OK.... He was not my first choice. He wasn't even my 2nd or 3rd choice. I believe he is a project QB that will take at least a year or 2 to develop. I firmly believe the Bills should have gone in a different direction, not because I think the other QBs in this draft have more potential, but because they were closer to actually playing in this league. Just tired of waiting to see good QB play in Buffalo. I will say this....Josh Allen, if he reaches his full potential, could be the best QB in this draft. He has all of the physical tools you dream about a QB having. But how long will it take for us to see these tools? I don't know. I watched every game he played this last season and he just has so far to go to be ready to play in this league. His ceiling is higher than any QB in this draft. When he's on, he looks like Dan Marino out there. I'll give him that. But his floor, if he never develops, is Kyle Boller or JaMarcus Russell. Not sure I have ever seen such a gap between the very best and very worst a guy could be. I hope on behalf of all of Bills Mafia that he reaches his ceiling and does it sooner than later. We're all family here, so welcome to Buffalo, Josh. I hope and pray you have a very long and successful career here.

No excuse for Beane now...... This board has fallen perfectly for him. If the Bills don't land Rosen, he has FAILED. Period.

Colts take Quenton Nelson
-
Broncos took Bradley Chubb
-
Browns took Denzel Ward ........ Really? They wouldn't trade down because of him?
-
Jets took Darnold
-
I think there is a big possibility it is Rosen here......

It's Barkley
-
It's Mayfield...

I really want to believe the Bills are smart enough to stay away from Allen.... I really do. But I just have this nauseating feeling that Josh Allen will be a Bill in the very near future. If the Bills, after all of the draft trades, player trades, and a year plus of researching these players end up with Josh Allen in the end? What a disaster. The only thing that makes all of that worse is trading up for him in the process.... If Josh Allen is a Bill at the end of this draft, the clock starts ticking immediately on Beane and company..... Please Bills...... don't mess this up. Whatever it takes for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield.

A team in the 20s calls, wants 12 for 2018 and 2019 1st, and ?

HERE WE GO! GIANTS looking to TRADE DOWN
sven233 replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As long as it's not a trade up for Allen, I don't think you will hear that much out of too many. Sure, there might be some upset as to the price to move up, but the majority of us will be fine with the price, no matter what it is, to land Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield. -
HERE WE GO! GIANTS looking to TRADE DOWN

Here's what I hope...... 1. The Giants stay put and don't draft a QB or 2. The Giants trade with the Bills and we end up with our guy or 3. This might be the best scenario...... Because of the personal relationship and friendship with Beane, even if they can't come to an agreement on a trade, Gettleman at least tips Beane off as to what they are looking to do. If the Giants let Beane know they will not be trading with anyone else, and will not be taking a QB, then that information is almost as good as a trade. The Bills know they can then do what they need to do to get to 4 and still get one of Mayfield, Darnold, or Rosen. I'm not sure if that personal relationship is good enough to get that information out of Gettleman, but it would sure help provide clarity to Beane as to what he needs to pull off tonight. It would also help to know who the Jets are taking, but that is probably less likely to be able to find out. -

They can't get to 2...... They can get to 9-10, though. -

Yeah....this is definitely interesting if Beane did say this. He wouldn't say this if he didn't know what the Giants want for #2. It would be impossible for him to say this if the Giants told him they weren't open to trading or, if they were open to trading, what it would take. So, yeah, if Beane did say he has the ammo to get there, he definitely knows the price and something might be on the table where he just needs to pull the trigger. No way Beane could say this if there wasn't a price already out there on the pick. -
That's the thing.... I'm not so sure the Giants do pass on QB. I know there has been a prevailing thought that they won't, but until they don't take one, I still believe there is a good chance they do. Hopefully they don't and we have a shot at Darnold or Rosen, but there is a good chance the Giants pivot and decide to take a QB.

As much as this will drive me insane, I think it's time to go watch some Allen highlights. I think he's going to be a Bill tonight and it is frustrating to no end. I watched all but 1 of his games live this season and I just want no part of him. But if the Browns do take Mayfield at 1, there is a very high chance the only guy we have a shot at is Allen. If that's the case, I'd rather the Bills just take Jackson. Allen is my 5th QB and is not even worth the 12th pick, let alone a guy you trade up for. At least watching Allen's highlights will make him look like Marino. Unfortunately, the plays they don't show in those highlights make him look like Manuel, Boller, Russell, etc. Uggggh.... After all this, to get stuck with Allen..... What a disaster.
-
If this is true, there is no doubt in my mind that the Bills will do everything they can to get to 2. The Giants may very well take Darnold, but I'm not sure they want a QB. The thing is the Bills will have to get to 4-5 first to convince the Giants to trade.

What Do Beane & McDermott Have To Do...
sven233 replied to Scorp83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing..... They can't sell it. The clock starts ticking on their employment status. If Allen turns out to be good, that's great. If he turns out like most of us think he will........ TICK TOCK.....TICK TOCK. -
Reported on NFL Network; Browns going Allen or Mayfield
sven233 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look..... I personally love Mayfield. I would give up a ton to have him be a Bill tomorrow. That said, the Browns are not taking Mayfield first overall tomorrow. No way. I know it is being reported that it is between Allen and Mayfield, but I don't buy it one bit. I have believed, and will continue to believe, it's Darnold until they pick someone else. -
Interesting Take From QB Guru on Allen
sven233 replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone knows how I feel about Allen on this board. I want no part of him.....especially if it requires a trade up. There are 4 other guys in this draft I want more and I think it would be a failure to come out of this draft with Allen. However, I will say this about Allen and defend him a bit. I watched all but 1 of his games this year. We all know he has the physical tools you dream about a QB having. But one of the reasons a lot of us a terrified of taking him is his accuracy and completion percentage. What Palmer, Mayock, etc. are saying is indeed true. The offense he played in was a vertical offense that very rarely incorporated routes at less than 10 yards. Yes, he did miss easy throws, but if you watch the games, you realize a lot of their offense was pushing the ball down the field in chunks. You didn't see a ton of swing passes, screens, slants, etc. Most everything was designed to push the ball down the field in chunks. So yes.....with an offensive scheme designed to do this, it is only natural for the completion percentage to be down a bit. Coupled with a complete lack of receiving talent, Allen was not put in the best position to succeed. That said, there is no way his completion percentage should be THAT low playing in that conference. To me, the reason I don't want him is more about other things. I think he is slow to read the field at times, he very rarely anticipates throws and waits to see guys coming open to throw the ball winch cause him to be late on throws, and he bails out of the pocket way too early far too often. Add that to the accuracy issues and you have a project QB that I want no part of. There is such a disparity between how good and bad that Allen could end up being. If he reaches his MAX potential, he could be Marino. However, if he doesn't, there is a chance he could be out of the league or relegated to backup status before he ever sees the field. Look, Josh Allen could very well end up being the best QB in the class when it is said and done. He has the best physical tools in the draft. But this is about achieving that potential and I firmly believe Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield all have a better chance to succeed. I could also make the case that Jackson is a guy I would rather take than Allen. I don't want to draft Allen. I have been pushing all along to do whatever it takes for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield. WHATEVER IT TAKES. Let some other team take the chance on Allen. But as a guy that has watched a ton of Allen, not just the highlights, and just not looking at stats, I wanted to defend him a bit because he deserves a little better than what he has been getting. That said - DARNOLD, ROSEN, OR MAYFIELD. FINISH THE JOB.
