  1. Touche...but, Marrone stayed there for a while...I doubt he was expecting the NFL to come calling when it did. Pettine knew all he had to do was get out from under Ryan, have a good year or two...and he would get his shot. It just seems strange to me how it happened. That's all. (And I am bitter, I'll admit that...I really liked the guy, thought he was an amazing hire.) Here's to hoping Schwartz came help me forget that...and do just as good a job, if not better than Pettine!
  2. Why? He is pretty close with Marrone, has had a working relationship with him for years...and Marrone brought him here, not Pettine. Mike Pettine used Doug Marrone, and the Buffalo Bills, to get a chance at a Head Coaching gig...I hope he falls flat on his face.
  3. I would like to see them take a flier on Logan Thomas in the 5th-6th round...I doubt he goes undrafted. Kid has "all the tools" (as Mayock put it)...and could be a perfect developmental QB under EJ Manuel. They would have to change nothing, as they are the same QB.
  4. I think there are a couple others, who were more important to our success, that should have as well...Andre Reed and Bruce Smith. Surprised Andre Reed did not join them...I believe he was in the minority coaching program with the Chiefs this training camp. Perfect, absolutely perfect! ;-) Except reading this article, I cannot help but root for the guy...as he followed the same path I once hoped to follow. As long as he is not playing the Bills, there is no other NFL Head Coach I would rather see succeed, than Mike Pettine. Even just to rub it in Rex Ryan's face...that the student is better than the teacher. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/20140126_Pettine_s_journey_to_Browns_a_story_of_father_and_son.html
  5. I would say Mel Kiper and his mock drafts/opinions are to football...what Eklund and his hockeybuzz rumor charts are to hockey. Worthless.
  6. I would hedge a bet on their parents (fathers) being Bills fans...that would make more sense. Isn't that how most of us end up liking the teams we like? (for the most part)
  7. I like that draft MUCH better. As far as the safety position...I truly believe between Aaron Williams, Searcy, Duke Williams and Meeks...they have safeties. (Leonhard too.) However they have to do it, I would love-love-love to have an extra first round pick...to guarantee 2 of a WR, TE and/or LB.
  8. "New Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich will have a familiar target working with him next year. According to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego, the Chargers are hiring Pete Metzelaars as their new tight ends coach." http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/24/chargers-hire-pete-metzelaars-to-coach-tight-ends/ (I did not see this posted anywhere, so I thought I would share it.)
  9. Brandon Spikes will follow Pepper Johnson, I would almost bet money on it...those two are apparently very close. Plus, I wouldn't want him on this team...and I don't think Fred Jackson and/or Eric Wood would want him, either. Pick up your proven linemen in free agency...use the draft to get your own playmakers at WR, TE, LB, etc.
  10. I brought this up in another thread...but it probably fits better here...what do you think of this? How about trading Jairus Byrd and our 1st round pick...to Cleveland for their two 1st round picks? (We can throw in Jim O'Neil and Anthony Weaver...hell, throw in the entire defensive coaching staff! lol.)
  11. I'll give them the whole defensive coaching staff...plus Byrd and our 1st...for their TWO 1st round picks!
  12. "We are also hearing that three coaches could be leaving Buffalo’s defensive side of the ball, if granted permission to interview. Bills Quality Control coach Brian Fleury, Linebackers Coach Jim O’Neil and Defensive Line coach Anthony Weaver who were previously with Pettine in New York under Rex Ryan. It is also said that the Browns will hire former Bills LB coach Chuck Driesbach." Well, good ol' Chuck was not unemployed very long, eh? What a stroke of luck for him. As far as Anthony Weaver, players love him and he was a HUGE part of our defensive line's resurrection...I would hate to lose him the most.
  13. I'm pretty sure we could demand a draft pick for Jim O'Neil, because he is still under contract in Buffalo. I am not 100% positive on that though...and I don't think the Bills (Marrone) would have the "marbles" to do that to his buddy.
  14. I love 2, 3, and 7...but Johnny Manziel? He's the next Eric Crouch...and that would make me lose A LOT of hope in the Bills. I can't stand that kid...I would much rather have Jimmy Garoppolo or Logan Thomas in the mid-rounds...use the 1st on a stud playmaker. (LB or WR/TE) EDIT: I honestly like the whole draft you did...EXCEPT that 1st round pick. lol.
  15. Thanks, but I figured as much, that is why I threw McCullers in there...although they are two VERY different players IMO. I think we need a McCullers more than a Donald anyway...Donald is a pass-rusher, McCullers is a run-stuffer. We need more size in the middle. I just REALLY want one of Mike Evans or Kelvin Benjamin...and Austin Seferian-Jenkins. (That would be huge for EJ.) I also like Max Bullough alot...and Linder/Schofield are exactly what we need, BIG and NASTY lineman who can play OG and RT. The fact so many underclassmen came out really excites me, as I think that will push some players back...ultimately making some 1st rounders available in the 2nd round, some 2nd rounders available in the 3rd round...and so on. This is a perfect draft to stockpile some talent. And if Pettine and the Browns want Jim O'Neil, then we would gladly take their 3rd or 4th rounder to release him from his contract! ;-)
  16. This is what I came up with... Top-10 picks were (very realistic, in my opinion)... 1. Johnny Manziel - Houston 2. Jake Matthews - Rams 3. Teddy Bridgewater - Jaguars 4. Sammy Watkins - Browns 5. Khalil Mack - Raiders 6. Jadaveon Clowney - Falcons 7. Eric Ebron - Buccaneers 8. Blake Bortles - Vikings My picks...(with a couple second options I had a hard time deciding between...I would be ecstatic about any combination of these picks.) 9. Anthony Barr - OLB/UCLA (or WR/TAMU - Mike Evans) 41. Kelvin Benjamin - WR/FSU (or TE/UW - Austin Seferian-Jenkins) 73. Aaron Donald - DE-DT/Pitt (or DT/TENN - Daniel McCullers) 105. Max Bullough - ILB/MSU 137. Jimmy Garoppolo - QB/EIU 169. Michael Schofield - OL/Michigan 201. Brandon Linder - OG/Miami Based on this draft...my priority undrafted FA's would be Louisville/RB - Michael Dyer, Oregon/TE - Colt Lyerla, and VT/QB - Logan Thomas.
  17. They also have good coaches, especially on offense...the Bills? Not so much.
  18. His former college coach was saying how Michael Crabtree has the best hands ever. You shy away from Sherman the whole game, then you go his way (to Crabtree) with the game on the line...and he shuts you down, to go to the Super Bowl. Yeah, I can't imagine all of that going through his head...and the first thing he thinks is, "I better be a choir boy." The Bills could learn a thing or two about fire, passion...and what they call "swagger." (aka. confidence.) PS. Nice hands, "Crab."
  19. You think after being in the playoffs for so many years, Anquan Boldin will want to come to BUFFALO? With a San Francisco win today, he has a chance to play in his third Super Bowl in 8-9 years. No chance he wants to come play for the Bills. He would probably retire before he contemplated that idea. I do, however, like the idea of the other two...rather find another WR than Riley Cooper, though. (preferably in the draft.)
  20. Weird... "About three hours after that, the car was rented to Judith Fleissig, 58, of Rochester, N.Y. , who called the E-Z Rent-A-Car at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport company after she discovered the weapon, according to the Sheriff's Office."
  21. And the Bills are not smart enough to give him a raise and a title of Assistant Head Coach. I agree, 100%...I thought back in August he would get an opportunity within 1-2 years. He will turn a team around quickly.
  22. Thing is...they might not be able to get anybody else. (Bowles and McDaniels withdrew their names, as did others.) Nobody wants to go work there now...hopefully Marrone's buddy "Chud" can have a talk with Mike Pettine about his experience.
  23. http://www.buffalobi...ae-fb7772770ead Undrafted FA out of Clemson, signed by San Francisco, then went to Washington's PS. Big guy with decent speed and strength. 6-4 255. (4.69 forty, 25-30 reps.) Apparently he was considered a "draft sleeper" by some people... http://www.nepatriot...-interview.html "Kourtnei Brown is the typical Clemson defensive end, he’s big, fast and athletic." "At the Clemson pro day Brown was able to post a 40 yard dash time of 4.69, a time which would have ranked Kourtnei in the top ten among defensive linemen at the NFL Combine." (I saw him up close at training camp (autograph)...he reminded me of Jeff Posey, with a little thicker build.)
  24. I want to acknowledge this, and agree...I came to this post looking to comment the same thing. Especially after reading the article about how he is "shocked," and got "positive comments" (texts) from Kiko Alonso and others. ("I miss being part of that organization." - Chuck Driesbach) Anyways...hopefully now the NFL can get this "Rookie of the Year" thing right. #Kiko4DROY
  25. Da'rick Rogers. (I was going to say, Doug Flutie.)
