our fans," said Vice President of Broadcasting and Marketing Marc Honan. Sorry, Marc, but Two Bills Drive is the premier information hub for all things Bills rerated.
  3. Kinda makes me long for the days of Chris Speilman who once got ready for a playoff game in the snow by stripping naked and blasting the air conditioning in his hotel room all night. Now that man was a football player.
  4. Number 35 - A young Italian boy named Luigi is visiting the Milan zoo with his mother. As they are standing in front of the Elephant exhibit he pulls on his mother's sleeve. "Mama, Mama what is that a hangin' offa the elephant?" "Why, Luigi that izza the elephant's trunk." "No, Mama further back onna the elephant." Realizing what Luigi is referrring to, his mother says, "That is nothing, Luigi," and quickly leads him off by the hand. Two weeks later Luigi is back at the zoo with his father. They end up in front of the same exhibit. "Papa, Papa what is that a hangin' offa the elephant?" "Why, Luigi that izza the elephant's trunk." "No, Papa further back onna the elephant." "Why that izza the elephant's manhood, Luigi," his father tells him. Luigi falls silent. "What izza wrong my son?" "Well, Papa when I wassa here with Mama I asked her what ita was and she said it was nothing." Luigi's father ponders this, then a sly smile spreads over his face as his chest swells with pride. "Luigi you musta unnerstand, your Mama, she's beena spoiled."
  5. That, my friend, is too funny. Thanks.
  6. Thanks for the link. I feel so cheated. I was heaping praise on Chris for having the ability to rework a song with such wonderful results. That ability is something that AI has never found in a competitor. I guess they still haven't. Instead of the next Joe Walsh, CD is looking more like the next Joe Biden.
  7. That was great. Thanks.
  8. This is a bit off topic, but has anyone seen the GSN special about the guy that scammed Press Your Luck? He figured out that the Whammy only came up at certain points and that there were distinct patterns that the lights used to move around the board. The guy ended up winning over $100,000 (at the time a game show record). Larson and the producers said that they knew he was on to something but couldn't figure out how someone could "beat" their foolproof system.
  9. I know that there hasn't been a big splash in the FA pool, but I sort of like what Marv & Co. have done so far. Royal shores up the TE position and adds to the power running scheme. Triplett means that Schoebel will have some company when he collides into the QB. Davis is another deep threat and may be ready to step up to bigger things if EM is history. If Pickett gets added to the fold, a number of holes will have been filled. Add in a draft day trade-down to grab Huff at a more appropriate spot and I'd say Marv was right on the money. It seems as if Marv may have taken a lesson from Darcy Regier. I remember a lot of groaning in Sabreland when Darcy signed Teppo and Lydman while Toronto signed every used-to-be name with an AARP card. I like the moves so far. This is a young team and Marv seems to be going after emerging players with an upside rather than old guys with familiar names.
  10. The future looks bright with both Harris and Johnnie Flynn from Niagara Falls High School headed to the Orange. Go 'Cuse!
  11. Joke of the night: Stewart: A programming update: Singer Bjork will not be attending tonight as scheduled. She was trying on her Oscar dress and Dick Cheney shot her.
  12. In the words of the great Jan Brady, "Have I no voice? Am I invisible?"
  13. If I understand things correctly over 1/2 of the teams in the league are substantially over the cap and will have to purge players to get under. Those teams, according to Rick Speilman on the NFL Network, will not be signing ANYONE in FA. There are about a half dozen teams that are in the high teens to the upper 20's under the cap - they will be major players. Would it be crazy for the Bills to due a lot of pruning of their own - Moulds, TKO (who knows how he'll come back from the Achilles injury), Vincent, Reed, etc. - to free up big $ for FA. Then, when the FA bells rings, they do absolutely nothing - at least initially? The idea is to let the half dozen teams bid themselves out on the Shawn Alexanders and Drew Brees' of the world while the Bills play a waiting game. If it is true that over 200 players - many of them still in their prime - are cut, that should leave the Bills cherry picking at a bumper crop of guys that will be forced to sign for far less than market average. If they don't sign, they'll sit, simple as that. It seems to me that the stars have aligned for a once in a lifetime opportunity for an NFL team to cash in and overall much of their roster. Why not trade aging vets for guys entering their peak years and save money in the process? Tell me what the hole in my logic is, if indeed there is one.
  14. He also starred with Don Knotts in "No Deposit, No Return." Great actor, especially loved him in the Nightstalker series. LINK RIP
  15. There is an episode of the Andy Griffith Show where Knotts decides to get Otis drunk to get him to confess to some crime or another. His plan is to tape record the confession. When he plays the tape back for Andy, you hear Barney getting more and more sloshed with each fast forward. Finally, you hear Barney and Otis singing a the top of their lungs a drunkenly wonderful version of "Sweet Adeline." Situational comedy at its apex. RIP Don.
  16. Check out this video. The first two kids are very good, but the third kid - David - is unbelievable. This kid has moves that I thought only an animator could pull off. And to think we were once awed when Jacko moonwalked on TV. Robot Dance
  17. Someday that kid is going to post a video of his dad crying when he signs him into a nursing home. What an awful display of parenting.
  18. No, he's still free - but he's under a lot of scrutiny from Albany. Check out the Reporter Archives to see the full account of Hudson and Staba's writing as it pertains to Hizzhonor. Next time you come back home give me a shout - I'll buy you a Shirley Temple.
  19. Thanks for the kind words. I'll pass along your greetings. I was just with Mickey from the Arterial yesterday. Any friend of Stabba's should be locked up (but is surely a friend of mine.)
  20. Thanks, Lori! As long as beautiful, intelligent, Buffalo Bills' savvy women have my back, I'll always be prepared to face the slings and arrows of the masses.
  21. The TV guys in Buffalo are pronouncing it "Fuel." Let the diesel-powered "D" nicknaming begin.
  22. It's my column and I sure didn't expect to see it on the main board here. Before this thread spirals off in the wrong direction let me say that it is satire. I was attempting to point out just how ridiculous all of this squabbling is over the Buffalo-Niagara branding gold rush over the early years of this century. And maybe give people a few laughs in the process. Yeah, we're all morons in the media, that's why I hang out here with the smart people.
  23. He went from being the supposed frontrunner to a guy that wasn't even invited in for a cup of Joe. Considering the fact that Haslett is supposed to be Ralph's "All-Time Favorite Bill" and seeing as how he openly lobbied for an interview by expressing his desire for the position to the national media, it seems quite odd that he wasn't deemed worthy of even an interview. Don't misconstrue my intent, I think he would have been a disastrous hire, but it sure seems a real slap in the face that the silver-haired Glimmer Twins wouldn't even have a sit down with him. On an unrelated note - how embarrassing it must have been for the local media over the past few weeks to be constantly scooped by the national press as to the happenings at OBD. If I had to listen to one more TV or radio guy say, "We're desperately waiting to hear from John Clayton to find out if he knows if MM is in or out blah, blah, blah," I would have flung myself under the tires of Ralph's towncar. The Buffalo News and WGR have beat reporters dedicated solely to covering the Bills and the only thing they broke the past fortnight was wind as they waited for the latest scroll on ESPNews. Hopefully, the Marv regime will toss a few bones to the local guys before they dial up Bristol to drop breaking news.
  24. There were a couple of other interesting things in the Channel 2 report. The first is that Dick Jauron will interview with the Bills tomorrow; followed by Sherman on Wednesday. The second is that Adam Begnini (sp?) said that he had just gotten off the phone with Haslett's agent and they hadn't heard from the Bills and no interview was scheduled.
