"I would be at this moment surprised if that happens." I still think that if their #1 guy is there at 2 they do everything they can to get there. Hopefully there is a Plan B in place to get to 4-5 though if, for whatever reason, they can't get there.
  2. Could you imagine Rosen sliding out of the top 10 and the Pats* moving up to get him? I mean this could be an absolute disaster of a draft night...... Imagine the Bills packaging 3-4 picks together, moving up and drafting Josh Allen and then the Pats* ending up with Rosen for like half the picks when this is all said and done. What a nightmare scenario. The Pats* end up with perhaps the best QB in the draft for peanuts and the Bills packages a ton of assets for a guy that may not even see the field for 2 years.....if he ever does at all. Would make me absolutely sick seeing this play out.
  3. If it's Allen, he may not even be ready in 2 years........
  4. We should be so lucky as to have either one of them come Thursday.....
  5. IT'S RUSEV DAY!!!!!!!
  6. Inaccurate, slow to read the field and the defenses he is playing against, bails out of the pocket too early, poor decisions, and played poorly against bad defenses and even worse against good teams. Look.....I will be the first to admit that if he reached his full potential, he may be the best QB in the draft. HOWEVER, I think he is a development guy at best that shouldn't see the field for 2 years and, even after all that, probably has about an 80% chance to bust. The guy can sling it without a doubt...... But, right now anyway, he can't hit the broadside of a barn. Even if he could, he would probably be too late to see it and would be sacked. Unfortunately, his most impressive throws in college are on the run, and many of them he wouldn't be able to get away with in the NFL because they would be picked by better players. Let someone else take the chance on him. I want no part of him.
  7. This would be the perfect spot for us given the following actually happen: 1. The Browns or Jets take Allen - I want no part of this guy and I will be praying he is off the board by our pick 2. The Giants don't take a QB 3. None of the teams drafting in the top 4 spots trade their pick to anyone (unless it's us) If these things happen, and we can find our way to 5, it would be a dream scenario. Two of Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield will be staring us right in the face and we will get one of the top 3 QBs in the draft at a fraction of the price. The problem is that I can't actually see the Browns picking Allen. I know there is a lot of smoke out there that he may be the first pick, but I really find that incredibly hard to believe. I just don't see how you can watch that guy's tape, look at his stats, and then come out of that thinking this guy is a top 10 pick in this draft. He is a project, at best, and will need at least 2 years to sit the bench and develop. And then, even after all that, I still think he has probably an 80% chance to bust. I would take him at 22, but there is no way I am trading up for that guy. I just have that uncomfortable feeling that Allen is going to be the guy who falls and the Bills will find a way to justify taking him. Really hope I'm wrong, though. From day 1, this draft has been about getting one of Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield......... It's time for Beane to finish the job.
  8. "So don't worry when I give up 5-6 picks in this draft and next year's draft to move up and get our franchise QB" - What Beane is Thinking While Saying this
  9. It's funny.....somewhere in all that he mentions that no way in a million years could he make something like that up. I actually thought about this exact scenario a month or so ago. It's not a theory you put out there too much because it is nuts and virtually has no chance of happening. But when I first thought about the idea a while ago, I could justify it being the right thing for all teams involved, but I think the logistics of putting something like this together are virtually impossible unless the Browns, Giants, and Bills all agree to share who they want with each other in the draft and I can guarantee that chance of that happening are very slim. However, if they did agree to this, this whole thing could come together and it really would benefit every team involved. Granted the compensation the guy in the tweet listed wouldn't be nearly enough, but I suppose something could come together where each team gets the guy they want and the Bills can make make it worth while for both teams if they were actually open to it. But that is where all of this ends...... The chances all 3 of these teams are this open and willing to share so much with each other is almost impossible to believe. Would it be a good idea for all teams involved to work together and make this happen? ABSOLUTELY!!! Especially if every team gets the player that they ultimately want. Chance of it actually happening.... less than 1% for sure. Also, where this guy's story lost me is saying that it was coming from Russ Brandon. Why would the president of the Bills and Sabres just tell some guy, friend or not, what they were going to do in the draft? I don't care if it's family.....you don't explain your draft strategy to ANYONE. That is why all of these theories out there are a bunch of garbage. Nobody is telling anyone factual at this point. The best we can do as fans is look at what the teams are doing and try to piece things together, kind of like what I did the other day in the Darnold visit thread. I have no actual knowledge of what is going on, but based on actions, I put together a plausible theory. That is all anyone, including the national guys, can do at this point. The people that know what is going on inside each organization aren't just going to tell someone outside the organization what is going on.
  10. Before getting into this, I am going to put a disclaimer out there that I am definitely taking the OP with a grain of salt, as it should be. However, if the original report was to have any merit at all, it does lead me into a theory. A lot of this makes sense if you think about it. Up until very recently, Darnold was thought to be the unanimous #1 overall selection. Then, all of a sudden in the last few days, the Bills decided to drop everything and fly out to CA to work out Darnold. On top of this, it was reported for the longest time that the Jets, at 3 no less, never had a plan to work out Darnold because they thought they would have no chance at him. All of a sudden, a report comes out that they have scheduled a workout with him as well. It is very possible that word has gotten out that, no matter who ultimately goes first, it won't be Darnold. Thus teams are scrambling to get workouts in with him. What I definitely find interesting is that the Bills will be one of those teams working him out. Two things jump out at me about this...... 1. The Bills are at 12..... Whether Darnold was going first or not, he's not making it to 12. So, why would the Bills suddenly pack up and travel across the country for 2-3 days (at probably their busiest time of year) to work out Darnold if they thought there was absolutely no chance of getting him? Some would say a smokescreen, but really.....in the situation the Bills are in, everyone knows the Bills want a QB and are wanting to trade up for one at this point. So, the Bills don't need a smokescreen to work out a QB since it is common knowledge they need one and want one desperately. A smokescreen, in the Bills case for a QB, would be fooling nobody. So, to me, this means 1 thing..... The Bills realistically believe they can get high enough to get Darnold if he is their guy because, even if he doesn't go 1, he isn't getting past 3. With that said, here is where I think it is time to take things a bit further 2. Why would Darnold agree to work out for the Bills if he and his agent didn't believe the Bills had a shot at drafting him? This is an angle I don't hear talked about nearly enough. Darnold and his management team may not know if he is getting drafted at 1, but they do know he will not make it out of the top 3 (most likely). So, why would Darnold and his management team work out for a team, like the Bills at 12, if they didn't believe that he could be selected by that team? In the past couple weeks, there have been multiple reports of players getting injured, some really hurt, just weeks before the draft in these pre-draft workouts. Why in the world would Darnold and his management team work out for a team outside the top 5, let alone the top 10, and risk injury, no matter how serious, so close to being a top pick in the draft? That wouldn't be smart or good business at all. All they would need to do is politely decline the workout not wanting to risk anything at this point. So, to me, this may be an indication that the Bills have convinced Darnold and his management that they may have a path into the top 3 and would highly consider drafting him. The Bills must have been convincing enough to Darnold and his management that they have that chance to draft him to get them agree to the workout. For me, it has been pretty simple all along throughout this draft process......WHATEVER IT TAKES FOR DARNOLD, ROSEN, OR MAYFIELD. Granted, it has mainly been about Rosen and Mayfield to this point because I have been figuring, like just about everyone else, that Darnold was going #1. However, if the information in this post is true and teams have gotten wind that the Browns are going in a different direction, it really would explain the Bills suddenly flying out to LA and the Jets all of a sudden adding Darnold to their workouts as well after stating they wouldn't be working him out at all. It has always been my feeling, that if there was any possible way to make it happen, the Bills would LOVE to draft Darnold. I can pretty much guarantee he is their QB1 on the board and would love to get him. The draft can't come soon enough......
  11. I listen on occasion because I can't get enough Bills talk, but this show should probably be called "The Company Line." So generic and their opinions very rarely are anything to talk about because they have to spin the company view and outlook. Can't really say anything controversial at all on that show.
  12. This whole situation is a bit off. Ever since he agreed to the pay cut and then, shortly thereafter, firing his agent, something just hasn't seemed right. This is just a theory, but is there any possible way that Richie, when agreeing to take the pay cut, thought he was simply restructuring his contract for this year and was thinking he was just helping the Bills with some cap issues this year, but still going to make the same money throughout the restructured contract (maybe an extra year). Was there some sort of miscommunication between him and his management about this whole thing and that is why he is pissed at the contract, and thus firing his agent? I know it seems absurd that this could even be a possibility that he couldn't understand his own contract, but why would he be happy to stay with a pay cut and then fire his agent and then complain about the contract. Very strange.
  13. Look, while it may be possible that the Pats* trade up, I really doubt it. They LOVE trading down and I actually expect them to do that a couple times. I wouldn't be shocked to see them trade down from 23 and pick up a 2nd or something next year. Who knows, they may scam someone out of picks this year and next year for that pick for all we know. That said, by trading down and getting more picks, it makes it more likely they WILL take a QB either late in the 1st, or in the 2nd with the picks they get for trading down. The Pats* always seem to find a way to accumulate a ton of draft picks by trading down.....a practice I fully support and would love the Bills to do just about every chance they get, except for this year when they need to trade up for the QB.
  14. The fans may riot if come draft day the Jets and Pats have done what they needed to do to get to the top of the draft for their QBs of the future and the Bills sit on their hands. I can't imagine what will happen around here if the Pats*, after killing us for 17 years with one QB, find a way to get ahead of us in this draft, where we were loaded with picks, and pick a QB ahead of us. What a nightmare.
  15. No.....no they don't. At least they better not. Josh Allen is not the type of player you trade multiple good players and multiple first and 2nd round picks to acquire. They do that, and he flops like most think he will, we'll be looking for a new coach and front office sooner than we want to be. There is no way this front office gives up virtually everything they have to take a chance on Allen.
  16. Huh? Second favorite team? You mean another sport, right? When you bleed Bills red, white, and blue, there is no such thing as a second favorite NFL football team.... So, I'll say the Buffalo Sabres.
  17. If it ever got to a point where a trade was agreed upon for #1 or #2, it better happen immediately. Otherwise, if it is for any other pick, it won't happen until the pick that we are trading for is no the clock.
  18. Happy = Any mock where we get Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield Sad = Any mock where we get stuck with Josh Allen or any mock that has us taking Rudolph in the first round Indifferent = Any mock where we get Jackson
  19. I hope the Bills do whatever they have to do to get him as well..... In the 4th round......
  20. The XFL starts in 2 years!!!! Say what you want about the XFL and this other league that is starting next year, but I am really hoping they both are super successful. The NFL is getting worse by the year.....
  21. OK....stop right now.... The Bills are not trading for a WR that was just caught on video doing things that.......well, let just say don't fit the process..... On top of that, even if there was no video, they are not trading for a WR that will demand 17+ million on a new contract. Just let this go. Not happening.
  22. Whatever gets me to 4 to get Darnold, Rosen or Mayfield. Praying Allen goes in the top 3 to anyone but the Bills.
  23. Any option that includes Allen is out for me. Whatever it takes to make sure we get Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfiled, I will be good with. Have to get 1 of those 3 guys.
  24. Actually, the real problem is that there is a real good chance he isn't any good......
