  1. I haven't found a Bills bar in MD. Guess, watch from the couch... I'm confident we're going to have a good draft! Times, they are a changin'!! Go Bills!
  2. I think QB hungry teams at the top will pick QB or someone trades up after the first one comes of the board. Manziel and Bortles should be gone in the top 8. We'll see Thursday! Go Bills!!
  3. Maybe not, but you can't argue with his pedigree. For now the focus is on Matthews, the latest link in an impressive football lineage which has given us Clay Jr. (Jake's uncle), who played 19 seasons as a linebacker for Cleveland and Atlanta, and Clay III (his cousin), the current Packers' superstar, as well as Jake's father Bruce, a Hall of Famer who made 10 All-Pro teams during his brilliant 19-year career with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Oilers/Tennessee Titans franchise. ... you'll also find that Clay Matthews Sr. (granddad) also played four NFL seasons with San Francisco in the 1950s, and Clay III's brother is a special-teamer on the Eagles (Casey). Meanwhile, Jake's brothers, Kevin and Mike, have both played center at Texas A&M. I'd love for him to be available at 9. I assumed you were speaking OT..Go Bills!
  4. I'd be fine with your scenario of OT/TE, but I am not convinced TE is a position of tremendous need for us. I would take any of the top three OTs and am hoping for Mathews. Lewan is going to be an excellent OT in the league. A bit of a reach for 9 but fills a huge need and should be a fixture for years to come. RT vs LT is old news and will continue to change in dynamic. Two solid OTs who can run and pass block are essential to our success. TE is a nice to have. Real nice to have, so I am good with a TE at 2 and we will likely have one of the top three available. So in your scenario, we get the second or third best OT on paper, the second or third TE. Both areas in need of upgrade at a minimum. I would keep looking for value at DE and Safety later. I am really against trading up unless it lands us Watkins or Clowney at a reasonable price. We can't afford to give up our 1 next year and I'd rather not part with our two this year either. We are more than a player away from being a contender. We really need to hit on our picks to make up for past years blunders. Trading down if it brings in more high picks is a nice option too, but I think it is safer to stay with OT/TE/WR/DE/S/DB as the order of picks adjusting if BPA slides.
  5. Immunotherapy is being studied as a more natural way to treat cancer by stimulating the body's own defense system to recognize cancers as foreign to the body. Cancer is simply uncontrolled growth of cells. They are complex in that the cells change and aren't simply a single cell type. Multiple forms to these cells may exist that are then difficult to target for with traditional therapies. Cancer immunotherapy attempts to stimulate the immune system to reject and destroy the spectrum of these tumors. There have been fantastic results in earlier stage studies with many of these therapies being fast tracked through to the phase III level. These new biologics may allow us to control and treat cancer much like we control and treat diabetes.
  6. no, oh no! He's middle of the road, over paid and past his prime.
  7. I think we really are that thin. We have a lot of servicable starters and not much depth. True for most teams, but not the elite. You can't come up with six positions where we could use an upgrade? My wish list includes upgrades of 3 on the OL, 1 LB, 1 DE, 1TE, 1WR, 1S plus adding depth and maybe, just maybe having to draft a starting QB. And what are the odds of the Bills actually hitting on all 6 picks? We need as many as we can get. Trading down sounds more realistic IMO.
  8. We are way too thin to trade away multiple high level picks for anyone in this draft. We need to hit on rounds 1-3 this year and next year. If EJ turns out to be a bust, we draft a QB number 1 next year. No possible way to justify that we move up.
  9. ...and 50% of all players end up rated in the bottom half for their position....
  10. This thread is one more reason why the draft needs to be in April. I don't think this even comes up if we had something else to discuss at this point.
  11. Glad to see a lot more tolerance for an OT at 9. Remember, we are talking a premier OT, not another shlub. Huge and athletic OL are not going to be available in the 3/4 rounds. Bookend OTs and Wood in the middle is a very solid base for the OL which could if contracts are handled right, be in place for the next decade. Find the right OGs to complement and we have a winner. EJ has the arm strength to keep Ds honest provided he has time to throw. RBs will gain yardage in chunks. Keep the D off the field a bit more and they are top 5 worthy. Kind of gets exciting, but first they need a dominating OL. If we can trade back and still get a Zack Martin or Lewan, I think that would be great. I just don't see that happening. Mathews would be my hope, but even that is probably not likely. I see an unpopular pick of Lewan at 9 headed our way and though it sounds less than ideal, I'd be fine with it as worst case scenario. Just my opinion. And here I thought sarcasm was dead! +1
  12. Well good luck with your new team! The Bills will make the smart pick at 9 and grab an OT. He will start at RT this year and we'll see what happens down the road. I for one, could never give up on my team because I disagree with their draft selection.
  13. Missing on a legitimate back up QB once Kolb went down was a big miss last year. We seem better positioned at this point but could use an upgrade.
  14. I think the board is under on this guys potential. I lived in KC for a while and he was a legitimate threat albeit on some pretty awful Chief teams hence his relatively low numbers. He only seems able to play the even years, so 2014 is looking good! I'm also not down on Chandler. Between the two and Gragg we seem well positioned at TE. If we could land a Graham level TE no one would argue to do so. I'm not convinced Ebron is near that level. Using a 2 on one of the others seems like a luxury to me that we can't afford. Too many other holes. OL, S, WR and LB would still be my priorities.
  15. Wow, talk about defensive. Dude - chill out. You're entitled to your opinion as are the others. If they draft an OT at 9 they are drafting a OL who may start at RT or may develop into a LT later. Having two good OTs is a problem I'd welcome after the OL disaster of the past decade. Really, the OL wasn't that bad? Did you watch games last year? I really believe that the gap in pay between LT and RT will continue to close in the coming years. Maybe never completely but narrow. The top RT is at about #13 verses LT. Pass rush specialists are becoming the norm to rush from both sides of the line. Pass happy league, more pass rushers to counter and now bookend OTs will be the response. Your last statement is simply validation that you've let this discussion become too emotional or you need your medication adjusted. The Bills will draft an OT at 9 and we'll be a better team for years to come because of it. You can bank on it.
  16. Look, all we can do is fill the stadium every Sunday and hope that a local owner is found or at least an owner who respects the city and its fans. The fans of WNY supported this team through some of the most abysmal football on record. (I grew up in the 70's thinking we would never beat the fins.) The reason it is valued at close to 1B and didn't fold up long ago, are the BB fans. If the stadium is full and the area continues to support the team through merchandising, I don't think a new owner would gamble on moving a team for potential gain. Toronto, London, etc are major risks. LA has failed at least 2x in my memory. Get a stadium built (I like the option of the west side of Amherst) and there is no way this team moves.
  17. Yeah, I will admit my dark secret...I do rewatch the games, win or lose. Usually alone and late at night when everyone else has gone to bed. I like to watch line play and I miss too much when I watch with a group or just find myself caught up following the ball. I also try to see why some of our LBs simply disappear on plays or DBs who seem lost. Ultimately though, I enjoy replaying big hits from our D, great special teams plays or just about anything else that usually doesn't make the highlight reel but together are the real reasons we win or lose games.
  18. I was stoked when the Bills select one Mike Williams in 2002. Mike Williams was supposed to be one of the safest picks of the 2002 NFL draft. When Buffalo selected the large tackle out of Texas, fans assumed the Bills had an anchor at tackle for years to come. Instead, he lasted four years in Buffalo and after sitting out of the league for three years, played one more season at guard for the Washington Redskins. Selected fourth overall in 2002, Williams’ bust is perhaps why the team has not selected a tackle in the first round since. What friggin disaster... Probably why so many on this board resist the idea of an OT at #9. Let's hope we do and get better this year!
  19. I watch Goodwin run and he seems much faster than anyone around him. Can't say the same for the other two... Bet they have a good time in practice!
  20. http://prod.static.packers.clubs.nfl.com/assets/docs/2012shareholder-history.pdf It would be cool do do something like this if it were possible.
  21. Ya! If he brings it on Sunday, he can say anything he likes!
  22. yep - it's looking like OT for sure. I bet a OG in the 3/4th too. We need starters and depth.
  23. Yeah, and if you read my post I said the gap is closing and in the future won't be as significant. I never said they were equal or even that they will be some day. My point is that we can afford to pay two OTs decent money and solidify our OL for years. It's been too long since we had above average line play. So it's my opinion and take a walk with your BS comment.
  24. Sorry dude. you and yours who keep spewing LT vs RT are dinosaurs. Think into the future, more passing in the league, more specialist pass rushers who come from everywhere, RT vs LT salary gap is closing and will not be meaningful in years to come. We can afford to pay OTs and it would sure be nice to see someone blocking on the Buffalo Bill's offensive line rather than just being offensive. Center and both OT would be set for years to come. If any of you nay sayers who spew forth the vitriol that RTs come on the cheap have ever played a down of ball, then you know the game is won in the trenches. We have studs on the D side, pair them up with the equivalent OL and we are talking dynasty! Control the line and control the game. Skill players are icing and not the cake.
