  1. Agreed. Maple Leaf fans should be the ones that are devastated. Their team decided way too late in the process to tank to get the best chance they could at McDavid. Over the last half of the season they were the worst team in the league and their fans suffered through awful hockey. Before the last ball came up they had the best shot at McDavid, but in the end they got nothing for their tank efforts. The Sabres played it just right.
  2. Here's his bio: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Varipapa Looks like he had a great pro career and a long and happy life. Haha, yeah, there was such great CG technology in 1948.
  3. The shot where he throws two balls down the lane, one slow, one fast, and picks up his own spare is just amazing.
  4. I have enough trouble trying to make a regular shot on the lanes. What this guy did was amazing. http://youtube.com/watch?v=86te7nGLsAA
  5. I think Eberle is the guy they would be most likely to deal. 24 years old, RW, former 1st Rd pick. Has had 65 and 63 points the past two seasons. Would fit right in on Buffalo's 1st or 2nd lines. http://oilers.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8474586 Offer Zadorov for him. Sabres are stacked with young defenseman the way the Oilers are stacked with forwards.
  6. I don't think there is any way EDM is dealing McDavid. They've already taken too much heat for Number 1 overall picks that have underperformed. They desperately needed a home run and tonight they got one.
  7. Edmonton is going to have to deal a forward for some defense. How would you feel about a Nakita Zadorov for Jordan Eberle swap?
  8. One thing you can say about Edmonton winning the lottery - it definitely wasn't fixed. Last thing in the world the NHL wanted was McDavid going to a small market, Western team that now has had 4 of the last 6 number one overall picks.
  9. Keep the faith. Maybe we'll get lucky.
  10. Thought for sure this was going to be another Ivan Putski thread.
  11. Just played and the Sabres won 3 times in a row. That's it, I'm done until the real lottery tonight.
  12. For those of you that want to play along at home. Here is the draft simulator set up the way the NHL will select. http://nhllotterysimulator.com/#/official You draw 4 balls and each team has a number of combinations equal to their odds of winning percentage. After each draw it displays each team's updated odds. Pretty addicting.
  13. Haha, I've thought the same thing, he does look like Eddie Haskell. Just think how good he'll be at giving other teams "the business."
  14. I have to take the opposite tact and say it's a major upgrade. Joe B was so inarticulate that I would switch off the station rather than listen to him painfully search for words that just wouldn't come. Sal is far better suited for the delicate nuances of radio broadcasting.
  15. From the comments below the article: Oh, Wikipedia "In March 2014, she left ABC 7 to join ESPN where she was hired because of her Journalism degree from Northwestern University and a mouthful of teeth." Hahaha Still, if ESPN cans her, she won't be out of work for long. (See pic below)
  16. Sorry I can't join you all. I used to live in Luther Forest in Ballston Spa before moving back to WNY. Say hello to Saratoga for me.
  17. Thank God. Now may his name be forever forgotten by football fans. He deserves to wither away is obscurity.
  18. The video made me bust out in a big smile two or three times. Especially loved Thurman stating his displeasure with Marrone before telling Jim, "I handled it, just like I used to in the locker room." Then they fist bumped. Bring on September, Baby!
  19. Forever to be known as the "Len Bias" guy. One thing you can say for him, it's quite a trick when you can make Shoop wear the optimist hat.
  20. Sad sign of the tines. I had the great fortune to write a newspaper column for 13 years. It was always secondary income for me, but I knew back then that newspapers were on the way out.
  21. All of them (except Jessica Jones) were permanent or occasional members of the Defenders, which was a secret superhero "non- group." The Defenders comic, in the '70s, was darker and grittier than other groups like the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. Here's some info on its history and membership: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Defenders_members
  22. Another note: Netflix will also be doing Luke Cage, Iron Fist and AKA Jessica Jones shows then bringing all of them (Daredevil included) back for a Defenders show. Should be really cool. Too bad they can't add the Hulk and Doctor Strange to the Defenders show.
