Had an active shooter situation in our neighborhood tonight. Three hour standoff, multiple exchanges of gunfire (and, allegedly, a crossbow). Funny thing was, after a constant week of friends/neighbors lamenting the police, those same people were screaming (texting) about there not being enough cops fixing the situation. One officer injured. No details on how bad. Suspect in custody, no word on his status / injuries.

But first he has to go borrow his dad’s hunting rifle. It’s comedy gold.

Can you imagine what those strategy meetings are like? It would be like a real life Mike Judge bit. -

He's going to surround himself with the lieutenants from the Obama and Clinton machines. Both of which come from the same tree as Cheney. So, it's going to be real bad.

You're missing the point. You're being reasonable. Many are not. Including the woman who asked the Boy Mayor that question. She was clear she did not mean a "partial" defunding. That's a serious messaging problem. That's about as un-American and un-democratic as it gets. Modeling anything after Dick Cheney and thinking that's a winning strategy is dishonest to its core. (again not you, the general you)

Drugs are bad, okay?

He did, no argument. But he didn't misinterpret that. It was stated directly by the woman who asked the question: "we don't want no more police". Again, arguing (not you, the general you) that the word "defund" doesn't mean what it actually means is a very disingenuous position. Doubly so when half the crowd screaming it means EXACTLY that. It's a confusing message that's splitting the party rather than uniting it. That wouldn't have been enough in that moment. The crowd wanted him to say no more police. Full stop. That's what a contingent of this group wants to achieve. And when you suggest a rational solution, they will not hear it. Which boxes centrist democrats into a no win position entirely of their own making. The thing is, this was completely predictable in terms of No Chance Joe. Yet he was forced on the party by its elites regardless of his shortcomings. You should really ask yourself why that choice was made.

I found @GregPersons and @Penfield45's spirit animal: The "woke" hippo.

We covered that when it happened. It's not them destroying the car, the car was destroyed and they needed to clear the windshield to drive away. Funny how context changes things...

He did not position himself that way -- dumbasses like Samuel did when they thought pushing proven liars and deceivers like Colin Powell and W (both with proven track records of being wrong on these exact issues) into the vanguard of the NeverTrump movement. (Hint: It will work again) -

Again, reasonable. But that's not the rallying cry. And try explaining that position to the mob like the Boy Mayor did. What this shows is the dramatic split in the partisan left. There's no room for "reasonable" discussion and solutions when the anger is this high. Which makes it all the more insane that the media has enabled that anger without thinking it through. That split will be exacerbated as we approach November. Especially considering that they're running Biden -- they guy who authored the crime bill and spent forty years in office creating the very system their railing against.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Deranged Rhino replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I asked you a direct question -- and you equivocated. So yes, that's the summation of your position at this moment: "the danger the virus posed was not over-hyped, it was handled well, and nothing will move me from that." It's not "being in search of a conspiracy" to point out how if there isn't major, and I mean MAJOR, spikes from these protests (which started 12 days ago) this week then something is funky about what we've been told. That's empiricism, not being conspiratorial. -

So, in other words, you are unwilling to re-examine or rethink your position on this matter -- numbers be damned. Got it. -
