Every single time I see this guy I feel like I am watching the next Drew Brees. The guy can read a defense, gets the ball out on time, and is deadly accurate. If he was 2 inches taller, there is not a doubt in my mind he would be the #1 overall pick. Honestly, I think he is the perfect QB for the Bills and where offense is going in the NFL. Because his decisions are so quick, and he can read a defense faster than most, coupled with arm strength and decent mobility, it makes him the perfect kind of guy to run an RPO based offense. I think this is the next big thing in the NFL and what we have seen to this point from the Eagles and a couple other teams is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to RPO based offenses. This guy will be great at it. He can make every throw you want on the football field while also using the right amount of touch on all of his throws when necessary. Add in his fiery competitiveness and underdog mentality, there is no better team he could end up on than the Bills. For me, not coming out of of this draft with Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield would be an all time failure on Beane's part. With the ammo we have, there is no reason we shouldn't get 1 of those 3 guys. No excuses.

If they like Chubb, the best way for this to work for both us and them is for us to somehow strike a deal with Cleveland at 4. If we can get to 4, we can pretty easily get to 2. Everyone knows we are taking a QB. Everyone knows the Jets are taking a QB at 3. So, we need to get to 4, call the Giants and tell them we are going QB for sure and then get them to trade with us to 4. We get the 2nd QB off the board. The Jets get the 3rd QB off the board, and the Giants still get Chubb at 4 along with whatever we trade them to move from 2 to 4. This is a win for both teams. Bills get their guy, the Giants get their guy, and both teams in the process screw over the Jets in some way. It's a win for everyone.

He's a guy that has every physical tool you dream about a QB having. That said, I have watched a lot of him and he is slow to process the field, he's late on throws all the time (gets away with it because of his arm in college, but probably won't in the NFL), and he bails out of the pocket way too early, way too often. If you watch him, a lot of the "wow" throws he makes, which are impressive, are unnecessary in a lot of ways. I mean, this might be a bit of a stretch, but he is a lot like Tyrod in terms of reading the field and bailing out too early. Because he is slow through his reads, he bails out of the pocket a lot, even if there is no pressure, WAITS to see guys come open and then throws. Taylor had the same problems having to wait to see guys come open. Allen gets away with it more because of his arm strength, but he is not a guy that throws guys open a ton and the ball comes out real late too many times for my liking. That is where the comparisons to Taylor ends because Allen is a superior passer for sure, but the way he reads the field, bails out early, and has to wait for guys to come open to throw many times is very concerning to me. Give me a guy that moves around in the pocket, slides up, and steps into a throw any day over Allen. Allen may turn out to be good someday because, as I said, he has every tool you look for. But there are more things that concern me than don't and I would be much more comfortable with several other guys in this class before him. Right now, he's behind Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield.....at least. Maybe even Jackson. There are much better options in this draft and I hope the Bills see it too.

Just wanted to remind everyone that might be interested in checking it out, the USC Pro Day is currently airing live on the NFL Network. They have run some 40s and cone drills to this point. Darnold will be throwing soon. He is currently doing stretching and some light warmups as he prepares to show the Browns, and the rest of the NFL, what he has. I know we haven't been focused on him much because we all anticipate he will be going #1, but it still might be worth checking out just in case. I can tell you the Browns have a ton of people there including their owner, so we can all see where this is most likely going, but hey.....you never know. I haven't heard who the Bills have there in attendance, but if I get that information somewhere along the way, I will update the post. So, to all of you that tune in, enjoy!

TMZ Sports obtained this video of the crazy fight that went down Monday night in a downtown L.A. apartment building. Zay is stark raving nude while grappling with his brother -- Cayleb Jones of the Vikings. You can hear Zay yelling, "I'm going to fight for Jesus" ... and according to witnesses, Cayleb was trying to stop him from jumping out a 30th floor window. Zay eventually broke free, and ran into Cayleb's gf's apartment ... you can hear her screaming. We're told at some point, he ran back out of the apartment, entered a public balcony area and smashed his foot through a window. Photos from the scene show blood on the shattered window, and all over the floors and walls. We're told Zay actually tried to squeeze through the hole in the window, but Cayleb restrained him until police arrived, and arrested him for felony vandalism. Jones was the Bills' 2nd round draft pick last year. According to law enforcement sources, he's being held in the medical ward of L.A. County Jail. It's unclear what his condition is at this point. We've reached out to the NFL, but no word back yet."

From the moment they passed on Mahomes and Watson a year ago, I EXPECTED this to be the year that we invested everything into finding our next franchise QB. I have been on board with taking this approach for years now and, finally, I thought the Bills were to. Sometimes you just have to take your swing and do everything you can to make sure you find your guy and then build around him. We have been filling every other hole on this teams for years and what happens? Players come and players go....... Holes are filled and new ones are created all while we remain a middling team that is never good enough to win anything. Why, because the biggest hole on this team has been QB the entire time and yet, we have ignored it and have never taken a major swing at getting the position right. Well, now is the time. That said, I am on board for doing whatever it takes to get to #2 this year.......with 1 exception...... The Bills have been working towards this goal of finding a franchise QB for the last year. We have let very good players walk out the door, added draft picks, have moved up in the draft already to put us in a better position for a final move into the top 3-5 picks. Now, they just need to finish the job. Trade whatever you need to trade to get to #2. I don't have a problem with it unless all of this stuff was done to get to Josh Allen. Lord help me if they trade multiple first round, 2nd round, 3rd round picks.....and really good football players over the last year in order to draft Josh Allen. Look, Allen may be good someday, but as I have been saying, there is a much better chance that he never pans out. All the tools, but I don't see the accuracy and the ability to read defenses quick enough to be a star. I think there is a good chance he flops. So, yeah......trade everything you have to and if you come away with Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield, I'm good. It's time to have an elite prospect at the QB position on this team. But if they like Allen, I'd rather stay at 12, draft Jackson and use the rest of our picks.

I'm sorry....this is so dumb. There is no possible way for Sal, Rodak, Patrick, or anyone else for that matter to know whether the 2 GMs have talked. Unless the "source" is the GMs of the teams, and you have a wiretap on their phones, there is no way to know. Even if you asked the GMs, you can't trust a word they say at this point. The fact is, it would be irresponsible on both teams parts i they haven't talked, even casually, about if the pick is available and what it might take. The teams would be doing a disservice to themselves if they don't have some idea of where they each stand on a possible trade. And yeah.....there is no way any fan or media personnel knows who has talked to who and about what at this point unless the rooms are bugged or the phones are tapped. This whole thing of did they or didn't they is pretty dumb if you ask me. And if they haven't talked, then shame on both teams because that's pretty stupid to not even have a 30 second conversation to see if it was available at all.

The money just came back on Preston Brown's contract...... How'd he do compared to the money I said I thought he was worth? This is not me saying I told you so or anything like that. He maybe could have gotten more elsewhere for all I know. But the fact is that he is not an elite player. He is a decent player that is replaceable and not worth the big money other LBs were getting. Regardless, we do have a big hole at MLB now and I do expect it to be addressed early in the draft, depending on what picks we have left if we trade up. There are some good ones in the draft and I expect we might be better at MLB next season depending on who we get.

This is where I wish I knew what the Bills know at this point. My guess is they have a pretty good understanding of who the Browns are taking at 1 and I would not be shocked at all if they had a good feeling about who the Jets want at 3. The Bills might even have a guess is to how serious Denver is about taking a QB at 5. All of that information is very important when it comes to deciding how much I would be willing to give up. If I know that Darnold is going to Cleveland and the Jets are taking Rosen, I am more apt to want to trade up. But if the Bills think it is Darnold and Allen in spots 1 & 3, and they think the Broncos are not going QB at 5, then I am willing to take the chance and only trade up to 7 and saving a lot of assets in the process. I guess I just think that the Bills brass know more about how the top picks are shaping up than we do on the outside and that means they know more about where they need to get to to get their guy. I have been saying all along I want 1 of Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield. If the Bills honestly believe there is a chance to get one of them, maybe even 2 of them depending on how it plays out with Allen, after pick 5......then I say roll the dice and see if you can get one of those 3 guys at 7. Trade up to make sure you get the guy you want and don't allow the Dolphins or Cards to beat you up the board, though.

Like I said above, maybe the Bills have a firm grasp on what the the Giants, Jets, and Broncos are planning to do. Ideally, Darnold, and Allen are the QBs that come off the board early to the Browns and Jets. Then, the Giants and Denver decide to pass on a QB allowing Rosen and Mayfield to slip to the back half of the top 10. From there, once they slip out of the top 5-6, the Bills make the move for their guy in the 7-9 range (making sure the Dolphins or Cards don't get any ideas) only giving up a fraction of what they would have to in order to get to 2. Although unlikely, it could happen. But, at this point, this would be the ideal scenario. If this turns out to be the case, give Beane GM of the decade now......

The only thing I take solace in at this point is that I find it hard to believe that the Bills were caught off guard by what happened yesterday. There was no way that the Bills didn't know that trade was happening or that the Jets were trying to move up. It's not like the Colts and the Jets were keeping a big secret from the rest of the league. I am sure the Bills were called by the Colts, told of the trade and asked if the Bills wanted to beat the offer or needed to work to beat the offer. The Colts would have been dumb not to call every team in the league asking teams if they wanted to beat the Jets offer. With the reports that the Jets called about #1 as well, the Bills were well aware of what was happening. And, in the end, the Bills must have decided to let the Jets go ahead with the move because there is no doubt that they had a lot more assets to offer than the Jets did. Even if the Colts told the Bills they didn't want to drop out of the top 10 or so, the Bills could have easily told them to sit tight, put a package together to get a little higher than 12, and then make their own deal with the Colts. But, the Bills obviously didn't want to do that for whatever reason. I don't know why the Bills didn't want to get involved in that yesterday. They must have their reasons and maybe we'll find out why over the next few weeks. Maybe they have a deal in principle with the Browns or Giants already. Maybe, and not saying I agree with it, the have Jackson as their top rated QB and believe that they can get him at 12 and don't have to move. I don't know. The one thing I do know is that the Bills were well aware of what was going on with that trade yesterday......probably for days before it happened and they decided to let it happen without putting up a fight. Why.....hopefully we find out sometime soon. But I guarantee they weren't shocked hearing the news. Laziest comparison I have ever seen. Just terrible. Look, Jackson may not be a top prospect or turn into anyhting special in the NFL, but to compare him to Taylor because he is black and can run is lazy. The guy has more pocket presence, vision, arm talent, and throwing ability than Taylor could ever dream of having. On top of that, as good of an athlete is Taylor is, Jackson is even a better athlete as well. I am not sure if Jackson will ever be good in the NFL, but to compare him to Taylor is awful. Taylor, as a passer, is one of the worst pure passers in the history of the league.

Losman had a much bigger arm and was a lot more mobile.... Rudolph might be a little more accurate, but he misses easy throws than no NFL QB should miss on a regular basis.

Wow.....this comparison couldn't be further from the truth. I watched every single one of his games and the last guy he should be compared to is Tom Brady. The guy throws a beautiful deep ball. Maybe the nicest deep ball in the entire class. After that.....nothing. Weak arm, especially for a guy that size. Inaccurate on short to intermediate passes. Plays in a gimmick offense that spreads the field and designs guys to get open. Works only out of shotgun. Not a great runner to say the least. His ceiling is not high at all. Good kid. Well respected and a hard worker, but will need a lot of work to become even an average NFL QB. Tom Brady he is not.

If this is true and the Bills love Allen, then I think a big thank you is needed for the Jets for the trade they made yesterday. If the Bills had intentions of trading a ton of assets away to get into the top 5 only to draft Josh Allen, then the Jets may have done the Bills a huge favor yesterday. The only thing that is worse than not being able to trade for for the guy that we want is trading up for Josh Allen. If Allen makes it to 12 on his own, I am still not sure I want to draft him anyways. But trading multiple first and 2nd round picks for Allen would be a disaster. Look.....Allen could very well be good someday. Who knows, he could turn out to be the best QB in the class, but man.....there is a much better chance that he won't be and I would prefer some other team to take that chance.

That's the point, though. Just because fans are not in the front office doesn't mean they don't know what they are talking about. There are many of us that watch a ton of college football, break down the film and have just as much of an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of a prospect that he teams themselves do. Do any of us know for sure who will be good and who won't? No. But neither do the teams. But we are smart enough to know what prospects may give us the best chance in getting it right and you are much likelier to hit on one if you get a top prospect rather than a 2nd tier guy. Can the 2nd tier guys sometimes turn out? Sure. But we haven't had a QB here in 20 years mainly because we never put ourselves in position to have a chance to get a top prospect. We had that chance this year and if we don't come away with a top prospect, then it's been failure in my opinion.

And if the Bills wanted a guy and the Giants decide they don't want to move? Then it is about the Jets being smart and the Bills being on the outside looking in......yet again.

Ok...... Been thinking about this situation all day and it is pretty much a disaster for us in every conceivable way. From the moment they passed on Watson and Mahomes in the draft last year, this season was about 1 thing.....getting a franchise QB. Today made that a lot more difficult. I hope we can get to 2, but that may be impossible at this point. The only silver lining to the Jets trading up today that I could come up with is if it has been the Bills plan all along to trade up for Josh Allen. If the Bills had wanted to do that, and this move from the Jets stopped that from happening, then thank you Jets. The only thing that makes me sicker than watching the Jets do what we should have already done is watching the Bills trade a ton of assets away only to draft Josh Allen. Otherwise, this is nothing but terrible for us in every way. If we come out of this draft, with all of this ammunition and still no top franchise QB prospect, then it is a complete failure. It's been about finding a QB for a year now (actually years now....). Get it done. Whatever it takes for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield.

If Beane does all of this trading away players, trading away picks, doing everything to get to the top the of draft....... and then drafts Josh Allen..... Holy smokes. I think a lot of the good will and credibility Beane has been building with the fan base would go up in a puff of smoke. Look, Allen may be good someday. Who knows. But I think there is a lot bigger of a chance that he never pans out. There are so many better options at QB in the draft than Allen. I don't want Allen anywhere near this team. Like I sad....he could be good. Heck....he could be great someday. But I rather some other team take that risk. He is not the kind of guy you give up top players and a ton of draft picks for. Whatever it takes for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield.

Thank you. I read all these comments here about what he should be paid or whatever completely disregarding what I said..... I said that I would pay him no more than $4mil. Maybe I would have gone to $4.5-$5 on a short term deal if necessary, but that is pretty pricey for a player like Brown. I didn't say he wouldn't get more than that. I just said I didn't think he was worth paying because he never makes game changing plays. He is a good player, but easily replaceable. The guys making $7mil+ should be impact players......not just a guy..... Anyway, I appreciate you actually understanding what I was saying in terms of me placing that value on him and not saying that is what I thought he was going to be paid. I appreciate people that know how to read. I look forward to seeing what he did get from the Bengals, though. My guess is probably around $5.5-$6.5 on a 1 year deal.
