McD stay DC. Brady OC New ST coach New DL coach

I was comfortably in this place after the 2020 season. Now, I’m getting anxious. In 2 years Josh will be 30. How many more years at the peak of these current powers will he have? 3? Maybe 5? The good news is by then 14 other elite AFC QBs will be into year 2 or 3 of their 300 million dollar contracts to so….even playing field?

Joe Brady ran this offense the way I saw Tom Brady and the Patriots run their offense during the peak years of Brady and McDaniels. You attack the defenses weakness especially if it’s your strength. Don’t force anything you aren’t good at. If the defense is strong vs the pass you run the ball - quick releases if the pass rush is elite. We faced the Jets Cowboys Chiefs twice and Miami in 5 of the last 8 games. They are very good against the pass and in man coverage. I have no problem attacking the strengths if you have elite weapons to do it. That said - and this is the good news going forward - the plans worked and we beat all those teams until our D fell apart Sunday. Yes we need weapons. But more then anything else we need an OC that knows what he’s doing building a game plan, calling the game, and making in game adjustments. Hopefully Brady is that guy. He looks like it to me.

This is how I see it. Find the next WR 1. Everything gets easier after that.

I’m not angry like last year or the 13 seconds finish. Woke up today and just….sad. This team is wasting opportunities and there is no easy fix. There are elite QBs all over the AFC. It seems like it’s impossible for this team to get over the hump. The cap. The coaching questions. The personnel on offense. If you lose fine with your guys to a better team fine. They were banged up then and we weren’t. It was reversed yesterday. I really can’t accept McD or this team can’t beat them bc we have. More than any team. And KC beats everyone. 6 straight AFC title games. Why should I be mad? Those injuries are the difference. It’s that close. It’s the “I just don’t see how we get there” dread I feel. And it’s not that we can’t fix these things. It’s full Buffalo. Something is going to happen. Offense was clean all year. So you know what that means for next year. It never ends in this city. Please Lord keep Josh healthy.

That division isn’t a 4th place schedule and neither is the AFC. The AFC North plays the NFC East in 2024. Bengals are also at the Chiefs and at the Cowboys.

He’s still here playing while the other QBs mentioned in this thread are home or haven’t won their divisions let alone a playoff game. Burrow can’t stay on the field - does Higgins leave? Herbert? Has to deal with Mahomes. Lamar? Same division as Burrow. Stroud? We’ll see how good he is on a post Slowick team. Lawrence? I mean I don’t even know. Allen has done more with less than all these QBs have - including Stroud who has nice weapons and a great oline (Tank Dell and Nico - not 1st round picks btw). No reason to think this won’t just stay the same but eventually he’s going to play with talent on offense similar to what those teams have.

Karlaftis had 10 sacks and Jones moves around. KC has a great secondary and great DC that knows how to use them. Also, they’re lucky to be here (Mahomes) and are going to get curb stomped by Baltimore.

Those guys aren’t just found in RD 1. D line - of which we have 3 guys under contract - is going to be priority right there with another WR.

DE in round 1 is high probability imo. DEs harder to find later in the draft.

I haven’t seen AJ since October. Rousseau is mid. Oliver is a beast. Same Jones. But the interior of the KC line dominated them. Creed Humphrey is one of the 3 best centers in the league. Our DEs are a massive problem. You can’t win SB with mid DEs.

My thoughts on the O. The philosophy wasn’t just “run the ball.” The philosophy was attack the opponents weakness and try not to attempt against their strength what our guys suck at doing. We didn’t want to throw 40 times vs Dallas bc they are good against the pass and we don’t have the WRs. Same thing vs KC. And we’re going to throw it more to RBs. And it worked. We went 7-1. We beat elite defenses and moved the ball and scored at will vs Dallas, the Jets, the Chiefs, and to some extent Pittsburgh. We are an elite WR away (Diggs is now a #2) from being near unstoppable - and that’s just if Allen doesn’t turn the ball over. No need for hero ball.

I’m not going to defend him. I’m not going to slam him tonight. Everyone upset about him and that record you posted is correct and troubling. I’ve been as outspoken as anyone about firing him being a simple business decision to optimize Allen and how long can you stand in front of the same guys with the same message year after year and not even making it to a AFCCG more then once and going on 4 years now. But we’re here. We’re playing on January 20th every year. How many current coaches not named Reid can say this currently? I don’t know what you do.

Our Dline is the same as it’s been for 5 years. Feasts on garbage olines. Disappears vs the great ones. Every time.

Nukua and St. Brown weren’t first round picks. I don’t think you force the issue. You know who the best draft pick to fall to the best team in the last 2 years was? Kyle Hamilton at 14 in 2022 to Baltimore. You’re going to see him all over Kelce next week. We would force the issue at 14 and take WR. Just draft great players. I don’t care what position they play. I don’t care when we draft them.

Been doing this since 1988. I’m 45. I’m as disappointed as can be but deep down I know health matters and we were going against a HOF play caller and QB that’s beaten everyone the last 6 years to get to the AFCCG. Deep down I knew we needed Super Josh tonight. He was outside of the last 2 plays. Our Kicker sucks. We fired a OC halfway thru the year. From Milano to Jones to White to Benford and Bernard - that’s just not an optimal situation - lots of cap space on injured guys or guys not remotely healthy - Von.
