The Vegas rodeo is huge, too and sells out solidly a major arena for two weeks. I think the Calgary Stampede is the same............The Houston one has a major concert act every night after the rodeo. I know country music is huge here, but yeah probably not rodeo. I just wonder if we can be creative enough to come up with something similar, maybe not quite as successful but a go to traditional event of a week or more. This is what this mainly is. Most women will not do it, even though they love the early games, esp. Opening Day.

I had an argument on twitter with Mike Harrington last year some time. I think they suck. Constant mistakes - he somehow claimed they do a good job. It seems like even the writer doesn't proofread the story. Last week, I was infuriated trying to read on the murder trial of the bar manager. They mixed the name of the victim and the defendant at one point, making it totally confusing. Then another article talked about "also on Thursday, the closing arguments" The article was on Wed. and I knew they had no closing arguments the week before, so I had surmise they really meant Tuesday. It's constant and frustrating. Especially when about key details. We need a rodeo! The Houston Rodeo will have Reliant Stadium or whatever it is called now packed for something like 18 straight days in March.

I'm the exact opposite. I bought my first SI on the way to NYC when I was 8 years old in 1970. Willie Mays was on the cover, and we saw him play the next day vs. the Mets - he was on the cover and they had a ceremony for him at the game because he just hit his 3000th. Say Hey - 3000! was the cover. I asked my parents if I could subscribe and there have only been brief periods when I have not been subscribed ever since. And, I've never really cared about the pictures, though I know a lot of people like them.
