  1. Funny Fredonia camp story: I attended camp one day in the late ‘80s, when my oldest son was just a toddler. I brought a Wilson NFL football to get signatures as a keepsake for my son. In those days there were maybe 100 fans at the camp on any given day. Nothing like today. I was having great success getting quite a few signatures on the ball. Fred Smerlas was walking towards me as the players were headed in for lunch. He looked really intimidating, but I decided to take a chance and ask him if he would sign the ball. Without saying a word he took the ball and my sharpie away from me and continued to walk toward the dining hall. There was a gate in a fence that the players went through that the fans were not allowed to cross. He went through with the ball and kept walking. I figured at that point the ball was gone. Then he stopped, signed it, and walked back over and threw it up over the fence to me and handed me the sharpie through the chain link. And just for a second he broke character and with a quick smile said, “Gotcha!” Full circle moment, decades later when I started the Go Fund Me for Darryl Talley, once it went viral, Smerlas went on Twitter and tweeted out that he loved me. 😀
  2. What an amazing milestone for the Eight-Time Goalie of the Year.
  3. Her: You sure love to beat people over the head with your vocabulary, don’t you? Me: I think the word you’re looking for is “bludgeon.”
  4. The Bandits battled back from 3 down late in the 4th, but fall in OT 11-10.
  5. One of the greatest of all-time. Have to admire the moxie to name all of your sons George, as well. Must have been confusing as all get out when the phone rang and the caller asked to speak to George. RIP, Champ.
  6. Bandits in Albany tonight to take on the Firewolves at 7:30 pm. We'll see how they do on a back-to-back with cross-state travel. https://www.nll.com/game/703308834/buffalo-bandits-vs-albany-firewolves/2025-03-22/
  7. With last night’s win the first-place Bandits clinched a spot in the playoffs. Never any doubt.
  8. Things get sloppy, but Bandits close out the win 13-10.
  9. Bandits are routing the Desert Dogs and lead 11–2 at the half.
  10. The Bandits play a rare Friday night game tonight at 7:30 PM.
  11. Swen Nater, Buffalo Braves center. When I was a kid I read in the Buffalo News that he had gotten married and was wearing his wedding ring laced into his sneakers during games. I brought binoculars to the next game and clearly saw the ring from my seats in the upper reds.
  12. Admit it, you just did it and are amazed that it’s spot on.
