Isn't it more insulting to realize that assumption is in fact reality -- according to the white leaders at the top of the DNC pyramid? "If you aren't voting for me, you ain't black!" was just a few weeks ago. Then there's decades of pop culture reinforcement of the idea that blacks must vote democrat (hell, there were jokes about this in Martin when I was growing up). There's only one party right now that operates with actual purity tests -- and it isn't the conservatives. Have you ever heard a liberal talk to a black conservative in person? I have, many times. The most racist, vile, disgusting things I've ever heard a white person say to a person of color in my life didn't happen in the South or a conservative rally. It happened in Boston and LA and came from liberals berrating others for daring to think for themselves. The DNC only cares about black people every four years for their vote. Then they move on, and do nothing for their community. And in the past several election cycles when the demographics showed Latinos were going to be the new minority/majority, the DNC abandoned the black voters in order to pander to that growing demo even though the policies they proposed would gut the black community first. That's not assumption. That's historical fact.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Deranged Rhino replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's important information to get out. The 80 year old speaker of the house thinks so little of the threat of the virus she breaks the law and goes without a mask. And RBG goes without a mask to officiate a wedding despite being even more vulnerable. If people are still locking themselves down at this point, after witnessing that, then I'd suggest they're happy being serfs. -

And Pelosi is 80 and her stint to the salon sans-mask shows that the people in power don't believe Covid is a threat. Anyone still locking themselves down after these two examples are happy being serfs. -
I did not go from Obama to Trump in 2016, but I had a big swing so I might as well answer. I considered myself politically agnostic, but I certainly was considered a liberal on this board throughout 2006-2016. 9/11 happened when I was in college, the War on Terror was ramping up through my political awakening and I found myself loudly arguing in favor of the Iraq war on this very site in 2002-2003 as I bought into the notion that it was better to fight them over there than on our own shores. Somewhere around 2005-2006 this spell wore off and I began to see the bigger agenda of "Regime Change" (feeding the bottom lines of the pols and MiC, not helping others living under totalitarian dictatorships or worse). 2008 I voted for Obama and fully bought into his promises for change -- particularly on the issue of Regime Change and mass surveillance. In 2012 I voted for him again because I still had faith he was working to fulfill those promises he ran on. Then 2013-2014 hit with the mass revelations about not only the illegal drone assassination program, but the Snowden revelations about mass NSA surveillance of Americans. I learned that 44 had not only never intended to end the Regime Change policies of the DC wonks (he was in bed with them all financially), but he doubled the size of the surveillance program while tossing aside civil liberties. Obama literally went back on every single promise he made that mattered to me -- and did so in such a duplicitous and insidious way while the media fawned -- that it snapped me awake. Add into that mix the HRC SecState tenure which was a disaster (Libya, stolen emails, China's hack, the complete wiping out of our HUMINT assets in China) and my distaste for establishment politicians was pretty entrenched. 2016 rolled around and I had no intention of voting for Clinton but assumed she'd win in a walk. The fix was in, I thought. And boy was it ever. I didn't pay attention to Trump's campaign, had no intention of voting for a "republican" and instead wrote in Tulsi Gabbard. Election night happens, big shock, and then I started poking around the rumors about Russia being involved in stealing the election. My job allowed me some access that civilians otherwise might not get, and I used that access to start asking some questions about the Russia story from people who would know better than I would about it. That started me on a research path where I discovered as early as the spring of 2017 that the entire Russian narrative being floated by the media and congressional leaders was a fraud. Just like the War on Terror -- only this information campaign was turned up from 10 to 11 in 2016. The more I dug, the more the dirt kept coming back hard on Obama's administration... and Bush's. It showed me, clearly with evidence that was incontrovertible, that there really wasn't a divide between democrats and republicans in DC -- they were the same bird, just different wings. I watched from the front row as this establishment presence, not just politicians but nearly every single media outlet (and entertainment outlet) pushed what I knew and could prove to be fiction 24/7. They were gaslighting the country before my eyes, and every single "leader" in the political class was in full throated support of the lie. They lied not because they feared that Russia had truly stolen the election, no I knew THEY knew what they were pushing was false. What they actually feared was that the people of the United States had picked a candidate they disagreed with -- and that could not stand. When I saw the lengths the establishment went through, working across the aisle and with their corporate partners, to sell a monster of a lie to the world I knew where the battle lines were really drawn. It's us vs them -- but "them" isn't one political party or the other.

Fox News is not "Pro-Trump", in fact they're populated by Never Trumper GOPers/neocons. Especially when it comes to its board. They have opinion hosts who are pro-Trump, but their news is decidedly pro-establishment. The mistake you're making (imo) is still thinking in partisan terms. This isn't about democrat v republican, nor conservative v liberal. This is outsider(s) v the establishment. And that establishment is most certainly bi-partisan in composition -- especially when it comes to its media control mechanisms. This has never really been about Trump. This is much, much bigger. Added: I missed your earlier statements/posts/questions about the purpose of "fake" polling, or how its accomplished. Polls are only as good as their samples, and almost every poll showing Biden up 9-10+ points over-samples registered or likely democratic voters by close to 20 points. That guarantees a skewed perspective, as do "national polls" which have no bearing on the electoral college projections but can be useful in painting a false picture of the electoral outcomes (see 2016 as an example of this). Then you have the other added factor that polls depend upon people answering honestly. Over the past 4 years it's become dangerous to voice your honest political opinions unless your of a certain political persuasion (which ain't Trump or conservative), thus you have a sea of people who won't answer honestly out of either fear or contempt.

Perhaps — but in terms of political instincts, no one in DC is close to his level. He’s proven time and time again to have a seemingly preternatural instincts when it comes to politics. He keeps on being right/on the more popular side, sooner or later you can’t write it off as mere luck.
