  1. They are doing so many dumb things in this game it made me wonder the same thing. Where was this crap last week? I will say, Houston has a better game plan than we did for sure, specifically on defense. Not blitzing a ton and dropping into coverage which is what I thought we were going to do heading into last week. Instead McDermott comes out blitzing like a maniac giving their WRs so much more room to get open. Our game plan was backward.
  2. Dorsey literally has 2 running concepts, dart and duo. Don't ask him to get creative in the running game. It just isn't there.
  3. That's not exactly what I meant.....of course there are positives we can take out of the game in a vacuum. Our season would still be alive. But I guess what I really wanted to say is I'm not sure how much a win changes our overall feelings about the team. Say we win......it will feel good. Heck, even if we win comfortably, it might help the morale a bit. But in the end, no matter what happens in the game, the same questions will be starring us in the face next week. We have struggled so much against the Jets. Even if we put up 50 this week, how confident are any of us going to be that we can put even 24+ against the Jets the next week? That's all I'm saying. Of course I want to win and I want us to look great doing it. But even if we do, there is nothing that can happen in this game that I will take into next week in my evaluation of how the Jets game or the Eagles game is going to go. Until this team puts a stretch of great games together offensively, and this coaching staff shows they have a little common sense, I am not sure how confident we can be no matter how this particular game goes. I just don't think a win against an average to below average Broncos team changes the overall thoughts on the weaknesses and the questions this team has going forward.
  4. We just need a win out of this game. Unfortunately, this is the kind of game that nothing real positive can come out of it. We blow them out, it will be because it's just the Broncos. We win a close one, all the worry and frustration that we have with this team will be even more magnified. And, God forbid, we lose to the Broncos, at home, on prime time with the world watching. Things might burn. So yeah.....not a lot of positives are probably going to be taken from this one. Jut have to win and move on.
  5. I actually think part of the problem is the opposite. There are several times I've noticed that he gets off the first read almost too fast. Sometimes, he doesn't let things play out long enough before moving on. You have to remember that this happens to every QB in the league. Every QB in every game misses reads, event the easiest ones. It happens. Playing QB is hard, man. It's the most difficult position in sports. You are expected to know and see everything happening on the field at all times and make split second decisions on every snap with very large and fast human beings trying to take your head off. Sometimes you're going to be wrong. And no matter whether you're one of the best like Allen, Mahomes, Burrow, Rodgers, Manning, etc., you are going to miss reads and you are going to miss open guys. It will happen regularly in every game. What separates the great ones from the others is the ability to miss less reads than others and the ability, if you do miss a read, to make something else happen on the play to make it a positive instead of a negative. Do I wish Allen would make better reads sometimes? Of course. There are times I watch the All-22 and I wonder why his eyes going to a spot when he should be looking somewhere else completely based on how the defense lined up. But he makes better decisions more often than not and improvises better than just about anyone else in the league when he does miss a read. That's why, while not perfect, he's one of the best in the world right now.
  6. So I was right all along then. I've been saying it really looked like the coaches would see something work well and then immediately do something else instead of what is having success. The thing is, I was kind of joking, but sadly.......the coaches admit it is true. This really makes me question as the competence of our coaches. To actively stop what is working because they wanted to try something or see something else? That is insanity.
  7. Von - Stuck with it for at least 3 years. Just hope he returns to form. I'm not giving up on him like many here are. Tre - As much as I like the guy and want him to be a Bill forever. his body has kind of betrayed him and I don't think he can ever get back to the player he once was. You can save quite a bit by letting him go, so, unfortunately, business is business. See what his market is when he comes back and if nobody wants to pay him, maybe you could get him back at a discount. Wouldn't count on that, though. Knox - Ah.....the contract that should have never been signed in the first place. They didn't need to do it when they did it and now we're stuck paying a #2 TE premium money at the position for a while. And he isn't even the best TE on this team. But you watch......as soon as he comes back, the coaches will put him back as the #1 even if Kincaid continues his awesome production. I think with this staff, even if Kincaid puts up 100+ every game will still play Knox more as soon as he's healthy. They love the guy.
  8. This game was so frustrating. All the talk leading up to this game was how the Bengals outclassed us and were by far the better team. That is absolutely not the case and going forward, if and when we see them again, nobody should go in afraid. We did way more to beat ourselves than the Bengals did to beat us. They are a good team and they are better coached than we are. But nobody will convince me we just can't beat them. Now, that said, our coaching staff can most certainly prevent us from winning any game we play. We had like 4 good drives the entire game. And you know what the all had in common? They all had at least 1 Allen run in them. He had 1, maybe 2 designed runs in this game and you know what? They worked. And immediately, they were followed up with a very good play on the next snap. That is not a coincidence. Allen running opens up everything on this offense and makes things so much easier. Also, tempo...... Every time we used tempo, we moved the ball efficiently. But there was more than one occasion tonight that we were moving the ball with tempo and then all of a sudden, it was back to lolly gagging around and stuck in the mud for no reason. No under center play action that we all know Allen has success with. Critical mistakes at the worst times. So many self-inflicted wounds. And everything I mentioned was on offense. Don't get me started on the defensive blunders. But honestly, you give up 24 in a game like this, with the players we have on offense, you have to find a way to get more. Yes.....the Bengals are good. But nobody should feel like we can't beat them. This season is not over. If this coaching staff can get their heads out of their butts and really looks at what works and what doesn't, there is still time to get right. But as of right now, this coaching staff is very outmatched. PS. Kincaid, fumble aside, is an absolute stud. He is the 2nd best weapon on this team and can do this week in and week out. But we all know what's going to happen, don't we...... Knox comes off IR in a few weeks and will immediately be inserted back into the starting line up and Kincaid will be an afterthought once again because these coaches actively do everything they can to take anything that works and make it useless.
  9. Look.....we're probably going to lose this game. It is what it is. But I don't want to hear anything about how great the Bengals are or whatever. We have done way more to hurt ourselves in this game. They are a good team for sure. But they are not head and shoulders more talented. They are better coached, though.
  10. McDermott always shrinks in the biggest moments. So frustrating.
  11. Defense folds when you need them the most......Johnson has been good over the years, but he has been roasted all year.
  12. You always go for 2 in that situation. You get it, a stop and TD wins it. You don't, you still have a chance to tie. It's math. It's the right call.
  13. What the heck? Waste of a TO there. They won't overturn this..... Come on. Just terrible coaching.
  14. He fumbled.....it was a bit of bad luck, but it happened. Regardless, the fact is, Kincaid is our 2nd best weapon on offense and it isn't even close. Tonight, fumble aside, he has been amazing and should have the 2nd most targets on this team going forward behind Diggs. He's really, really good.
  15. Those kind of routes.....the quick slants are killers on 3rd down and they are barely in out playbook.
  16. Guys that have done nothing all year are making huge plays against us in big moments. And that give more chances for their stars to make plays like that.
  17. Ugh...... Dalton. I love you man, but that can't happen. He's been such a revelation and, fumble aside, he is the 2nd best weapon on the team. Mistakes happen. He knows it. He'll be better. But that was our chance to get back into this one. Sometimes it's not your night, though. That was a much better drive overall, though. It's no coincidence it included 2 Allen runs. Even though it ended badly, I hope they take away the many positives that drive did have.
  18. I know he's a little banged up. I get it. But in a game where your star QB needs to be his best, you need to allow him to do the things that make him one of the best in the world. I'm not saying we needed 10 designed Allen runs in this game, but we should have had 5. EDIT......there's one.....and look.....it worked and the follow up play was wide open too!
  19. But they should............ It's the right call even if it doesn't work. It's worth the risk because our offense can't do anything.
  20. Whelp......that was probably it. Got nothing we wanted to see.
  21. I want tempo..... The Bills have to waste a TO to avoid delay of game..... Unbelievable.
  22. I want tempo and at least 1 designed Allen run on this drive. And some work under center might be a welcome sight as well.
  23. Watching this game, you'd think Burrow was the running QB.
  24. FGs aren't going to get it done in this game. Should have gone for it. Used pace all the way down the field. Got to the redzone and decided we got there too fast and we should slow it to a stand still.
