Basketball was my sport and I'm still a big fan, mostly of college hoops, but I have to agree the ends of games are killers. I think maybe allowing less timeouts would be one step. I definitely wouldn't go to this ridiculous soccer timing. You'd have an awful lot of buzzer beaters that only the ref would know is a buzzer beater!

It seems pretty close to it. And, I've heard that contrary to media reports, JK did chew. Although I'm sure not as much as a baseball player.

Holy crap - the guy that scored that second goal put on a demonstration that would only be made if somebody won the world championship in any other sport, not a goal in the first round of a tournament, with time left on the clock. I didn't think the guy would even be able to continue to play he was so emotional. His teammates had to grab him and say Dude, we have a game to keep playing, and yet he laid back down! Embarrassing.

The whole game is about offsides. I can't even imagine what it would look like if there was no offsides. BTW, the soccer offsides rules is another ridiculous rule in that sport. It would really open up the game if they got rid of that.

I read that a game yesterday (I believe) was "said" to have four minutes of stoppage time and it was six minutes in real time. It makes no sense. Meanwhile, in US sports, they are reviewing plays to put 4/10s of a second back on the clock. Meanwhile, I'm getting hounded by a bunch of soccer lovers on the other thread football vs. football. Didn't know this was the new thread to bring up these questions! Because that would make sense.
