  1. Very uninspired first drive. Let's see some play action......
  2. I think we know now why the line was only 5.5-6. I think the books knew that Cooper and maybe even Benford weren't playing or I think the spread would have been 8+. Not going to be an easy one today and I think we will be frustrated at times. But just find a way to win and move on.
  3. I like our guys, I really do. But I think Wilson is becoming one of the best WRs in the league. Williams is a better all around player than Oliver, although I like Oliver a lot. Hall and Cook are a wash to me. And Benford vs Sauce is yet to be determined in my opinion. Benford is having a much better season this year, but I still think it is too early to call. That said, a top 5 pick vs a 6th rounder even being close is awesome for us.
  4. Pretty sure he has repeatedly said that Knox is his best friend on the team.
  5. Coleman followed up his breakout game last week with another very solid effort today. The TD was awesome and the way he worked back to a couple balls today makes me think he really does understand what it takes for him to be successful in this league. But, as good as today was, it could have been even better. I know there are a few plays he wants back, probably none more-so than the drop on a perfect hole shot down the sideline. He got both hands on it, and I am pretty sure he knows that that is a ball he needs to come down with. But hey, good on the rook for building on a great game overall. Keep grinding, Keon.....
  6. Nice game today. As I mentioned before the game, I didn't have a great feel for how it was going to go, but after the first couple of series, it was pretty obvious we were going to be the better team in this game today. I am actually very interested in seeing the breakdowns from this game and the All 22 tape as well. After watching just the main broadcast, though, I did see some encouraging signs out of the coaching on both sides of the ball. To me at least, just going off the first watch, I didn't get the feeling that we were running on 80% of first downs like we have been a lot of the season. It also seemed like Allen was under center a bit more and we ran some more play action than normal. It wasn't always the most convincing play action, but any effort to implement it is better than not. So, shout out to Brady for changing things up a bit. And, on the defensive side of the ball, the run fits were great in this one. The best of the season by far. So, for as much praise and shout outs for the players we can give, I choose to give the coaching staff their props. They had as good a day as they have had in a long time.
  7. Good on McDermott there. He makes some questionable calls, but that wasn't one of them.
  8. That's one way to take the refs out of it!!!
  9. These refs need to be investigated..... Absolutely wild.
  10. Still working so I haven't been able to comment, but that was a heck of a drive and an awesome catch by Coleman to finish it. Gotta clean up the penalties, though. Made that harder on ourselves than it needed to be. Let's go defense!
  11. When you said at the end you just "want some results", it made it sound like he hasn't been pulling his weight or something. Of course we want him to be the best QB on the field today, and he should be, but let's not pretend this is the same Geno Smith that we watched for years struggle to throw the ball. He's much better and leads the entire league in passing. So, it's not like he is a scrub out there. Not having Metcalf should absolutely hurt them and hinder what Geno likes to do, though, so yes......Allen should absolutely outplay him on this given Sunday for sure. But this is not about Josh vs Geno. It's about their offense against our defense and our defense is without Bernard and already has enough trouble stopping the run as it is even when he does play. Geno could do next to nothing today and we could still lose if they keep breaking off big runs against this terrible run defense. Our best bet would absolutely to come out scoring and force them out of their run game quickly and Allen and the offense should have opportunities to do just that.
  12. Allen carries this team every week........ If Allen is not the QB of this team, we might win 5 games.
  13. Trade rumors are fun and all, but very few every come to fruition as we all know. We also know that Beane has repeatedly said he is involved in just about every discussion for pretty much any available player that can help us. That said, my focus is on 2 positions..... 1 true immovable run plugger 1 Tech and safety. Hamlin is a nice story, but he isn't going to change a game for you or fit the run when you really need it. And, as we have seen repeatedly this season, teams with dominant run games eat this undersized front alive. We have a bunch of quick, athletic guys, but nobody is truly stout against the run. I know Beane has to see it. We all do.... Just have to hope he values it as much as we do because not matter how talented we are, if we can't even slow down the run come the playoffs, we are not going to go very far.
  14. I haven't really been able to settle into this game for some reason. It's easy to say that since Metcalf isn't playing, we should probably be able to win this game comfortably. That said, Bernard is not playing and bad things usually happen to our defense when he doesn't play. I have a bad feeling that Walker and even Charbonnet are going to eat this defense alive in the run game. If they control the LOS like I think they might, those guys can absolutely put up huge numbers against this defense without Bernard. As always, I see screens being a huge problem for us. All that said, I think Kincaid has a chance to have his best game of the season to this point and with a full week in the offense, I think Cooper can contribute again. I actually don't expect him to have a huge game, though, but I do think he will open up the field for guys like Shakir and Kincaid to make plays. Can Coleman build on last week? Hopefully, but I still see him as being a very up and down, inconsistent, producer this season. But, hopefully he can make some big plays and contribute. I think this is a game where Cook could be pretty important. I would like to think this is the kind of game he can get 100+ total yards, but we haven't been utilizing him in the passing game as of late. I think he will have some opportunities as an check down/outlet in this game, though, if Allen wants to use him. But in the end, I still am back and forth on this game. I can find a path to a variety of different outcomes ranging for a close win, a blowout win, or another one of those games we end up losing that will leave us all wondering how they lost. I don't know why I can't get a feel for this one. Maybe because it's against a team we don't see very often or maybe it's because of the cross-country travel. But I think it is mainly because until I see this team actually stop the run, I just won't believe they can do it, especially against their 2 headed monster.
  15. Keon Coleman is so slow that he won't find out that he won Rookie of the Week until tomorrow.......
  16. Some teams make screens look so easy...... I know they got the blitz that played right into it, but man, everyone was just in the right spot and everything was on time.
  17. While I have serious doubts that he will ever be a WR1, and I believe him developing into a WR2 would meet more of what my expectations for him are, he has definitely flashed some potential. But it is going to come down to the way the staff uses him. Outside of a couple of busted coverages, he hasn't shown the ability to get consistent separation down the field which we all knew was going to be a problem coming out of college. However, he has shown the ability to get separation quickly on slants in the short to intermediate areas of the field. He's had mixed results with the back shoulder/timing contested stuff, but we know he does that well and it should only get better and more consistent with reps and time on task. It's tougher to win the contested catch stuff the NFL than it was in college because DBs are just better, but even if the success rate comes down, he can still make big plays on occasion for us. All this said, he is one of the players that will benefit most from having Cooper on the field creating more space for him to work. He should see plenty of one on one opportunities and if the coaches play to his strengths with the slants, stop routes, crossers, and back shoulder throws where he can use his frame to box people out, he should definitely see an uptick in production. I think with Cooper here, you will see a little more consistency out of him and 850 yards and 5-6 TDs is absolutely possible for him this year.
  18. It's this...... Nobody will ever convince me that Mahomes is head and shoulders better than Allen. In fact, in many ways, I believe Allen is the better player. In many of their matchups, Allen has outplayed him, but as it always seems to go, McDermott and his staff gets badly out-coached in critical situations. The Chiefs were the better overall team in our first playoff match up. They were more talented at that time. But ever since then, to me, it has been even at worse and I may even argue we have been the better team. 13 seconds.....that needs no explanation. That should never happen. And, if it doesn't, a lot of the narrative that is out there may not exist, but alas, McDermott got his butt handed to him in a crucial situation. Last year? Injuries to many of our key players definitely played a part. They were completely healthy and we were without guys that created very fortunate match ups for them, particularly on defense. Make no mistake about it. The difference between the Chiefs winning 3 Super Bowls or being bounced in the Playoffs by us the last 2 times we have met is a very fine line. 13 seconds is still aggravating and even if we had a healthy Bernard and nothing else last year, I believe that game goes differently. But it is what it is. Stupid things created this narrative we are kind of stuck in and until we break it, it will always be there.
  19. Until someone does it, he will just keep doing it. He knows he will get away with it because guys will get flags and fines just for breathing on him. But maybe if someone finally lights him up, he'll think twice about it going forward. But I won't hold my breath for it to happen.
  20. Although wins are not, never have been, and never will be a QB stat, the Chiefs are undefeated. They lose a couple of these close games they have been fortunate enough to win, you may hear some whispers, but probably not. The media, much like Chiefs fans, will just say 3 Super Bowls and it doesn't matter if he is outplayed by Allen or anyone else year after year stat-wise. I hate it as someone who believes Allen is every bit the QB that Mahomes is and, in some ways, may be even better. But you will never get a lot of people to say that because his team wins big games and that supersedes the stats in their opinion. Until Allen gets one, it's just hard to counter even if you know that wins are a team stat and not a QB stat.
  21. I saw the stumble. He still wouldn't have scored. Maybe would have gotten a more yards, but he would not have come close to scoring.
  22. If he would have scored on that play I would have stopped poking at him for his speed. Alas, he was pretty easily caught from behind. That said, if we could get days out of him like we got today (outside of the bobble/whatever you want to call it in the end zone), that would be great. I think he will greatly benefit from having Cooper on the field in a full time roll. Also, keep those slants in the playbook. Not only is it one of Coleman's strengths, but Cooper's as well. We should see several slants throughout the game. Hopefully Brady learns to call them more along with more play action.
