Mentally, I think he's doing much better than he was back in November. Physically, he looks like he could still strap it on and play today, but he's very arthritic. He has trouble standing or sitting for too long. He said people always tell him how good he looks and he says, "Try walking around in this old body for an hour then tell me how it feels."

Had an amazing day Saturday finally getting to meet with Darryl Talley. Thanks to Buffalo Auto Show organizer, Paul Stasiak, Darryl and I met in Paul's suite at the Hyatt then got to sit down to lunch together and talk about the fund and what the outpouring of love meant to him. He told me that he and his wife and daughters were just blown away by the donations and the amazing words of encouragement that were sent their way. He said that he loves Buffalo and the people of WNY. He especially asked me to thank the people at TSW after I told him that it was you, above all others, that supported the fund and propelled it forward. Paul was kind enough to allow me to bring the teens from Lexi's Place (a group that I co-formed that helps bullied and suicidal teens find ways to cope) along for the day. The kids spent some time on the show floor dressed as super heroes. They also got to meet and talk with Darryl, who signed some items especially for them. One of the kids, that we call Boo Boo, even compared Spider Man tattoos with Darryl. Btw, Darryl told me that he got the tattoo on Thurman's insistence after he was repeatedly fined for wearing the Spiderman threads under his uniform. This is a pic of the kids with Darryl, that's me merging out of Boo Boo's head. Couple of other points of interest: Darryl likes the Rex Ryan hire and can't wait to see the defense this year. He is against a domed stadium - fully believes that his teams had a huge advantage due to the elements. Also said that their side of the field was superior because the sun would melt the snow on the other side then it would refreeze causing poor footing. Oh, for you foodies out there, Darryl's lunch order consisted of calamari, chicken wings and a lemonade (though he wanted a diet Mt. Dew). It was a great day and as Darryl said, "Thank God we're all on the right side of the grass."

Eric, as usual, your intel is spot-on. I'll be having lunch with Darryl tomorrow, I'll be happy to post a recap here afterward. Hope some of you can make it down to the show. Some of the teens from my Lexi's Place group will be accompanying me dressed as Justice League superheroes. They will pose for free pics if you have little ones.

This is really cool.

It was, if you'll pardon the pun, a very cool read. Should be in Off The Wall, though. -
2015 HOF inductees - Polian in!

Well deserved. Now we need to get Tasker in and make the Super Bowl teams representation at Canton complete. -
Tonight is the night that my good buddy Jb Aaron will show America that the greatest country singer and picker in the land resides in Niagara Falls. Jb is one of 5 finalists in the prestigious Country Showdown music competition in Nashville. Previous contestants and finalists include: Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, LeAnne Rimes, Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride. Jb is a great guy - I've done a lot of charitable work with him to benefit teens at risk. More than that, he's really talented and has put in his 10,000 hours playing every honky-tonk and watering hole from here to Nashville. Many think he is the odds-on favorite to win tonight. First prize is $100,000 and a national recording contract. (oh, and for those of you at the SD game this year, he was the one that absolutely nailed the National Anthem). If you're on FB, please take a moment and click on the link below and leave a message letting Nashville know that Jb and WNY are coming hard tonight and leaving with all of the hardware. Thanks, Frank https://www.facebook.com/CountryShowdown?ref=ts&fref=ts

Sabres on NBC-NBCSN 5 Times Next Season
ChevyVanMiller replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I'd hate to see the momentum of an epic 11-game losing streak halted by a week off. Good news is when they come back they go right into an extended West Coast road trip. Circle next Thursday on the calendar. They play in Edmonton in a huge game for the McEichel sweepstakes. -

Edmonton rallies from 2 down late in the 3rd to post a 5-4 OT victory. Sabres alone in last place at the all-star break. The plan is finally firmly back on schedule. -
NFC Title Game: Pack vs Hawks
ChevyVanMiller replied to Deranged Rhino's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What an amazing ending to that game. GB choked so badly. Why slide after an interception with over five minutes left and nothing but green field in front of you? -
How is "three sheets to the wind" not on that list? Guy who wrote it must have been half-cut.

Sabres lose and both Carolina and Edmonton win. Sabres now tied for last and my photo of McDavid and Eichel has completely reappeared. Who-hoo. -

MMQB: Why Rex Ryan Makes Sense in Buffalo
ChevyVanMiller replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Best lines in the piece: Before Ryan the Bills had Doug Marrone, and before that Chan Gailey, Dick Jauron and Mike Mularkey. Just try to come up with a more boring Mt. Rushmore. -
Sullivan really has outlived his purpose at the Buffalo News. He has a television show that he does with Bucky Gleason. I set the DVR to record it - figured it would be a good cop/bad cop kinda format. I was wrong, it was bad cop/worse cop. They both sat there looking like professional lemon tasters. Neither one ever cracked so much as the hint of a smile. They criticized everyone and everything with a holier than thou attitude and offered nothing but conjecture on every topic. I quickly deleted it from the DVR series manager.

Article: Bills who benefit most from Rex Ryan hire
ChevyVanMiller replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is there a second half to that article that wasn't published? It leads into the player breakdowns by saying: "Here at BillsMafia.com, we take a look at the winners and losers from the hires." Then only talks about the winners.
