I think we have a winner for the Bills marketing slogan for 2017.

Good article on Bills front office purge
jeffismagic replied to PirateHookerMD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of those places was the NFL's Personnel Development Committee, which includes former Bills GM and Hall-of-Famer Bill Polian. Polian, fellow Hall-of-Famers Ron Wolf, Tony Dungy, John Madden and other committee members submitted a list of candidates that was distributed to all of the owners of teams searching for a new coach. McDermott's name jumped out at the Pegulas and they promptly made him the first of four candidates they would interview. It was notable that, the day before the "formal" interview that would include Whaley and former director of player personnel Jim Monos, the Pegulas invited McDermott to join them for dinner on their yacht in Boca Raton, Fla. He had the Pegulas at "hello." He impressed them so much, that as Kim drove McDermott to the airport after the next day's six-hour session, she was already telling him to have his wife (who had been invited to Boca Raton as well, but couldn't make the trip) call her for information about housing and other essentials in Western New York. Whaley's virtual disappearance from public view after McDermott's arrival wasn't a coincidence. It was a fulfillment of a condition of McDermott's employment. http://buffalonews.com/2017/05/01/vic-caruccis-bills-wake-call-new-gm-wont-change-structure/ You had me at hello. Pegullibles strike again! -

Lombardi sets up a straw man. Would your rather have your team built by a scout or a team builder? But what evidence do we have that Sean McDermott has a great vision for building the Bills? None. He was a defensive coordinator running a bland scheme in Carolina. Pegulas bet the farm on a guy BEFORE they even formally interviewed him or asked him football questions! -
Would you, right now, trade TT for Deshaun Watson?
jeffismagic replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I answered I would trade Tyrod for Deshaun Watson in a heartbeat. I would then turn Watson into two 1st round picks or the equivalent. Watson's value > Tyrod's Value. Not even close. -

And does anyone expect the Pegulas to give Sean three years if he wins only 12 games and loses 20 over the next 2 years? Based on recent history I would say no. -
Bills Decline 5th Year Option on Sammy Watkins
jeffismagic replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes and no. You are correct that what other teams do doesn't force a decision to the Bills specifically. But the data illustrates that very few players who don't get the 5th year option remain with their original team. Ultimately, it depends on the real reason the Bills are doing this. If this is caution over an injury that they are not certain of, that does not bode well. If this is just bravado and Sean McDermott "making a statement" then perhaps this is much concern over nothing. -

If that happens then I will change my name to TyrodWasMagic.
-
You nailed it. Just because Bills want something doesn't mean they will outgun 7-10 other teams who want the same thing. Possible, but not something to assume as likely.
-
Well, we will have to disagree again but "good" is a pretty subjective term. Good enough to win some games, I grant you that. Not good enough to be a difference maker needed for me.
-
The QB is just assumed to be the driver for points because that's the best number they can find. My point was that points is the reflection of so many moving parts that it is not a sound way to evaluate the QB play.

Bills Decline 5th Year Option on Sammy Watkins
jeffismagic replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks, great read. So only 4 of 27 recently stayed. So Sammy has an 86% chance to no longer be a Buffalo Bill based on recent data. -
Well, if that's what it takes to get a real GM with a vision it will be worth the wait. January 2019 is my guess how long he is here for.
-
And when Sean hasn't hit .500 in two years he is gone and a new scheme change. No way Tyrod throws 35 times a game. Unless you are trying to get a top 5 pick.
-
No. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/draft/draft-trade-chart/
-
Back to the offense, it would be so Bills to improve slightly in the pass game but get worse in the run game under Dennison.

That's why you trade Tyrod to get more picks. Trade Tyrod for Deshaun Watson. Trade Deshaun Watson for equivalent of 2 1st round picks. Trade a 5th next year for Foles or Siemian to start. You start a comparable QB to Tyrod and get 2 1st round picks! Winning. -
The Bills back 7 is a mess depth wise.
-
I didn't predict injuries. What I said is that just a few injuries could make our defense bottom 5 as there is no depth on the roster. We just had a draft loaded with talent where Bills gave away picks.
-
Our defense won't be good, let's put it that way.
-
Not all 1sts are created equal. Bills had a top ten pick and turned that into a late first, a third (which they then promptly gave away to fill a need), and what projects by Vegas to be another late first next year.
-
The problem is people are really underrating Greg Roman. Roman was the run coordinator for Harbaugh and helped the 49ers and Kaepernick get to a Superbowl. Dennison at this point is a souped up Modkins. He had more input but Kubiak was in charge. As for the points argument, all year it was Tyrod ='s points. Well, when the real games begin we will see this argument look kind of silly. If a CB like Gilmore intercepts the ball and takes the ball to the 3 yard line and Shady run it in, points. Points are important but reflect many moving parts. I expect Tyrod to have some nice games against crap teams and to again struggle against .500 teams or better as he did last year. It also means I expect Bills to lose lots of close games as Tyrod cannot make the throws necessary in the 4th quarter when other teams know he has to throw.

Bills put themselves in a position where a first time head coach was also acting as GM. Sean was picking players off a board from people he planned on firing. Let's hope Sean is smarter than the other GM's who were calling up for the QB's.

Benjamin AllbrightVerified account @AllbrightNFL May 1More Post-Draft survey show most teams had Watson as the #3 QB on their boards, a couple even lower than that. No one, including Hou, had him #1. https://twitter.com/AllbrightNFL/status/859051986599247872 -
Which is why a GM in charge of this team would have made more sense that a coach trying to Jauron his way to 7.
