Nice game overall. Great ball movement and they made the critical free throws at the end to keep the margin out of reach.

I agree with you about Miulson. I think one of the craziest aspects of his story is that he has Eichel living with him. Imagine how hard it must be coming home to his wife and kids, with them gushing over Jack's latest game-winning heroics, while he's mired in a season-long slump. It's gotta be brutal.
-
Agreed. I've watched it over and over too. The poise is amazing, not to mention that he was able to track that puck, peek at the game clock and make that filthy move on Ward. Impressive.

Wow is right. Shocked. Looks like they may have knocked St. Bonaventure out. A 10 seed, again, wow.

I agree. I often wonder in scenarios like this where it looks like you probably have a one and done squad, is an NIT berth better if you have a long run?

Philly reporter takes shots at Buffalo
ChevyVanMiller replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been to Philly twice and really enjoyed it, so I won't let this guy's insults sway me. Just a terrible piece of writing. Oh, and it's Lake Ontario that is 35 miles from Buffalo, not Lake Erie. So hard to tell those big lakes apart. -
You are the man, thanks. Btw, why can't I access any of the emoticons when I'm on my iPad?

Rick calling Eichel's OT winner. The best part for me is watching the look on Rob Ray's face. It's like he is fully realizing the amazing ride that number 15 is going to take us on over the course of his career. (This is from the Sabres FB page. I couldn't find it anywhere else on the web, maybe 26 can). https://www.facebook.com/BuffaloSabres/videos/10153909646057954/

UB men and women going dancing.
ChevyVanMiller replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
UB Men and Women's teams both win in final seconds to go dancing. Eichel scores with 1 second left in OT to lift Sabres to victory. Bandits send Tavares' number 11 to the rafters then go on to win. Buffalo Beauts play in inaugural women's hockey final and the Buffalo 716ers win yet again. Truly a great and thrilling weekend to be a Buffalo Sports fan. -

A "friend of a friend" has a nice kid

I was in a book store the other day and came across an old George Carlin book entitled "Napalm and Silly Putty." It was filled with a lot of funny thoughts, more than actual routines. One that stood out: "Aren't you glad that once your parents are dead they can't come back and fu-k with you anymore?" I thought that kind of fit into this thread. -
Not sure. For some reason they had them sitting on the 200 level to call the game. Despite my earlier post it was cool to see them as Eichel put in the game-winner. Rob Ray had a sly smile on his face that seemed to say that he was fully realizing what an all-time great Eichel is going to be.

These picture-in-picture shots of Rick Jenneret calling the game are really intrusive and detract greatly from the game. Please stop it MSG.

Anyone check out 10 Cloverfield Lane yet?
ChevyVanMiller replied to USMCBillsFan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
FWIW, I heard Howard Stern interview John Goodman this week about the film. Howard raved about it and said that it's one of those movies that people need to keep tight-lipped about because there are so many plot twists that need to be experienced cold. -
Exactly. The only move there is to drive to the hoop. Odds are you'll either score or get fouled, much better than putting up a 3, which Cooney only makes 30% of when he's been on the court for the whole game. Really glad the Cooney era is drawing to a close. He just may be the most overrated 'Cuse player ever.

Bills' 2016 Season Ticket Sales Already Over 52K
ChevyVanMiller replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fixed. Can't believe there hasn't been one mention of the impact of the burgeoning WNY economy. The fact is that Buffalo is reinventing itself and growing fast. Millennials have flocked to the city and decaying neighborhoods are now vibrant. The development of the waterfront has brought thousands of new jobs to the city. Furthermore, the Canadian dollar has tanked. It was estimated that 20% of the game day crowd was from our neighbors to the North. One would have to guess that many of them have opted out due to a .70 exchange rate, so WNYers are picking up the slack and then some. Remember when we thought the team would move after Ralph's passing? One of the arguments given, since the days of Bob Lanier, was always that "there just aren't enough people in WNY that can afford the tickets. That worm has turned. Come on up for the rising. -

Well, it was great to see Jody Gage finally get a goal tonight. LOL Great game by the Sabres.

I went to the game last night, first one I've seen live this season. McDavid was spectacular, but don't be quick to write off Eichel. Jack makes great plays throughout the game and is great defensively, too. He also won a lot of big draws in the game. One advantage McDavid has over him right now is better quality line mates. Often on Jack's shifts he makes a great pass that his teammate can't handle, they lose the puck and it!s shift over. Kane seems an especially bad fit to be skating with Eichel - a puck hog that takes a lot of bad angle shots that produce no rebounds out front. I trust that GMTM will use FA and the trade route to give Jack a first rate line to play on next year. Keep the faith, Eich will go down as an all-time great Sabre. As a side note, exiting the arena last night was a nightmare. The sidewalks were caked in ice, with a lot of people slipping and falling on their way to their cars. The ride home was treacherous with a lit of police lights flashing at the scene of accidents. Was happy to get home unscathed.
