TNF: Jets @ Browns (TT vs Darnold)

Yup......he was my QB1 in this draft as well. It's too early to tell which QBs in this class will be great, but we just need our guy to be one of them. We didn't have a chance to draft Mayfield. One thing is for sure, though....we need to get Allen some help in order for him to have a chance. -

Man.....Allen was ripped apart this week for what I would consider an OK first start. This week alone, I saw Darnold talked about like the 2nd coming and compared to Aaron Rodgers. All along, we have been told by the national media that we were stupid for getting rid of Taylor because he was a good veteran QB and that he would finally get his vindication because of all the good talent in Cleveland. How's that going so far? I'm not ragging on Darnold or anyone else, but I hope everyone is watching this game tonight and realizes that Allen is doing just as much as these other guys, with far less talent around him, to this point. Allen has a LONG way to go, but he doesn't deserve to be talked about being the ugly step-child and as so much less than these other rookie QBs. He is right there with them and, hopefully, shows good progress each week whether we're winning or not. -

No..... More liked expecting it to happen and shocked if it didn't. This has the Pat* written all over it. -
Well, things aren't going to end well in this game, but the good thing is that the team actually showed some signs of life in the 2nd half. The key is building on this. Allen will have a full game under his belt and some good and bad things to learn from. The defense needs to figure out how to duplicate this second half performance right from the opening kickoff. It's gonna be a while before we win, but each week we just need to see some improvement.

Nice drive there. Allen wasn't perfect with his throws, but his teammates made the plays for him. That's what needs to happen. Allen will learn from the mistakes and learn to put the ball in better spots as he grows up, but right now it is about the decisions, going to the right spots, and taking what is there. But his teammates helped him there and they got through it. Good things to take away and learn from. It would be nice to see the defense get off the field quickly and set the offense back up to see if they can keep rolling.

We all talked about the offensive line and WRs having to step up to help Allen today, but the defense is making an impossible situation much worse. They can't stop a nosebleed and it is going to get Allen killed because he will have to throw the ball every play. Here they spent the entire draft and off season "upgrading" the defense and neglecting the offense and the defense may be worse than the offense. Just brutal.
