  1. Yea if he wanted to be a GM why not hire himself in Detroit? I think he could do a good job as a leader, direction setter and cohesion builder but not sure he is a talent evaluator.
  2. Wow Rick must really have wracked his brains to advise on that one....
  3. I do expect RapSheet to know how to use a ***** apostrophe though.....
  4. Ideally you have both. But given a choice it's leadership, every time. I was watching Belichick talking the other day about becoming a HC for the first time and he was talking about being a coordinator being really bad prep for being a Head Coach saying basically "you are doing so much other stuff you get very little time in season to be involved in scheme."
  5. Just more proof that McDaniel is not a leader. The players do not see him as a leader. He can't hold the respect of the room. I say it multiple times every year, when it comes to hiring a Head Coach in the NFL Xs and Os are sexy, but leadership wins.
  6. I have no doubt at some point Brady will want that chance. I'd just hope we might get one more year out of him first. Especially, as I keep saying, with the market this year being even more full of bad jobs than usual.
  7. Also true. But that doesn't change the fact that the the "can't beat Kansas City" argument doesn't stand up. Hasn't beaten them in the playoffs is a fact. Can't beat them isn't.
  8. No other active Head Coach has as many victories against Andy Reid as Sean McDermott.
  9. And it is harder to get a hit peice published if you have to comply with editorial standards than a puff piece. One is inherently more risky than the other. But neither are good journalism. Indeed my career change came after I basically refused to write a puff piece and fell out with my bosses about it.
  10. They are puff pieces. Ty's article was a hit piece. I question the journalistic integrity of both.
  11. It was a similar process that led the Pegulas to Rex Ryan. They interviewed about a dozen guys all types no specifications... was a mess.
  12. That is what I hope. It is what I'd advise him too. I think the jobs open this time are all rough for one reason or another.
  13. The Bills could increase that. They could do what the Lions did for Johnson. Pay Brady more.
  14. I believe so.
  15. Sometimes people do, sure. But sometimes people don't. You have to let the individual deal with it their way. Everyone is different.
  16. I think Josh wins comfortably.
  17. But the AP all pro one is the relevant one because it is the same voters as MVP.
  18. Who at the time were four dysfunctional franchises. Two still are.
  19. Ken Dorsey is not as good at the job as Joe Brady. Simple.
  20. I think that is right on Brady. Both Brady and Ben Johnson are realistic "no thanks" guys to me. Because they can both be pretty confident of still being among the top names last year and as I keep saying, this year's market is stacked with bad jobs. I know that's always the case to an extent but normally there are one or two where you see a patch to win quickly. Not sure that is the case this year. Yea I've seen that too. It does make sense to a degree. The Bears want two things: 1. a leader; 2. a guy who can fix the offense. With most people the bigger Q is #2, with Johnson it's #1.
  21. The latest is Chicago and New England are the only places he will interview. Obviously Vegas only came on late... so maybe add them, though I doubt it. EDIT: was Albert Breer who had that report yesterday and then late last night Jacksonville apparently bowed out after originally requesting permission to interview.
  22. If we stayed at #9 I wanted Taylor Lewan to give us book end tackles. I liked Donald a lot but I confess I was in the camp of "do you want to take a DT when you have Dareus and Williams?" The answer should, obviously, have been yes. I wanted no piece of Ebron, Barr or OBJ.
  23. A hit piece does not have to be lies. I think a lot of what was in the article was a deeper dive into things that have been observable to a degree with McDermott. But it was a hit piece because it really made no attempt at balance. It was simply a "here is a list of all the bad stuff." As I said at the time, as a former journalist myself, if you were writing that for a proper news outlet you'd have been more restricted by editorial standards. You have the freedom in blog format to ignore the need to present any kind of balanced assessment and as long as it is well researched and well written (and think what you want about Ty he is a really talented writer) and not defamatory you can publish.
  24. They couldn't have stayed at their spot and taken Evans. He went #8 and the Bills were at #9 before the trade from memory. Evans was my guy that year though. He was, is and always has been a stud. He will end up with a gold jacket.
