I can't believe we are still not sending an extra guy. Not getting there on a regular basis with 4.....getting run over, and NO CHANGES on defense. CHANGE IT UP!!!!! -

If we could just hold onto the freaking ball, we'd be in control of the game. 4 turnovers is unacceptable...... -

Why are we running all the outside sweep plays with Jackson? He's just not fast enough. You need to pound him between the tackles. Let CJ get those outside touches. -

Heads up guys.......it is what it is. Should we be up 2 TDs right now? Maybe. But, it didn't happen. These 2 teams are slugging it out right now and we do have the lead at halftime. If you would have been told that we would be up 7 at halftime, every single one of us would have taken it before the game. We have caught some breaks and we have given them right back. We're halfway there and outside of a few bad plays, we are playing OK. Defense has to be stronger against the run in the 2nd half and we have to control the ball on offense. We will need more points to win, most likely, but it we're not in a bad spot at all. KEEP FIGHTING. Let's EARN this win. -
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora Bills are releasing veteran stalwart P Brian Moorman. Surprise move. Have a feeling he might not be a free agent all that long. Wow. Yeah, he hasn't had a great start to the season, but this is still very surprising.

I know.....completely lame. Yeah, it may be the rule, but it is absolutley awful.......

I see your point, but the fact is I was not making reference in to anyone in the media in particular about this specific case. Do you agree that some media members out there, regarding any topic....not just in particular the Bills.....but about anything sometimes are a little biased? If you think that it is possible that does happen sometimes, then that is all I am trying to say. Also, In regards to the Bills and their receivers. Let's just assume for the moment that Johnson, Nelson, Chandler, and Jones are going to be your primary receiving threats this year. Are you concerned with their dropping the ball so far? If not, we are basically saying the same thing. Now, if you want to get into the depth at WR, then there might be some issues way down the line. I don't like Martin at all. He's been dropping balls ever since he got here. Easley still has to prove he can do it. TJ is a rookie so who know what we have there. Roosevelt....well, there is no arguiing that when he gets open, he catches everything thrown his way, Hagan.....well, he has been pretty solid in camp so far. Are there drops by some of these guys? Sure there are. But hopefully with the top guys I mentioned, and with Jackson and Spiller catching balls out of the backfield, those bottom 2-3 guys that do make the team won't be depended on heavily and the drops won't be an issue.
-
WOW.....A little defensive, aren't we? I fail to see where I mentioned you specifically in my GENERAL comment about the media. I did not specifically attack you or anyone else in the media. Sorry you took offense to my report. Look, I am not saying you, or anyone in specific, is not doing their job. I am actually sure you would agree that there are people, without naming any names, in the media that like to hear themselves talk and have a specific agenda. That's all I was saying. My job is not in the media. I was just there as a fan reporting on what I saw. On that specific day of practice, I wasn't concerned with the drops by the receivers and I explained why in my report. Now, if Stevie Johnson, David Nelson, and Scott Chandler start dropping balls on a regular basis, then I wil be worried. But I am not going to worry about guys that probably won't make the team anyway dropping balls. That was the question I was answering.......about the dropped passes. Are there dropped balls out there? Sure. Was there that day? Sure. Were they by the guys that will contribute in a major way to the offense this year? No. That is why I am not concerned about the "dropsies" as I was asked about. Finally, again, I am sorry if you took personal offense to my post. I was not singling out anyone. In fact, I am a big fan of yours and your reporting. So, I am sorry if what I was writing came off the wrong way. Like I said....I'm not in the media. This isn't my job. I own my own retail company. I'm not a professional writier and I don't pretend to be. But when someone asks me personally about what I see about a subject, I am going to give my opinion. I know football....I know what I am looking at. You do, and many others in the media do as well. In the end, when asked if I was concerned about the "dropsies", I was basing my opinion on the guys that will matter the mos this season.....not the guys that won't be on the team. Again, sorry if what I wrote came off the wrong way. Didn't mean anything by it.

Yeah...not sure where that poster got that Maybin size comparison thing. Merriman looks rock solid, as he always has. It's just whether or not his leg falls off or not. Hopefully he is fully healthy and ready to go.
-
Just to clarify, I don't necessarily believe we disagree on Merriman. When I said I think he will make an impact on this team, I didn't mean it was going to be as a regular on the field. I think if he stays healthy, what I think you may see is hi getting 20-25 snaps a game mostly in pass rush situations. As for him looking like Maybin.....well, that's not right at all. You have to remember how big our D-Line is now. He is going to look a little smaller when you see him next to Mario, Dareus, Williams, etc. Our D defense is so much bigger in general that he just looks smaller in comparison. He still weighs in probably around 260. Maybin probably was about 220. Merriman is much bigger than Maybin. But regardless of size, I think he will have an impact in a limited role. Like I said, I am hoping we can get 25 GOOD snaps a game fro him. We'll see. Oh....and Jones was OK. Nothing bad to say about him. He did some decent things. He just isn't going to be special. Hoping for a solid year. But the way the Bills are spreading the ball around, he doesn't need to be. There are going to be a lot of guys catching balls out there. In those offense, it doesn't look like there needs to be a distinct #2 WR. Gonna be a lot of guys having to step up. I expect Chandler and Nelson to maybe have more of an impact on the offense than Jones. We'll see, though. I agree with your other observations as well. The one thing I will add, though is that while they will never say it publicly, I really think they are doing everything they can to have Glenn win the LT job. I really think they are hoping he steps up and are doing all the little things to help him win the job.
-
First off, you guys are more than welcome for the report. Happy to do it. I know sometimes reading the media reports you get guys that just like to tell you what they think about things trying to prove their right about something without actually watching practice. So, if just having us fans that know what they are looking for and are just trying to be objective do something like this helps, I a more than happy to. As for the "dropsies", there were definitely plays that could have been made that weren't. There were a few occasions that balls should have been caught but weren't. I don't put as much stock in it because Johnson and Nelson weren't practicing. Those are probably your 2 best receivers. Chandler was catching everything thrown his way and it looks like he will be even a bigger part of the offense than he was last year. Actually excited about the TE position. The "dropsies" that seem to come up are being made mostly by guys that either won't make the team or won't have a big role in the offense. TJ looked pretty good as well. So, when it is all said in done, I think the WRs will be fine. I don't think the drops will be a concern once we get our real WRs out there.

Hey everyone. I haven't done this in a while, but I went to Training Camp today for the first time this year and wanted to share some quick observations. I won't get too in depth because you can find a lot of other reports out there with all the details, but I thought I would share a couple of quick thoughts: - It was extremely warm out there today. I know it was in the mid 90s officially today, so it was definitely into the triple digits on the field. There was a slight breeze, but still very warm. - I have been so excited for football season to get here. I always am. I know I am one of the few that just love everything...every part of the season and off-season. I love the Preseason!!!! Yeah...that's right... I love watching the young guys and the competition for jobs. I can't get enough. But with that said, I haven't been this ready for football to get here in a very long time. This defense had me excited just on paper. Now, seeing this d-line in person......let's just say that things look a bit different. - While I am not going to go into the details of every play, let me just offer a few things in general. Fitz looked pretty good out there. He was decisive and went to the right place with the ball most of the time. He did have a couple throws that were brutal, but for the most part, he looked sharp. - As good as Fitz looked, out back-ups...not so much. Thigpen had the back-up reps today with VY getting the 3rd team reps. While both had a few nice throws, they were as bad as have been reported for the most part. - Fred Jackson was given the day off (at least from team work) so Spiller and Choice got a majority of the reps. Not worried about the RB position. - Stevie Johnson was also given the day off, so it was interesting to watch the other guys work. With Nelson also out again, a lot of the other guys had a chance to shine. Hagan looked like the best of the bunch today. Had a nice TD in front of Gilmore on a great back-shoulder throw by Fitz. Impossible to defend that throw when done right. Jones was OK. He was what he has been. Easley has everything you want in a WR.....size, speed....you name it. Remains to be seen if he can take the physical gifts and turn them into something. - Now.....onto the defense. This is where things start to get exciting. Let's just say that our new D-Line almost has to be seen in person to appreciate the size, speed and athleticism they have. It has been a long time since I have seen a Bills line look like this. Williams, Dareus, Williams, and Anderson.....I CAN'T FREAKING WAIT. - Mario Williams.....We haven't had a guy like this on our D-line in years. Since Bruce. He is an animal. The line looks completely different just looking at them lining up with him at LE. He swapped sides a few times today, so I would expect him to be moved around a little bit this year. - Dareus......MARK MY WORDS RIGHT NOW. Dareus is going to be the best player we have on our D-Line this year. His stats may not say it because of the position he plays, but this guy will be un-blockable at times this year. Playing with this front 4, he will be dominant this year. - Kyle Williams....Had a great day today. Had his leg wrapped, but regardless......he was a force today. In the backfield a lot. - Mark Anderson....His first step is lightning fast. Don't be surprised if his stats look great this year. With teams having to focus on the other 3 guys, he will have a lot of 1 on 1 opportunities. He will make some plays. - Shawne Merriman......Well, here we go. I have to be very careful here. It would be very easy to get ahead of myself here. What can I say right now....he looks great. And I'm not just saying that. He really looked great. He looked a like a completely different player out there than what we saw for 6 games last year. He had burst off the edge, showed great speed and power. It was almost strange to see. He looked like he could really impact this defense this year. I am actually very excited to see how he looks in game action. Whether or not he will stay healthy is anyone's guess, but he looked great today. Couldn't believe it at times. - Gilmore....Up and down day today. Had a pick-6. Got beat by Hagan a couple times. You can definitely see the talent this kid has. He will be special and is far and away our best CB. - Speaking of CBs.....if McGee makes this team I will be stunned. He has definitely hit the wall. Looks slow in the drills and was getting beat by the 2nd team. Not only that, but after every play, he would almost limp back to the huddle with his head down. I know he restructurer his contract, but with the money he is making, I just don't see how he is worth keeping unless they want that Vet presence back there. There is a lot more I could get into, but I am sure most have heard it or seen it in other reports. But there are a couple more notes I have to make. - Brian Moorman hit the biggest punt I have ever seen in my life today. Standing at about his own 20 or so, he booted a punt that went through the opposite endzone......IN THE FREAKING AIR!!!!!!!!! Doing the math, the put traded about 85 yards IN THE AIR!!!!! He was with a slight breeze, but still. It was unreal. - There is a completely different vibe at camp. Everyone is competing. Yeah, most guys probably hate practicing, but one of the coolest things I saw today was after a first team rep. Mario Williams was out on the field and was supposed to come off for Mark Anderson (who was on the 1st team today, but had the previous rep off). Well, Mario didn't want to come off the field when Anderson came running to the field to sub in. Well, after a short discussion, they actually played ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS to see who would get to stay on and take the next rep. Anderson won the game and took the rep, but I thought that was really cool that both guys WANTED TO BE ON THE FIELD FOR PRACTICE!!!! In 100 degree heat on top of that!!!! It was pretty cool. Everyone wants to compete. Even the top guys want every rep they can. So, to sum up the day, it was a solid day of practice for the team. Both sides of the ball had their moments, but I can't wait to see this defense go live and get after someone. It is going to be something special to see. If this team can stay healthy, I'm telling you.....WATCH OUT. This is a different football team. The D-Line is gonna be dominant. If the offense can score enough points, this team will play with anyone. They don't have to score 30 points a game. They just have to be solid and we will be in the mix this year with a chance to do something special. I did take some photos of camp today. If anyone wants to check them out, they can be seen here in my Facebook album: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4468724685658.2178138.1516074644&type=1&l=5938c3c8b8 LET'S GO BILLS!!!!

If he is back anywhere close to where he was 3 or 4 years ago, and stays healthy, this defense could be special. Personally, I want to be optimistic about it just because of the possibilities he would present for us.

RD 2, Pick #41: OT Cordy Glenn - Georgia
sven233 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For all of you that don't like the pick, remember 1 thing....... He is going to be practicing against the guys on our new D-Line every day in practice. He won't see much better talent, if at all, during the season. So, while a bit raw yet, he will get his lessons every day in practice against our line. He'll be fine! SOLID PICK at this point in the draft!!!! -

Hey. I know the news broke a bit ago, but if anyone is interested, here is the video of Mario Williams at at the airport with Paul Peck. Mario Williams at the Buffalo Airport I don't know about anyone else, but I loved the tone of the interview even though there was no confirmation of a signing. But him saying that he isn't leaving and that the visit isn't over.....GOOD SIGN.
