Golisano, Quinn & Brandon enjoy dinner together
ChevyVanMiller replied to Dirtbag's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Golisano and Quinn would be last on my list of local buyers. Golisano was an absentee owner of the Sabres that kept team payroll in the bottom third of the league. One of the great lines about Quinn was written by a Buffalo News scribe who said, "He always looks like he just rolled down a hill." With that said, when Ralph was still with us it seemed bleak that the team would stay in Buffalo after his departure, while now it seems nearly certain. So, whoever it ultimately goes to, I'll be elated. -

Sounds like a perfect Schopp & Bulldog show itinerary. -
Houston looking to trade 1st pick (Buffalo?)
ChevyVanMiller replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Normally, I wouldn't see any team, not needing a QB, pay the price to move up to #1. What makes this interesting for the Bills is the new ownership issue and the fact that Whaley and Marrone (and for that matter, Brandon) could be lame ducks. They may be thinking, if we don't win this year we could be out by next season. -
Former Jills suing the Bills
ChevyVanMiller replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm glad they are suing for being underpaid, for a second there I thought maybe the team had over-texted them. -
RD3#73: Demarcus Lawrence DE43 or Donte Moncrief WR?

I'm pretty sure that Kiper has us taking Lawrence in the 2nd in his latest mock. -
The biggest single reason why Niagara Falls is a prime landing spot is this man: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Milstein Milstein controls Niagara Falls Redevelopment and 140 acres of prime real estate just blocks from the Falls. He is bosom buddies with Governor Cuomo and headed the New York State Thruway Authority. Putting the stadium in Niagara Falls would allow the Gov. to swing millions of dollars in state aid to WNY and eliminate the eyesore that surrounds the state park at the Falls, all while lining the pockets of one of his best friends - win/win? You betcha! Oh, and if Jeremy Jacobs becomes the new owner a Niagara Falls stadium would be just mere steps from the NY State Park where his Delaware North controls all concessions - meaning he would make hundreds of thousands in AND out of the stadium each game day. The planets are aligned for a NF stadium and I would be shocked if other locales are anything more than token considerations.

Bills sign Punter Jake Dombrowski
ChevyVanMiller replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no idea if this kid has an NFL leg, but Moorman shouldn't be any sort of a lock. He's at the end of his career, with a diminishing leg and he's already been cut once by the team. I have a soft spot for Brian, but if a kid comes in and can hang with him I wouldn't be surprised if he (pardon the pun) gets the boot. -

One thing that scares me most....
ChevyVanMiller replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To answer the question of whether you would still follow the franchise if it moved to another city, ask yourself this question: Am I a huge Clippers fan? Yeah, me neither. -
Thank you, Mr. Wilson for both bringing a team to Buffalo and for never moving it while many other franchises jumped cities. I hope that the next owner of the team will have the same dedication to Buffalo that you did. May you R.I.P.

Done. Hope you don't mind that I decided to add another face in mine as well.

Personal Jim Kelly stories
ChevyVanMiller replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In 2003, when I was interviewing for the stories that would be contained within Buffalo Soul Lifters, I arrived at the Kelly household on a cold and icy winter's day to speak to Jim and Jill about the miracle known as Hunter Kelly. The Kelly house has a "u-shaped" drive and all but one spot was taken, as Hunter had a whole team of caregivers. I was driving my wife's mini-van and I had to attempt a parallel park to get into the space. Now, I consider myself the king of the parallel park and I pride myself on being able to drop a vehicle into the tightest of spaces on a dime. I got halfway into the maneuver and was at the point where you cut the wheel back when I realized I was on a solid sheet of ice and was stuck. I gently rocked the van back and forth, trying to get a tire hold on the ice - no luck. Now, I was stuck half in and half out of the parking space. Suddenly I realized I was going to have to go ring the bell and ask Hall-of-Fame QB Jim Kelly to throw on his coat, grab some kitty litter and help push me free. I quickly decided that was no way to start an interview. So, I threw the van in reverse and gunned it. Miraculously, I caught enough of a hold to get free. I drove all the way back out to the road and parked on the side of the street and hoofed it back in. Jim and Jill couldn't have been kinder and the interview went amazingly well. Meeting Hunter was a transcendent moment and I am forever honored that the Kellys entrusted me to tell his story to the world. As a postscript I'd like to add that I always tape-recorded each subject and then wrote the story later while reviewing the tape. I got home from the Kelly interview and decided to write the chapter right away. Thank God I did because when I pushed the "play" button the tape was blank. In meeting Jim and Jill, I had nervously hit the wrong button on the tape recorder and taped nothing but white noise. I quickly wrote the story from memory and sent it to the Kellys for their approval. They loved it and I let out a huge sigh of relief. -
Jim Kelly treated for cancer recurrence
ChevyVanMiller replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim is back ay ECMC and not doing well. His close friend, Dennis DiPaolo, says Kelly is in a lot of pain. “It’s a 10. The pain is just tremendous,” he said. Please double on the prayers for #12, he really needs us to circle the wagons for him in a big way! http://wivb.com/2014/03/19/jim-kelly-at-ecmc-as-he-continues-battling-second-bout-of-cancer/ -
