12/8/24 Game 14 GAMEDAY! Bills vs Rams 2nd half game Thread

The Rams would have scored on offense anyway. They just saved us time by scoring on the punt itself. -

Crazy to think that in order to win this game we have to score at least 2 TDs and, at minimum get 2 stops on defense in 1 quarter when we haven't gotten one stop yet. -

Just embarrassing defensive play all around. Only real hit we have seen out of our defense all day and of course we hit and hurt our own players....... I'd say it's time for Elam to shine, but he's scratched. This defense isn't beating any great offenses in the Playoffs. Think today is bad? Just wait until next week when we have to play Detroit's explosive offense. -

All this talk pregame as to why McDermott is not in the Coach of the Year discussion. You are seeing why today. His defense gets exposed by good offenses. While it is out of hand already, it's going to get even worse if you don't open up the offense at all as well. This offense isn't built to score quickly anymore. They are more methodical than in years past. Just weren't prepared at all coming into this game. -

Sometimes there's nothing you can do. Nakua is just better than TJ. I mean, most QBs don't throw that ball, but Stafford does because he knows his WR is just better than our guy. -

Just an awful series. Starting to think this just isn't going to be our day. Looks like guys are just going through the motions out there. Not a great game plan on either side of the ball. Out-coached badly in this game. -

Time to completely change up this defense. 3 LBs, and start pressing these WRs. Send pressure at Stafford. The couple times we did in the first half, Stafford unloaded the ball early. You want to keep TJ on the field? Fine. Take Hamlin out, go to a one high safety and live with what comes but force them to work for it. This light box, zone defense that we run plays right into the strengths of the Rams offense. -

I don't think I have ever seen a defensive line get gashed in the run game more than ours has. Untouched forever in these holes. -

What a play design. Props to Brady for building off of one of our best concepts. -

Just so tough to stop that guy. He's so good at finding holes in the zone. He is going to be a nightmare all game long. The Rams are talented on offense. Might have to win a shootout today. -

Yup.....sounds like no Coleman and no Kincaid again this week. Hopefully we get them both back next week. But, it sound like Carter is up, so hopefully he can help! -
I've said my piece about the Ravens game in another thread. The fact is, the next time these 2 teams meet, it will feel closer to the first time than the second time. No Bernard, Benford, Johnson in that game on defense. Heck, you could even throw in Jordan Phillips and Quinton Jefferson into that mix as well as they have proven to be contributors to this defense since they showed back up here. And, of course, that doesn't even take into account Cooper on offense as he wasn't here yet either and Shakir was basically playing on 1 leg in that game. Add in the fact that Coleman and some of the other young guys will have more experience in the next matchup and things will look totally different. Look, I am not saying we would win, but the fact is, that is probably the worst game we have played collectively as a team this season and we still had a chance to win that game right up until the time we decided to bust out one of the worst designed trick plays in history. I am really not sure how much in the end you can pull out of that game and apply to the next meeting. The only thing you can say is that they absolutely steamrolled us in the run game and while that is still a concern for sure, I think if anything, the guys on this defense will take that personally and do everything they can to make sure it doesn't happen again. That game may serve as more fuel than anything else. As for the Chiefs, you will never convince me that they have a better team than we do. However, until this coaching staff doesn't choke things away in the biggest moments, and we play like we have the better team and beat them in the Playoffs, I am not ready to say a thing about them. But that game is more on us and our mental state playing that game than anything else. Just don't beat ourselves for once. Oh, and the next time we actually play them with all of our key players healthy in the Playoffs would be the first time. Let's play that game at full health without having to pull LBs off the couch the week before and having our best corner out and out other one playing on one leg and let's see what happens.

I am all for going for it in most situations when you have a dominant line and offense. Even that one I can understand. But the play call wasn't the best. Overall, though, if you are aggressive with a great offense, you will help yourself more often than you hurt yourself. That said, that one was very high on the aggressiveness meter. Up by 3 against a solid team, but not a flat out dominant one. If it was 4th and a foot or 2? Sure. Go for it all day. But that was closer to 2 yards than 2 feet and that play call just wasn't ideal in that situation.

Impressive kip-up from the big TE in full pads.....

In a straight race? It's probably pretty close because of the age difference alone, but man....earlier this season, Hamlin looked like one of the slowest players I have ever seen in the NFL. I would probably take Micha, but he had obviously lost a step last year, especially as the season went along. That said, he is coming in with fresh legs and no wear and tear from the season on his body. There is a chance he comes in and looks way better than he did last season. Or, he could look shot because he hasn't been training for football games directly. My guess is, though, this didn't happen overnight. I am sure there have been discussions for a while now and I would be shocked if he didn't already have the playbook prior to today to get refreshed on everything or learn anything new that was put in this season. I am guessing he has been ramping up his training and I fully expect him to hit the ground running and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him elevated and on the field in some capacity in the next 2-3 weeks.

There was no arguing the fact that Hamlin was awful earlier in the season. He was. Always out of position, was thinking too much, and was slow to react on top of being physically slow to begin with. It wasn't a great combination. There is also no arguing the fact that Hamlin is playing much better football overall the last few weeks. He seems to have settled in and has been much better and not nearly the liability he was earlier in the season. All that said, having a guy like Hyde in the room, breaking down film and offering every bit of advice he has to offer to Hamlin and Rapp can only be seen as an awesome thing whether he ever plays a down for us this year or not. His experience and leadership is only another positive to be added to the great vibes that are already around this team. And if an injury happens and we are in a pinch, there is nobody else I would rather have sitting in the wings to fill in during an emergency situation than a guy like Hyde that has given everything he has for this franchise for so long and someone who will lay it all on the line for this team to win a Super Bowl if his number is called. Welcome back, Micha! Go Bills!
