  1. I like Davis A LOT!!! I think he will be a FANTASTIC TE. However, I just don't know if the Bills would draft a TE this high. They drafted Everett last year and he is a great prospect. I know he was injured and there are going to be some questions until you actually see him play, but I think, even with the injury, with him being on this team, I don't think Davis would be considered by us. However, if D'BRICK and Ngata are both gone, I would love to see us get Davis. He has very rare ability and would create matchup problems all over the field. Just don't know if the Bills are in a position to take him though even with the Everett injury.
  2. Totally right.......3 QBs have to go. I suppose there could be a huge surprise, but those usually don't start happening until the 10th pick. For us to get one of those top 7 studs, I really believe that 3 QBs must go.
  3. Yeah, it looks as though both Ngata and D'BRICK will be gone at that choice. Although thiere will be some great players at the 8th pick, it seems as though there are 7 TOP choices. After that there is a sleight drop off (especially for the Bills' needs). I guess if that happens, Huff would be the guy.
  4. You have to remember, teams are going to do what is best FOR THEM. They are going to draft the players THEY WANT! A team probably is not going to draft someone that is not a need for them just becaue the Bills want them. That would just be plain stupid and would hurt their own teams. Now, I suppose if a team was looking to trade down in hopes of still picking up a player, I could see where that may come into play. However, every team that trades down for a specific player is taking a huge risk that nobody trades up ahead of them to get that player. Also, if teams behind the Bills have an idea of what direction they want to go in, that may be a concern. However, they are still the ones that have to trade up. And with draft picks worth so much now a days, it is not the easiest thing to do. You could really hurt your team by sending draft picks away to move up a few spots. That being said, I want to give up our 1st and two 3rds to the Jets for D'Brick! Ha! I know that might not please a lot of people around here, but I still think that would help us more than hurt us. BRICK is a franchise LT (not a MW bust.....he just isn't) and you can still get a quality player in the second to really help your team. Third rounders may take a while to develop and I think we could handle not having them this year. Oh well, I know most won't agree with this, but just imagine this line next year if I had my way....... D'BRICK GANDY BENTLEY VILLERIAL PETERS That would be a VERY solid unit and would allow JP to develop into the QB we know he can be. Time to throw makes a QB. That would be a great line to allow that to happen! Oh well, I am just wishing that would happen.....
  5. I really don't think NY will be a player for Breese at all. They are WAY over the cap and Breese is going to be comanding TOP dollare, despite the injury. Unless they trade Abe, which could happen. But even then, with having the 4th overall pick to sign and have a lot of holes to fill, I just can't see then shelling out the huge money that Breese will get. Tennesee is another team that I don't see getting involved. They will draft a QB. I can't see them signing a guy like Breese. Also, I still see McNair staying there. Again, that helps the Bills in this quest!
  6. This thought has crossed my mind more than onec. If ever a year where a "shocker" could take place, this may be the year. Houston does need OL help more than anything, however, in the end I think they bow to the pressure and pick up Bush. But yeah, I agree with you, it could happen and by no means am I as certain as most are that Bush is going to Houston. But, like I said, even if D'BRICK gets by the Jests, it will still be very difficult to get him because there will be teams looking to trade up to get him. He is top 5 talent. Might even be the best player in the draft........that's right, the BEST player in the draft and I just can't see him getting to #8.
  7. I agree completely.......that is why when push comes to shove.......unfortunately for us, we will be playing D'BRICK at least 2 times a year for the next 12 years..... Just think.......if we hadn't beat Cinci.........we would have been picking 4th! That win may have cost us a FRANCHISE LT for the next 12 years.... Like I said earlier...the Bills can never catch a break! They even win when they shouldn't! HA! Now, I will never root against the Bills. I want them to win all the time. But you can't help but think that we wouldn't even be having this conversation if that Cinci game goes the other way. Oh well, GO BILLS!!
  8. Well, in my never-ending quest to find even a glimmer of hope that D'BRICK will somehow get to us, I took a little field trip to some other message boards for the following teams: NY JETS GB PACKERS SAN FRAN 49ERS OAK RAIDERS There was a lot of interesting information on those boards. And, while I still believe that it will be virtually IMPOSSIBLE for D"BRICK to fall to us, there might be a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY SLIM chance. Here is what I was finding. NY JETS Well, this, I believe is the toughest team for D'BRICK to get past. There is a lot of talk about Cutler here, and I think that may be our only hope. We have to hope and pray to God that Cutler lights it up this weekend and the combine. I really see NO taking Leinart and TEN taking Young. I just see that breaking down that way at the end of the day. This leaves the Jets with Cutler or D'BRICK. Now, there is a small chance that Hawk goes here, but that is most likely not happening. In the end, the Jets will probably take D'BRICK, but if not, there may that GLIMMER of hope i was looking for. That is because I see the following happening with the other teams. GB PACKERS There really isn't too much debate here, at least on their message board, that they want to get Hawk or Williams. It seems as though most believe that Hawk will be the pick here, but it could definately be Williams......either way, there seems to be no talk of D'BRICK at all. Not even a mention. They want defense and look to be heading in that direction. That leads us into..... SAN FRAN 49ERS They seem to really want Hawk. There seems to be talk that they will take whoever GB doesn't choose. They want Hawk, but could be willing to take Williams although there are rumors that they may want to trade out of that spot if Hawk is not there. There were some that were calling for D'BRICK here, but to be honest, they just spent a fortune on Jennings last year. I can't see them taking him if he is there, but this is the first mention of D'BRICK since the Jets at #4. With that said, I think he would slide by the 49ers here because they REALLY need defensive help. Huff may be considered here as well, but if Hawk is here, he will be the pick. So, that lease us just 1 more team before our spot. OAK RAIDERS Here is where it gets a little interesting. Not so much in the fact that they want D'BRICK, because I don't think they do, but they really want Super Mario here. HOWEVER, there is a TON of talk over there about another defensive player that will be available at this pick......none other that Haloti Ngata! They are VERY high on him now and there is talk that if he performs well this weekend, he might get the nod here. Seems as though Al Davis loves this kind of player and will not pass him up if he is there and Super Mario is gone. That will probably anger a lot of Bills' fans here as he seems to be the pick that most everyone here wants. He is a solid pick, but it doesn't look as though he will make it to #8 is Super Mario is already gone. That would be a little rough for us because if all these players are gone, we are looking at Safety or Corner.......Huff maybe? Well, I guess I accomplished what I want on my little field trip. I found that GLIMMER of hope, but it is just that...........a glimmer........I virtually guarantee that he will not be there. He is too good a player to slip that far. Even if he gets past the Jets, teams WILL trade up to get him......D'BRICK won't be there. But, in a perfect world where the Bills catch all the breaks, the draft would look like this (barring any trades)........ 1. HOU - Bush 2. NO - Leinart 3. TEN - Young 4. NY - Cutler 5. GB - Williams 6. SAN FRAN - Hawk 7. OAK - Ngata 8. BUF - D'BRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the only way it can happen. I am dreaming, but in a perfect world, this is how the 2006 NFL Draft would play out. There is only 1 sleight problem.......the world is not perfect and the Bills ALWAYS GET SCREWED!!!!! The Bills NEVER CATCH A BREAK! But hey, a guy can dream..........THERE IS JUST NOW WAY THIS DREAM COMES TRUE....... Oh well........should be used to it by now being a Bill's fan for the last 27 years........... Maybe someday!
  9. No....didn't forget him.....Just don't see him as Top 8 at this point (although I like the guy a lot). I am also going based on needs for teams in the top 8 and I just don't know where he fits. He isn't going top 5 and San Fran and Oakland need defense more than anything else. So, I didn't forget about him, but he just isn't going in the top 7 picks.
  10. Put it this way.........If Ngata is gone, that means that one of the following players will be available at 8: Bush Leinart Young D'BRICK Hawk Williams Huff We all know that Bush, Leinart, and Young will be gone. So, that leaves D'BRICK, HAWK, WILLIAMS, and HUFF. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE that D'BRICK will be there and Hawk is a top pick as well. That leave Williams and Huff. Williams is the better player so that means that if Ngata is not there, Huff will be the guy that the Bills have to decide if they want. If they choose not to select him, then it would be logical for the Bills to trade down. Really, there are only 3 guys that the Bills have a chance at that are worth it at 8. D'BRICK (but he won't be there), Hawk and Williams. Those are the only 3 that are worth it for us. What do you think?
  11. OK, here is the biggest thing I took out of those interviews....... DEFENSE It sounds to me that Ngata will be a Bill (I am not thrilled with that, by the way....he is overrated). According to Marv, and to Jauron as well, defense is the key and where they are going to focus all of their efforts. Marv said, without a doubt, that he believes DEFENSIVE LINE is the most important part of the team. With that said, look for D-LINE to be our #1 pick (see above). He then went on to say that OFFENSIVE LINE is the second most mportant part of the team. I really believe that he has these 2 backwards, but oh well. They are both important. I get the feeling that they will address this area more through FA. With who.............well, we all know that Bentley and Hutchinson are the big names out there, but the rest of the league is aware of these guys as well. Not going to be easy. But, according to these guys, it looks as though the Defense is their #1 priority. Not a surprise by any means, but I think these interviews are a good representation as to where this team is going. Oh, and Nate will be a Bill.......that is a good thing, but he needs to step it up. I do hope they get a contract worked out though. Avoid the Franchise Tag if possible, but definately use it if need be. Worse case scenerio is that we end up with some very good draft picks. The next several weeks and months will be very interesting!
  12. I was wondering the same thing!! Fairchild is our OC as far as I know. I have no idea where this story from the front page is coming from. I thought it just might be old news and that Chicago is way behind, but they mention PF as our DC. I have no idea what this is all about......unless it would be for QBs coach. That is the only thing I can think of. VERY BAD EITHER WAY! I don't want this guy anywhere near this organization......
  13. Too bad, but we all know he is a lock. To me though, he was a better player at his position that Aikman and Moon......I personally think he was robbed. He will definately get in next year. We love ya Thurman!
  14. I definately do not think that the Jets trading out of that spot would be a good thing. I like you think if that happened, it would be for no other reason than the drafting of the BRICK. It is olmost like we have to hope that they do stay there and choose someone else.......that is our only chance. Even then, there will be teams looking to trade up ahead of us to get him..... As much as I tried to make the case, I just don't think we have a chance to get him. It would be a miracle.
  15. I think all of the concerns about his run blocking are blown a little out of proportion. He is an above average run blocker. The thing is that his pass protection skills are just off the chart! He is SOOOOOOOO DOMINANT in pass protection that you just have to find something that is a "weakness." Well, the fact is that he really doen't have one. His run blocking skills are very good, but pale in comparrison to his pass blocking skills, hence, that is being said to be his weakness as a player can't be perfect. But more is being made of it than necessary. HE IS DOMINANT. And all reports coming from the Senior Bowl practices say the same thing.....He has just been RUNNING OVER AND THROUGH EVERYBODY there. He is said to be the most DOMINANT player that the Senior Bowl and has been the most DOMINANT LT all year. He will be a fantastic player for years to come. That being said, I just convinced myself there is no way he is there at 8. Oh well.........hopefully we can come up with stud player of our own. Just hope it is not that overrated Ngata guy. Talk about not being able to live up the the hype.......I have him as a mid to late 1st at best. I just don't see "star" written all over him. He is just a sleightly above average DT.
  16. Well, as you all know I am VERY high on getting D'Brick in here with our first round pick. He is a dominant pass blocker and a franchise LT for years to come. He has been the talk of the Senior Bowl and from all reports has dominated all of his competition (as expected). The only knock on him at all is the fact that he plays a little light, which will hurt his run blocking some. However, after his performance this year and at the Senior Bowl practices, that doen't seem to be an issue as he is the stand out player there. He is going to be a fantastic player in the NFL for years to come. This is the guy I want and I know many of you want as well. But, he is slated to be a top 5 pick in the draft. That is the problem. And with Marv's history in the draft, we will not be trading up.....or down for that matter. I don't recall Marv making any moves in the draft hardly at all. With that said, our only chance at getting him is at 8. From all the mocks that are out there, there really is 1, maybe 2 teams in our way that have a great chance of getting him. The team of most concern seems to be the Jets at 4. So I took a stroll over to their message board to see what there big draft hype is all about. As expected, BRICK seems to be the favorite as of now. HOWEVER, it is interesting to note that Jay Cutler seems to not only be on their radar, but is quickly gaining some steam to be picked at 4. There is also talk of them trying to trade that pick and move down to 7 or so to take him there (before Detroit). There is also some talk to DeAngelo Williams there as well. Also, there is an outside chance that you may see AJ Hawk go there as well.....seem like Mangini's type of LB and with them running a 3-4 Defense, that could be the choice. BUT, overall, it looks as though BRICK is the favorite to go to the Jets at 4. However, after spending some time there, I believe there might be a SLIVER of hope that the Jets pass on him, leaving there a decent chance he might be there at 8 for us. D'BRICK might be the best player to come out of this draft according to a lot of people. I am just hoping he slides to us. Likely.....no. But, there might be an outside shot. Then we have to worry about Green Bay and even San Fransisco. So, it probably won't happen, but I am hoping the miracle takes place and he ends up here.
  17. If this is indeed true, I am going to post again my idea for DC. As I stated earlier: Well, it looks as though the Bates hiring is far from a done deal. With that being said, I would be a HUGE fan of bringing in Mike Singletary for the job. He is not only one of the best LBs of all time, but one of the best players in the entire NFL ever! PERIOD. He knows defense and what it takes to be successful. He is a great teacher as well. I don't know how many of you guys saw the piece yesterday on the NFL Network where he was coaching at the Senior Bowl, but it was a great illustration of his coaching technique and his ability to teach. He is a great coach. I think if given a chance, he can not only be a fantastic DC in this league, but he may turn out to be a FANTASTIC Head Coach in this League someday! I say forget Bates and bring in Singletary!
  18. They did not give any reasons or information. They just said he wouldn't be back.
  19. Just said it on the 11:00 sports..... Kind of a big loss if you ask me........
  20. Well, it looks as though the Bates hiring is far from a done deal. With that being said, I would be a HUGE fan of bringing in Mike Singletary for the job. 21. You have to remember that some of these coaches would not even be here if it were not for Jauron. Jauron has a ton of respect around the league and most coaches view it as an honor to work with him. If Jauron were not here, who knows if these other coaches even come in here. I mean look at Mangini....Un known and has not earned the same respect. Not only can't he hire a new staff, but all of the current staff wants out! It is impossible to know if Jauron will turn out to be a great coach, but one thing is for sure.....the respect that Jauron has around the league has been paying immediate dividends in hiring a quailty staff. If Bates does end up coming in.......well, I guess you would have to say he has been a great hire for us so far.
  22. As much as I want BRICK, he will not be there at 8. He is just too talented not to be a top 5 pick. Even if the teams that are slotted in there right now don't take him, someone may move up in the draft to get him. There is like a .0000000001% chance that he is there. If he is and we do select him, I will be doing backflips, but I just don't see him getting to our spot.
