  1. It's a traditional Korean 12-string instrument, but her playing style is very non-traditional and transcendent. Jimi would have loved it. Prepare to have a big smile on your face..
  2. Fixed - thanks for the catch. As a writer, mistakes like that drive me crazy, too.
  3. "A new attitude of excellence." (hey, I'm an optimist.)
  4. I started the thread in hopes that it would show that fans have no issue with sexuality and it certainly looks like they don't, which is a great statement on the progress we've made in just a couple of short decades in this country. I do think that this person is going to have a more difficult time of it then some of you may imagine. After all, the NFL did just have to chastise its own teams for illegally asking some draft eligible players is they were gay. I also wonder if some teammates might refuse to shower with the guy due to the pseudo-macho climate of the locker room. I guess the question I should have asked is: Considering that it's estimated that 10% of the overall population is gay, do you think this man's courage will lead to the other 160 or so gay NFL players to come out? Would be an empowering move for many if they did. (Just read above where there are stats saying the number is just 2% - whatever the numbers, I still hope all players can feel free to be who they are).
  5. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000153377/article/active-nfl-player-reportedly-considers-saying-hes-gay If it was a Bill would it change your opinion of him?
  6. I'm really sorry for posting that Tom. I get the sense that you'd never heard the song before and I unleashed the evil ear locust on you. I'll do an extra year or two in purgatory for that one.
  7. "I told RG III, it's not like throwing to Pierre Garcon or Santana Moss, but I don't think anyone could tackle her if you want to hire her," Frisco (the elphant's handler) told the newspaper. We need receivers - get 'er done Buddy! http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9099723/robert-griffin-iii-tosses-football-elephant-ringling-bros-barnum-bailey-circus
  8. Welcome - if your subsequent posts live up to the quality of your first one you're going to be a welcome addition to the discussion here. I can't argue with your logic, but I find myself thinking that the one huge error this franchise has made througout its existence is to neglect the drafting of a 1st Rd. QB. If they think Barkley, Smith, Nassib or heck, someone like Landry, Glennon or Manuel is THE guy - they need to roll the bones and take him. I won't ever criticize the Bills for being bold and being wrong - it's passivity that has screwed this team for decades.
  9. This song makes me want to skip the whole weekend and embrace Monday.
  10. Gotta go with George Carlin on this one, the rule change should be that in baseball when the pitcher hits the batter with the ball - batter is out.
  11. Dave and Promo visited my grade school and they supplied orange pop (and pizza) for everyone. Must have been a major sponsor of the show.
  12. Naaman Roosevelt anyone? Too slow, too short, no pedigree - just caught everything thrown within 20 yards of him and would play for the NFL equivalent of peanuts.
  13. The Bills, of course. Are we not fans of the red, white and blue or what? The Red Sox finally won a World Series and Lefty won a major so keep the faith.
  14. Yeah, I meant aussiew - thanks for the update.
  15. I think you're bang-on about the easy out for the writers. The FBI lead seems like a perfect example of someone they'll "flip" to further the plot. In fact, I think they foreshadowed it in an early episode when they had her slip him the Poe book in his cell.
  16. It's funny that there is a thread on the OTW section about a long-time poster that was driven away by the negativity of people on this site. Many posters said they would try harder to have more civil discourse. I posted this thread and many of you are bashing Marrone for flinging around hollow words. I understand everyone's frustration - we've all lived through terrible football and management that has stretched into over a decade of futility. That said, Marrone hasn't been a part of even one of those losses. I have no idea how he will do ultimately, but I am at lease heartened by the fact that he is in tune with the pain and anguish of the Bills' faithful. Glass half full or half empty? Your choice, but I'm standing with the half-full diehards.
  17. Our new leader speaking on what it's like to be from the cold of NY and why everyone should be proud to rock their Bills' gear. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2013/03/doug-marrone-doesnt-want-bills-fans-to-feel-ashamed-anymore.html
  18. On a side note - the first time the man's wife serviced him after the operation his penis high-fived her!
  19. I think they love her right back http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/03/18/paulina-gretzky-bikini-photos_n_2899971.html?icid=maing-grid7%7Ccat1%7Cdl7%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D285164#slide=2231837
  20. The Culinary Institute, Old Falls Street, Conference Center and Wine on 3rd are all jewels. A domed stadium could be used for far more than 8 dates per year. 7 years ago I formed and organization that grew into a 501C3 called Niagara Rises, Inc. Our volunteers work hard to do our part to change the outlook of the city. We put on the yearly Niagara Homecoming event - from which the popular Main St. Music and Art Festival took flight. We also sponsor a teen center at the NF Public Library that has seen many teens turn their lives around and achieve their goals of higher education. People can continue to dump on the city all they want, but if they take a good look around some nice things are beginning to happen. When it comes to urban renewal, patience is most certainly a virtue. I know, first hand, the obstacles facing Niagara Falls, but it hit rock bottom a decade ago and is slowing rising back up.
  21. As an American who works for the largest hotel in Canada I can tell you that Canadians flock, by the tens of thousands, each weekend to shop in American malls. Why? Because even though the US and Canadian dollars are near par, goods in Canada are 40% higher. Crossing the border is an immediate $40 savings on a $100 purchase, Also, the new culinary school is a gem. That, coupled with the casino and Seneca hotel is a nice start on a tourist section that has a lot of available land for a new stadium. Everyone thought Cleveland was a dump before they developed the waterfront with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Same with Baltimore with the Inner-Harbor. All it takes is a little vision. If you want to solidify the Bills in WNY long-term, the Falls is the best choice for a myriad of reasons.
  22. While we're on the subject of lost posters, what has happened to the ladies of TSW - Cablelady and Aussie, in particular? God knows the place needs the class of a woman's wisdom every now and again.
  23. I know music is completely subjective and one man's harmony is another man's train wreck, but I also know that there are many of you here that feel that most of today's music can't compare with the tunes you grew up with in the 60s, 70s and 80s. My girlfriend turned me on to the Avetts last year and I quickly became a huge fan. Saw them live last year and have tickets for the Artpark show in May. The were raised on bluegrass and have blended it with rock to form a very unique hybrid. Scott and Seth harmonize the way only two musically-blessed siblings can. They are great lyric writers and the crowds at their shows are an eclectic and intelligent lot. This is one of my favorites called 10,000 Words. I hope you like it as much as I do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugkLFwqslp8
