I'm going to respond to this thread one time and I'm only going to do it because I've been a member here for a long time and I have tremendous respect for the guy that started and runs it and the people that post here. I've been knee-deep in this for the past 36 hours and I've heard or read every argument that has been made pro or con. I respect everyone's opinion on whether they should donate or not and wish everyone else felt the same way. One thing that I would like to make clear is that Darryl Talley doesn't deserve anyone's harsh words because of this fund. I did something that I never do in life, I made a quick decision to launch something and I put it out into the world. Darryl didn't ask for any monies and last night I had a very emotional conversation with his wife about how torn they are: One one hand they are overwhelmed by the love sent their way and on the other they just don't know how they can accept such a generous outpouring that they didn't ask for. If what has happened causes anyone the need to lash out with words they can send them my way. It's my impetus and it's my burden to bear, the Talleys are innocent of blame. With that said, the kind words and love have outweighed that 100 to 1. The Bills were the top story on ESPN today and they didn't even play a game. It had nothing to do with murders, drug busts or any other scandal. It was all about the unprecedented donations being sent in from all over America by people united in their love of one man and his family. Despite the fund reaching its goal and the man it is intended for saying that he can't see how he can accept it, it just keeps rolling on. If you can't find some beauty and solace in that notion, I hope some day you will. To the OP, Tipster, thank you for your good intentions. To the rest of you I ask a favor, however you may feel about the merits of donating to Darryl, please put it aside for now. On Sundays we have the rest of the NFL to fight and on the other days of the week it often seems it's us against the rest of the nation. Let's not fight amongst each other when the subject is one of our own.

Everything is back up and running with the Go Fund Me page. Evidently, once you eclipse $100,000 there is some new verification to be done. Thanks to all of you, that is a nice problem to have. If anyone tried to donate earlier and couldn't they can now. Please keep the messages coming on the site to the Talleys. I know they are being seen and felt.

http://bills.buffalonews.com/2014/11/28/darryl-talley-family-overpowered-bills-fans-emphatic-display-love/ Pretty much what Janine told me tonight. I understand the position they are in and respect the pride that they carry themselves with. I believe, in the end, we'll figure out the best way to use the money for their benefit.

Just got of the phone from a heartfelt chat with Darryl's wife, Janine. She wants everyone to know that she, Darryl and their kids are just floored by the outpouring of emotion and donations. They want to thank all of the Bills and Mountaineer fans that have reached out to them at this time. She said that it has "meant the world to them." They also want it to be known that they never expected this flood of money and their consciences make it very hard for them to accept these funds. I told her that I wanted them to make the best decision as to how the money can best help their family. I also told her that people have given from their hearts and understand that Darryl never asked for a thing. We will talk again soon. It might help if you took a moment and posted on the Go Fund Me page and let her and Darryl know your feelings.

Just a quick update, Channel 2 was just out and did a feature piece that will run at 6 pm. Also, Charles Pellien from Bills Fan Thunder (they organized the Ban Bon Jovi movement) is partnering in and will organize a Talley Benefit. The monies can be channeled through his 501C3 so that all of the Go Fund Me money can go to Darryl tax free. Over $10,000 and counting, thank you all. PS- I mentioned Two Bills Drive heavily in the interview, hope it makes the air.

Just want to say that I respect everyone's opinions on what is the best thing to do to help Darryl. I appreciate DCTom's suggestion that maybe Darryl would reject any fan donations. I have reached out to his wife and will update when I hear back. I am one of the most calculated people you will ever meet. I don't do anything in a knee-jerk fashion, yet when I read this story late last night as I was preparing to spend today giving thanks for all that I have it truly broke my heart. I decided to start the fund because I thought of Robin Williams and how so many people said, "Had we known he was suffering we would have done something." Then I thought of Junior Seau and I prayed that we never wake up and read such terrible news about Darryl. I thought that by agreeing to the Buffalo News article Talley was giving us a cry for help. Not for money, per se, but to let people know he is truly hurting. As a proud man myself, I know how hard it must have been for him to show even the slightest bit of weakness publicly. Anyway, if you donate you have my eternal thanks. If the fund reaches it's goal and Darryl and his family refuse the money I will make sure that all donations are returned. PS - Mike Lodish reached out to me to say that Darryl believed in him when many others didn't and he will help his old teammate anyway that he can.

A Very Sad Story About Darryl Talley
ChevyVanMiller replied to norton20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See post #22 -
I know there is a separate thread about Darryl's sad situation, but I hope the mods find this worthy of it's own entry. I have set up a Go Fund Me campaign to help Darryl pay his bills and get the help he needs. Please consider donating what you can. If any one of us was in need Darryl would be the first Bill rushing to our aid. http://www.gofundme.com/hvkgjo
