Matt Araiza accused of rape, served with a lawsuit.
sven233 replied to bill8164's topic in Off the Wall
If I had to guess, I don't think he will end up playing tonight. But, if he does, it is probably because the team has known this was going to come out for a month or more at this point, have a lot more information than the public does about it, have not seen any additional information about it the last day or so that they didn't already have weeks ago, and are completely comfortable as to where this actually sits behind the scenes. Honestly, if he plays tonight, it will be really telling where the Bills organization is on all the evidence they have at this point. I don't expect him to play, but am definitely interested to see what the Bills do as I expect a lot more punting opportunities tonight than there has been in the first couple preseason games. -

I mentioned this last night, but admitted that maybe I just hadn't see everything out there yet. However, it's the next day and not a whole lot new has been reported. Can someone let me know why there seems to be 100% focus on Ariaza and none on the other players involved? It just seems like the lawyer is throwing anything and everything at 1 guy while the others are hardly mentioned to this point. Just odd, that's all. -
Just a friendly suggestion to the Bills front office and the firms they have hired, in light of all the recent "news" that has taken everyone's attention. Tomorrow or this weekend might be a great time to release something in order to try and change the subject a bit onto something a little more positive.

Except this is bigger than football. Bigger than the game and what happens on Sundays. This is about PEOPLE and the rest of their lives. It absolutely does not matter what position a guy plays. A punter (a human being) has the same rights to defend himself and clear his name as a superstar QB (a human being). No one human being should ever be treated different than another human being. To say someone should get cut and have his life ruined while someone else should get the benefit of the doubt and let the process play out because of a position they play in a sport is not a good take or look at all. -

This whole story is crazy......and so is all the speculation surrounding it. Been following this all night just like everyone else, but everyone is just going around in circles and insisting their opinion is the obvious answer. Some want him cut immediately. Some think this is just a money grab and that the whole thing is bogus. The fact is, none of us know what happened that night. None of us were there. But here is what I have gathered that requires no speculation at all: 1. None of us were there and can possibly prove one way or another what actually happened. 2. Both of the lawyers have shown to be rather stupid and unprofessional. I mean, who makes statements publicly like Araiza's attorney did? And who posts text messages about conversations between the lawyers themselves, some of which seem to contradict the point he was trying to make in the first place? I don't know either of them, but they both come across as having a bit of "bargain basement" in them and they should probably both just shut up and do this out of the public eye. It's not helping either one of them. 3. The Bills we made aware of all this almost a month ago now. I can virtually guarantee they have a lot more information than any of us do. 4. That said, the Bills based on all of the information they have regarding the incident in question, in the midst of a punter competition, cut a guy that by all accounts was having a solid camp in order to keep a rookie, with a pending lawsuit they knew was coming, and would get out to the public. 5. IF....and it may be a big IF..... Araiza plays tomorrow night after all this has come to light and hasn't already been cut, the Bills obviously feel very strongly with the information they have that the public does not at this point that this situation is something that will not impact the organization in an overwhelmingly negative way to publicly stand by and support Araiza as this plays out. As I said.....I have no idea what happened at that party/gathering and I am not going to assume or speculate on anything based on what has been made public. If the allegations turn out to be true, of course he should be cut and prosecuted to the furthest extent of the law. But I have seen so many people come out and try to cut the player because he's a "only a punter" and we don't need the distraction. That's a trash take. It makes no difference what position he played. Would you all be coming with the same energy to cut a player immediately if it was Allen we were talking about? Let this play out with the information that the lawyers and the team has. I firmly believe that if he is indeed involved in all of this that the organization will not hesitate to cut him. I also believe that this organization will not just have a knee-jerk reaction like many people expressing their opinions based on the little information the public has as compared to the parties involved. PS. I know we are all focused on Araiza because he's currently part of our team, but why have we not seen more about the other players that were named in the lawsuit? I mean, the lawyers are going completely wild right now about Araiza and whatever his involvement is, but where is that same vitriol regarding the other players? Maybe it is out there and I just haven't seen it yet, but everything else just seems to be focused on Araiza. Just a little strange to me. -
Bills -Broncos Post Game Thread Week 2 Preseason
sven233 replied to muppy's topic in The Stadium Wall
At work all day, but caught most of the game. Can't wait to get home for a re-watch and be able to hone in on a few things I wanted a second look at. But, even while watching a ton of kids running around here at Niagara Kraze, I was still able to catch the obvious: 1. Josh Allen is 1 of 1. 2. Gabe Davis is going to explode this year. 3. Shakir needs to see the field. Reminds me so much of Bobby Trees it's uncanny. Such a nuanced route runner already and he's only a rookie. He's a steal. 4. As I mentioned in another thread, it's about time to start thinking about putting Aaron Kromer's name on the WOF. I mean the guy has Ford and Hart looking like they could be more than serviceable and that is a miracle in itself. 5. Dorsey, although using a limited playbook, is calling the offense extremely well. While I still want us to be passing 65%-70% of the time, he seems to have a knack of when a run might hit. And with the line blocking the way they did today, our RBs are more than capable in producing a solid, if not well above average running game. And if you give Allen a running game and time to throw like the QBs all had today, he is going to light the league on fire. He gets line play like he did today, he may have an all-time type of season. 6. The defense played well outside of the first drive even without 5 top tier starters. 7. The punt competition is over. Even though he didn't punt today, the punt god is the guy. Fact is, I don't plan on punting much this season. If we do, I am fine with kicking it through the end zone every punt no matter where we are on the field in most cases. With our defense playing the way I think we will this season, teams are not driving 80 yards on this defense for TDs on us consistently enough to keep pace with our offense. If he can pop a few inside the 20, that's a great bonus. 8. This is the deepest team I have seen us have......maybe ever. Those 90s teams were stacked, but they had holes for sure. This team is deep everywhere. We have spent too much time the last couple decades trying to justify bad preseason performances trying to chalk it up to not gameplanning, the starters not playing, etc. when in fact the team just didn't have talent. Well, this team showed its depth today and demolished a good team no matter if it was starters backups, etc. All day long every group dominated. 9. All that said above, this cut down to 53 is going to hurt badly. Some very good prospects are going to get cut and it's going to be very frustrating. With as good as this team might be, it may be time to take a chance and cut some of the older special teams only type of vets to keep some of the younger talent. Like I said above, if you want, with the legs that Bass and punt god have, just tell them to kick everything through the end zone and take the specialists right out of it for the most part and just hope that when you do need them, the younger guys can come through. 10. This team is just going to be flat out fun to watch this year. Sure, there will be struggles at times and there will be some frustrations for sure, but more often than not, we are going to be must-see. It was a fun game to watch and I can't wait to get home and really be able to focus on the little things I may have missed while working during the game. GO BILLS!- 262 replies

That's it....I don't want to cut anyone. Time to petition the NFL to up the roster limit to 70. Seriously, though..... This cut down to 53 is going to hurt. -

So we really need to start thinking about getting Aaron Kromer’s name on the Wall of Fame. The man's got Bobby Hart and Cody Ford out here looking more than serviceable. It's amazing. -
Deshaun Watson to be suspended 11 games via settlement
sven233 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
What a joke. This piece of trash should never play on an NFL field again. -
I guess I don't know what some people expect. He's drafted 23rd overall as pretty much a press man corner with very limited zone coverage time. He joins what may be the best team in the NFL and is immediately thrown up against Diggs (a top 5 NFL WR) and Davis (potentially a top 20 NFL WR) day in and day out. Oh, and those WRs have arguably the best QB in the world throwing them the ball. He wins some battles and loses some. He struggles a bit in picking up a zone scheme but gets a little better every day. What do you expect is going to happen? Him to come out and just dominate one of the best offenses in the NFL? He'll be fine. He won't see a better pair of WRs too often. He'll be just fine. It's just time on task at this point.

Not gonna lie...... Looking forward to punting a few times on Saturday (as long as it's Araiza doing the punting. I have no desire to see Haak ever kick a ball for us again.)

The Pats* did something like this for years with Brady. They always paid him well below market value and then funneled money into a company he owed to make up the difference. Can't remember the specifics about the arrangement, but this has been talked about for years with Brady.

I like that they are getting their own streaming service. I don't like what they are offering and won't be getting it. Now, if they add their video library so I can go back and watch any game ever played (especially Bills games, obviously), I see value in that and would sign up depending on the price. I have roughly 85 old games from the 80s through the present saved on my media server that I go back and watch frequently during the offseason to satisfy the football itch as much as possible, but many are in old VHS quality and the audio isn't that great. I'd love to watch these games with NFL archive quality. Granted, some of the copies I have do still have the original commercials in them and it is kind of cool to see some of these 80s and 90s commercials again once in a while! HA! (Do you remember getting 2 Quarter Pounders with Cheese for $1.99 at McDonald's......now they are like $7 a piece without a promotion/sale!) Anyway, they do have plenty of content that would make a streaming service worth it, but what they are offering isn't worth it yet. Hopefully someday soon!

Good dude on and off the field that had a lot of physical talent that always left you wanting more.

I Watched SB 28 In Full Last Night, Thoughts & Analysis
sven233 replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
While I don't think I will ever watch any of those Super Bowls again (it was bad enough living through them the first time around), I have been re-watching a ton of old games starting in the mid 80s through the end of the 90s. I will say this.... watching these games and some of the coaching decisions that were made back then really makes me mad. Even in games they win, and some fairly comfortably at that, the coaching left a lot to be desired. I get it. We like Marv because those teams won a ton of games, but let me tell you.....I don't think he was a great head coach, he was one of the most conservative coaches I have ever seen, and didn't make a lot of great decisions in game. Yes, we won a lot back then, but it was mainly because of the talent on that team. Now, was Marv a great people person? Could he manage all of those egos? Yes. He did that well. But after re-watching most of these games, if the internet existed back then, I think there is a good chance he would have been ripped apart a lot for his actual coaching. The other thing I noticed is that there were several glaring weaknesses on those teams back then. I know free agency worked a lot differently back then so it may have been harder to fill holes, but there were several times, even season to season that the secondary could have used some help. Or, the interior of the defense could have been upgraded. The offensive line after was never really addressed for years after Wolford and company left. They just kept plugging guys into key spots that were terrible and unathletic (here's looking at you, Parker). And let me tell you......how this team even stuck with Norwood during the 90 season leading up to that first Super Bowl blows my mind. He missed so many kicks, even the easiest of kicks, leading up to that game that I have no clue how he was still kicking for this team in important moments. He was terrible. Not sure what game it was because I watched it a few months ago now (it may have been against the Raiders) where he missed like 5 kicks, including both FGs and XPs, along with a couple that would have been game winners. Not only missed them, but missed them BAD. Them not replacing him earlier is baffling. OK....this turned into more of a rant than I was anticipating. Didn't mean for this to go on this long! HA! Point is, we all lived through a lot of great seasons back then. We won a lot of games and we were fun to watch. But man, we left so much meat on the bone for a lot of different reasons. Frustrating to see it even more clearly after going back and re-watching most of those games again. -
The guy gets it. He is an extremely hard worker and takes his game seriously. You can tell he wants to be great and that is only going to help us going forward. Here's hoping he blows up this season and becomes one of the best in the league. Another guy we will want to have to pay when the time comes if all goes right.

How to organize the new stadium “Wall of Fame”
sven233 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall
While the Wall of Fame has been nice at the current stadium, you legitimately have a chance to do something epic at the new one. It's time for a real Buffalo Bills/Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. Whether you want to do your own busts or statues, or something else, you can do something really cool at the new place. The beauty of it is that is can be anything you want it to be and have it as big as you want it to be. Have stations set aside for each legend with a bust or statue, some of their game worn memorabilia, a TV that shows the players' history and highlights, etc. You could make this a travel destination that is open all year round. Almost like a Buffalo version of the Pro Football HOF. If done right, it could be absolutely amazing. Will they do this? Probably not. But man, I think it could be something not only for Buffalo fans to enjoy, but to introduce visiting fans to our history and all time greats. While we don't have many Championships to our name, our history has plenty of awesome players, people, and moments to celebrate.- 71 replies

You just have to watch this clip and compare it to the one the Dolphins put out with Tua under-throwing Hill at like 35-40 yards after putting everything he had into it to realize that these 2 QBs are miles apart.

He is always going to be the "punt god" until he proves that he isn't that. Whether he likes it or not, he earned that nickname and it's an awesome one. He keeps the title until he proves that he is unworthy of the name.

Because all of a sudden, our entire defensive coaching staff, including our head coach, shoved their collective heads up their butts and failed the team in the biggest moment. Most people on this board......most football fans in general.....could have made decisions that would have closed that game out. It's like our staff took the ideal defensive strategy for that situation and decided to do the exact opposite. It was not on the players. The coaching staff literally stole one should have been one of this franchise's all time greatest moments, and in my opinion this teams first Super Bowl Championship, and flushed it down the toilet. That said, there were other moments in that game where we could have been a bit better. Honestly, it could be as simple as Tre not playing in the game. Not a doubt in my mind we win that game by 2 scores if a healthy Tre is in there.

NFL Draft 2022 Second & Third Round Discussion Thread
sven233 replied to UKBillFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll admit I don't know anything about this guy. He may turn out to be a fine player. But, if you wanted to get an undersized LB that can run, why not trade up a handful of spots and get Dean? Oh well...... We'll see what happens. Some people are saying he is just like Milano. Time will tell. -

Ready to see James Cook in this offense...... A great pass catching back and I love drafting guys with siblings in the league, especially when they play the same position. They will strive to outdo each other.
