Gameday thread - Bills and Chiefs 2nd half
sven233 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No matter how this game turns out, the Cheatriots* are going to kill us next week. We have no QB and the most conservative play calling ever because of it. The defense, while a little better overall today, will get gashed again by good QB. -

If only Peterman had as much time to throw as Tyrod has today, I think he is probably still playing. That said.....get a real QB on this team ASAP!!! -

If Tyrod was a decent QB at all, that pitch play never has to be called. Get a QB and many of the other things take care of themselves. -

Man....must be nice to have a MLB like Ragland. Hopefully we'll be able to get someone like him someday.... -

Playing Brees and Rivers...... Don't worry, a reality check is coming again next week. Amazing what a good QB can do..... -
Saying it now: Tyrod will have a big game.

And when we're down 27-3 at halftime (which could happen) and the offense hasn't moved the ball, then what? At this point, I think we probably get blown out the next 2 weeks no matter who the QB is, so maybe play Tyrod the next 2 games and then go to Peterman for the rest of the year starting at home vs Indy. I hope nobody is kidding themselves here. The next couple weeks could get ugly really quick no matter who was named the starter today. -
Tad Dickman @Tdickman89 40m40 minutes ago THE DAREUS EFFECT: Entering Week 9, @Jaguars ranked last in the NFL in rush defense, allowing 138.6 YPG. JAX traded for DT @marcelldareus on Oct. 28. In three games since his acquisition, JAX allowing 55.3 rushing YPG.

To all the posters that will undoubtedly trash each other in this thread, remember 1 thing..... Just because the new QB failed his first test, doesn't mean that the old QB is good. The fact is, our QB of the future is not on the roster. So, whether you are a Tyrod fan or a Peterman fan, it really doesn't matter. Just because they both are not good doesn't mean you have to fight about which one is less terrible than the other one. Really can't wait for the draft at this point. We need a real QB on this team.....whoever that may be.

Yes.....yes he did....

What (do you think) Peterman's stats are this week?

237 Yards 2 TDs 2 Picks 15 Yards Rushing -
Obviously this is a big change and I am in full support of the decision. Could it turn out to be a complete disaster? Sure. But I am one that truly believes we have seen both Taylor's floor and ceiling. We're not going to win a Championship with Tyrod Taylor at QB. In the end, that's really all this game is about. That said....Peterman could be great, or he could be terrible. That remains to be seen. There isn't a lot of information to go off of yet. We likely won't have enough information even if he plays the rest of the season. I mean, there might be so glaring weaknesses in his game that we will be able to spot right away and maybe they won't be correctable. One of the biggest concerns I have is about his arm. Not sure he has NFL arm strength. But, there are a lot of QBs in this league, including some of the very best, that don't have the biggest arm in the world, but they know how to mask it by making quicker decisions and getting the ball out sooner than normal to compensate for that. Will Peterman have that trait? We don't know yet. Anyway, the point of my post was to link to this pretty good write-up about Peterman's debut. It's easy to say this was garbage time, etc..... but I think there is enough information here to show that even though it was garbage time, it wasn't like the Saints were just sitting back letting the Bills do what they wanted. Take a look. Many of you are familiar with these guys already, but they really do some great work. http://www.cover1.net/qb-nathan-peterman-showed-of-his-skillset-in-the-4th-quarter/ Is Peterman the answer? Nobody knows. But it's at least going to be interesting to watch and find out......

Can't believe there are till people out there defending Tyrod....... Getting kind of embarrassing at this point. Look, I like the guy just fine. He would be a great backup to have on any team. But he is not going to lead any team to a Super Bowl. -
Every Nate Peterman throw from the Saints game
sven233 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a word.....plenty. Why? Because he took his drop, planted his feet, made his reads, made a decision, and threw the ball. The ball can out in rhythem and on time. Would he have had more time if he needed it? Maybe. We'll never know because he didn't need it. He is not one to hold the ball any longer than necessary to make a decision. He throws on time and has a pretty quick release. If you want to know the exact time it took him from snap to release, check out the video in the original post. -
I'm just going to leave this here: Before Dareus trade, The Jags allowed 138 yards per game on the ground. After Dareus deal, they have allowed 116 yards rushing combined the last two weeks.

1 bad game? Really?

I've watched virtually every game of the "top 5-6" guys this season in college. Watched a ton of football specifically looking at the QBs this year. If there has been 1 surprise to me, it's been Mayfield. Going into this season, I wasn't overly high on him. In fact, he was probably the one I was least interested in. However, through all of the games I have watched this year, he is the one that have grown on me the most. There is still a lot to be concerned about with his height, size, etc.....all the main concerns people have had about him, but man...there is a lot to like as well. He can make all the throws, ball comes out on time, very accurate for the most part, above average arm, good vision, not afraid of tight window throws, definitely mobile enough, and he's a very competitive guy which I really like. I see his stock rising quite a bit between now and draft day. With that said, will it be enough to get him drafted before we pick? At the beginning of the season i wouldn't have wanted him anywhere near the first round. To this point in the season, I could argue he has been the best in the country. Ir regards to the other guys, there is a lot to like about most of the so-called top guys. Sure, nobody is lighting it up this year like people were saying going into the season. But, there are a lot of reasons for that. That said, the key to finding the right QB is to sift through all the contributing factors (ie. lack of talent around them, injuries, scheme changes, player changes, etc.) and find the guy that does the most things right even if those things are not reflected on the stat sheets this year. So yeah, while a lot of the favorites aren't lighting up stat sheets, at the core of what they are, there is still a lot to like about all of the guys that were projected to come out in this class. Can we get in position to take one of them? Not sure. I would have taken Watson last year. Not because I thought he would be as good as he is now, but because he had most of the tools to work with. And there just some things you can't teach about the position. You either have it in you or you don't. I thought Watson had a chance to be great. Didn't mean he would have been, but you can say that about every QB. But you have to take your swing at some point. I would have done it last year.....hoping the Bills do it this year. -

Garbage time....yes. I know you can't evaluate a lot, but there are things you can look at that show positive signs. There is 1 play in particular that I think you can take somehting away from. At the 1:01 mark of the video, Peterman hit KB on the outside for about a 14 year gain. Now, it's garbage time.....so what can you really take away from it? Well, to me, you can take away 1 significant difference between what Peterman did on the play and what Tyrod would have done on the play. Peterman had a guy over the middle, WIDE OPEN, for about a 7-8 yard gain. It would have been the safe throw. However, he looked further up the field, went to KB, who while open, was not wide open and it was a much tighter throw. But, he threw it to the best WR on the team and trusted he would make the play in a much tighter window. Peterman took his drop, planted, made the quick decision, reset his feet properly, and threw while KB was completing his route. There is not a doubt in my mind that if Taylor had the same exact look, he drops, waits at least 1-1.5 seconds longer to throw, and then takes the dump off over the middle to the FB for 7 yards. He may look at KB, but by the time he realizes he should go there, it would be too late and the window would have been too tight to fit that ball to KB for Tyrod's liking. I virtually guarantee Tyrod would never go to KB in that same exact situation. So yeah.....garbage time? Maybe..... But it's not like the coverage was all that bad on every throw Peterman made. This is just 1 ply that jumped out at me that I believe you can evaluate Taylor VS Peterman because we have seen Taylor dump that same ball off to the FB over the middle MANY times this season, including multiple times yesterday. Peterman had 1 look at the same play design and gave our best WR a chance. What does this mean if Peterman gets a shot in another game? Who knows.....but I am definitely more interested in finding that out than watching Taylor again. -
In response to fans cheering for Peterman entering the game: "I don't listen to the crowd," Taylor said. "As far as people, I'm not really sure who you are talking about," Taylor said. "I've never played for anyone other than my teammates, coaches, family. So other than that, it really doesn't matter to me."- Tyrod Taylor Hey man....if you don't want to play for the fans....if you don't want to play for this city, then it's time to find someone who will. This is OUR team. We care about this team. We need someone at QB that cares about this team and this city as much as we do. If you don't, then we need someone else that does care as much as we do.

Garbage time....yes. Does it mean anything? Maybe....maybe not. But we know what Taylor is and we know he's not good enough. We don't know what Petterman is yet. But man, it was so nice watching the ball come out on time and be thrown to WRs instead of Tolbert. We have lots of holes on this team. None bigger than QB. I don't know if Petterman will be better than Taylor. I actually don't know that he's not already better than Taylor for that matter. But,with the holes on this team, I would much rather learn more about Petterman. Win or lose, he's definitely more interesting to watch than Taylor.

It won't happen, but Petterman should start the next game. Whether he's better that Taylor or not, it is just so refreshing to see the ball come out on time and go to the WRs instead of Tolbert. -

It's garbage time, but it isn't like these throws are dump offs.... They are NFL throws. We know what Tyrod is. We don't know what Petterman is yet. That's enough to make me want to see more.
