  1. Bills should have had their GM in place before the draft. The Colts hired Chris Ballard, a top name, from the Chiefs in January and had him run their show. Having the defensive coordinator from the Panthers pick players while Whaley, dead man walking. assisted is the sign of a team's total incompetence.
  2. So you have a guy with no front office experience making picks off a board from scouts he deems worthy of losing their jobs. That doesn't inspire confidence.
  3. I never felt that strongly about the trade. I know the data says not to do things like this. But as a Bills fan I also liked the idea of having an elite weapon on the team. You can't blame Whaley for Watkins being injured. He had no injury history in college. That's just bad luck.
  4. That's what all the reports point to both published and from the insiders on this board.
  5. The Bills insiders on this board have repeatedly dismissed the idea that Whaley couldn't get along with people. Marrone didn't get along with anyone, that is true. But Rex and Whaley never had issues.
  6. That's actually the heart of the matter! Who is they?! It was just Sean.
  7. We have no idea whether Mahomes, Watson, or Trubisky had franchise potential on the Bills board. All we know is that Sean McDermott wanted to try to win games next year with Tyrod. Coaches don't like drafting and developing QB's which is why I said before the draft putting the long term future in the hands of a short term horizon coach was a bad idea. Now that Sean has the keys to the Bills kingdom, his best play to remain in power is to win enough games to keep his job.
  8. If McDermott's plan is to build around Tyrod Taylor I hope he is shown the door ASAP.
  9. If the Bills are in win now mode they certainly could have paid Gilmore. They decided they didn't want to which is fine. My issue is if you don't pay him and want to rebuild why not actually rebuild? Bills always middling things. I have never said to draft a QB just to draft a QB. What I said was you don't pass on a QB if they have franchise potential if there is a guy there and you don't have a franchise QB. Coaches don't like to draft and develop QB's. Let's hope that McDermott has a plan beyond trotting out TT and the best veteran he can find.
  10. I made it through Williams, Mularkey, Jauron, Gailey, Marrone, and Ryan. I can make it through McDermott.
  11. Well, this year could very well look like one of the Jauron years. What it comes down to is does he have a plan to do something more? This draft was let #1 corner go, draft a corner. Let #2 WR go, spend a 2nd and 3rd on WR, a steep price even with the lower pick back. Spend 3 picks on a right tackle (after previous Bills teams had spent 2 picks on RT recently) I can't imagine this team really has anyone in the AFC very worried. Now they need to hire a new GM who won't be a GM who is tasked with hiring an entire scouting department and key positions for a team with a bad reputation and a coach that could be gone in 2-3 years.
  12. Not everyone thinks drafting cornerbacks, letting them walk in free agency, and drafting their replacements is a great way to build a Superbowl team. Same Old Bills.
  13. The GM in Kansas City was hired by the ownership and I see Andy Reid delegating and letting Dorsey act as a GM. Whether Reid has final call is not as important because Reid seems to understand when to back off from his experience.
  14. Buffalo beat them to it.
  15. Yes, but McDermott is not on the offensive side of the ball. So I see him as more aligned with Leslie Frazier and Ron Rivera philosophically.
  16. Let's wait till 2020. I like the sound of it. And it's the start of a new decade.
  17. I see McDermott as from the Ron Rivera tree. McDermott and Andy Reid have little in common other than McDermott started there. When McD needed an offensive coordinator Reid's guy didn't come to Buffalo. That's not a good sign.
  18. What scouts would want to come into this situation? Defensive, power mad coach with a hair trigger owner.
  19. When is the last time the Bills did an open GM search? Still waiting for a time when we cast a wide net and hire the best in the business.
  20. I think Roman was the master designer and A Lynn was a better playcaller.
