  1. Beane after dark? It is getting dark a lot earlier now........ That said, it isn't a ton more space, but even to make 1 trade, they needed to free up some space to absorb the contract. Would be a lot more excited if it freed up like 8 million! Who knows....maybe there is another restructure coming? Now we wait.....
  2. I think if he was healthy, he'd already be signed by somebody. The Chiefs or Eagles at least..... That said, we don't know. But, even if we assume he was healthy, I would have a tough time supporting that dirtbag. I guess if we knew he was 100% healthy, and we got Josh's personal endorsement to do it, then I would consider it for sure. I just don't see it happening either way, though, even though the dude can play and would probably help us if he was healthy. This is just one of those things as fans we don't have enough inside insight on to make that kind of call.
  3. Ingram played way too much. He was a liability out there. And I am fine now after 2 weeks with Hairston starting and playing all, but at least a majority, of the snaps. Same with Hancock. Let the kids play, learn on the job, and be ready to roll in January. The speed difference is so noticeable when the kids are playing. They need to be playing the majority of the time at minimum going forward.
  4. I'll simply refer to you the pregame thread where I said: "Alright guys....a Bills victory has been virtually guaranteed. Just placed the biggest moneyline bet I have ever placed against the Bills. So, I have done my part to try to bring us a win. Ugh....I really hope I lose the money!" You're welcome........
  5. Up until last week, and especially what happened in the game yesterday, I would have considered S as a target at the deadline. Not my highest priority, but on the list. However, after the injury to Hoecht and how well Bishop played, I am not in the market for a S by tomorrow. There are just too many other holes that are more glaring needs. Poyer is not great, but his presence seems to have settled the back end of the defense down a bit. Bishop has gotten better and better every week and yesterday was a coming out party of sorts for him as he showed flashes of the potential he has. Will he be that great every week at this point? No. He's still going to make mistakes and miss tackles from time to time. But you saw the promise and I am not going to get in the way of that. And even though Poyer can't keep up physically, he's always lined up properly and helping to get the other guys lined up and get to where they are supposed to be as well. What's even nicer to see is that Jordan Hancock is starting to get more run in there in certain packages that require more speed and he seems to be showing promise of his own. You throw Hairston in at CB and how great he has looked in his first 2 outings and I am ready to knock S off the list of priorities and allocating those potential resources to WR, DT, and pass rusher. I'll live with the growing pains from the kids back there because when they are all working together, the speed and athleticism difference in the secondary has been extremely noticeable watching the last couple games. They all need to be out there full time and let the kids make their way with Poyer and Tre taking on more of a player/coach role the rest of the way.
  6. Solomon is an interesting player. Undersized, but had a ton of production in college even if not at the highest level. He flashed last year as a rookie in limited playing time. I counted several times where he got to the QB, but just didn't finish. He just couldn't get the QB to the ground, but the pass rush itself was there. However, this season hasn't been the step I had hoped for. He was actually pretty bad earlier this year when getting a ton of run while we waited for Hoecht to get back. But, there was a big difference yesterday in the way he was used than how he has been used earlier this season. Until now, a majority of his rushes came off the edge and get was just getting swallowed up by bigger tackles. His speed was kind of negated by his size and tackles with length and he wasn't getting home. Yesterday, and you can see it in this clip, even though it wasn't a ton of reps he was put into the "Hoecht" role and rushing on the inside and I thought he had a bit more success when he did. I haven't watched the All 22 yet to see every rep, but on first watch, it seemed as though his speed and quickness was giving interior lineman fits in the limited snaps he had there. With Hoecht out, this is really the area they need to fill. Hoecht was very effective bullying guards up the middle and that's a lot of where he rushed from in the game and a half or whatever it is that we had him. So, that was his role. Lorenzo Alexander had a similar role when he was here and found great success as a pass rusher in the middle of the defense using his speed. I am not saying Solomon is going to be the answer there, but I do think if played in that role, you will see him have a little more success than he was having coming off the edge. But we'll see. He is still undersized for the role, but maybe his speed a quickness will be enough for him to make an impact there against guards that don't move as well.
  7. BINGO Outside of Shakir who they were force feeding screens to at the LOS, our WRs combined for.....wait for it...... 5 TOTAL CATCHES. Anyone defending our WR production in this game is out of their mind.
  8. And he did it without virtually any WR production...... Incredible what he did today with basically Cook and a bunch of TEs..... You could give him the MVP on that alone. The WR production, or lack thereof, is absolutely embarrassing. He's the best in the world in my opinion, but what we are doing to him by forcing him to do it without any WR help is just so unfair to him. And by us, I mean Beane. It's on him to fix it, but I am not holding my breath.
  9. Max again on the last play..... He needs to start and not come off the field.... Great game for the young kids today. But man, losing Hoecht just puts a damper on the whole thing. Quick thoughts now because I think I am going to be stewing on the Hoecht injury all night: 1. Bishop was great today. Sort of a coming out party. Wasn't perfect, but made a ton of impact plays. 2. The defensive line really stepped up. Now, a lot of that was because Hoecht was an animal again today and really changed the effectiveness of the line as a whole. But obviously, this will be the last time this season I will be able to say this because he's done for the year. And you saw it when he went out. He went down and the very next play is 4th and 18 with no pass rush. 3. Bosa was good today. He made his share of impact plays. Him and Hoecht really had things going up front. Going to need Bosa to carry the load the rest of the way and that's going to be tough. 4. Max, in limited snaps, might be our best CB already. We'll see what he does with more playing time, but man, I want the kid starting and on the field way more going forward. 5. On the exact opposite front, I don't need to see Ingram anywhere near the field going forward. 6. Cook was great again and our offensive line was dominant for a lot of the game. There is obviously more things that I can list, and I am sure all of you will cover them, but I need a separate section for this discussion. OUR WRS ARE STILL AWFUL AND ARE GOING TO BE THE MAIN REASON WE WON'T GET TO WHERE WE WANT TO GO. Yup.....the same as it ever was. It was the conversation going into the game and the game just reinforced it. If it wasn't for our TEs, we would literally have no passing game to speak of. Sure, Moore had the 1 catch late which was great, but that was the only play of note from any of our WRs today. Everything else was at the LOS and it's awful. The Chiefs figured it out in the 2nd half and virtually shut our offense down. We can't live this way and it's going to be our downfall in the end. I am not saying anything we didn't know already, but it is such a freaking glaring problem and Beane has 2 days to try and find some help. Needless to say, I'm not holding my breath especially after his infamous rant after the draft. Nobody's laughing now, are they Beane? You came across like a fool then and look like an even bigger one now because of our WR production now...... However, I want to shout out the TE group. The only group of impact weapons in the pass game we have. Great game guys. PS..... Happy about the win, of course, but until we do it in January, I refuse to get overly excited.
  10. Ingram out there again? What is this crap defense?
  11. Really doing my best to stay focused on finishing this game, but man..... that Hoecht injury really puts a damper on things. Gotta figure it out, though. Finish this and deal with it tonight and tomorrow. But we need a FG here because KC will go for 2 if they get the ball back and score. Gotta do it on this drive.....
  12. Wow..... Cook can make plays in the passing game. Who knew? First catch in 4 games.
  13. Brown taking Jones for a ride on that run..... Gotta finish.....
  14. Has been for both weeks he's been back..... Very promising start for the kid.
  15. Man, I wish we had a WR1 here to help finish this drive.....
  16. MAX!!!!!!! Welcome to the NFL, kid!!!!!
  17. 3rd and long.... Gee, I wonder what is going to happen here....
  18. Apparently Hoecht was our entire defense because we have been awful since he's gone out. He went out and the entire game changed. Sickening for us fans, but I just feel bad for the dude himself. He was going to be a household name very soon with the way he has been playing and all of a sudden we have to hope he comes back next season. UGH.
  19. The cart came out for Hoecht and the reports are saying it looks like an Achilles..... Just can't freaking catch a break......
  20. Just awful by McDermott on that drive. I mean, we've seen him give up tons of 3rd and 18s over the years, but that 4th down may be the worst ever. Just terrible defense. No coincidence though that Hoecht goes out and we stink again...... His loss is something we won't be able to come back from if it is for any length of time.
  21. Freaking defense just never can finish
  22. They are going to run picks all over the field and if that's not there, they are going to get a PI from the officials.......
  23. And our D line is now terrible again. We just can't have nice things.
