  1. I was on about Kincaid not LaPorta. I think LaPorta is a willing blocker that just needs some technique refinement on that side. Kincaid is a guy you just have to encourage to get in the way.
  2. No I am not. You have no evidence. Watch every other Head Coach in the NFL with the call sheet. Every single one. Then tell me there is anything out of the ordinary with McDermott. Then and ONLY then do you even have circumstantial evidence. You don't know what you're talking about.
  3. No it isn't. That is such an incredibly flawed leap in logic as to be utterly ridiculous. Of course McDermott has the call sheet. Of course he looks at it. Like every Head Coach ever. He may even overrule some play calls - again, like every Head Coach ever. But he has only taken over playcalling once. No I'll accept evidence. You have none.
  4. No the only evidence I will accept is actual evidence. I know we are in a post-truth age but the meaning of the word evidence hasn't changed. What you have is conjecture based on your interpretation of a tv shot. That, I'm afraid, is not evidence.
  5. He isn't Gesicki, but I don't think I would describe him as a serviceable blocker.
  6. With the 45th pick in the Virgil version 2.0 Mock NFL Draft Extravaganza in the year of someone's Lord 2023.... The Green Bay Packers select: Sam LaPorta, Tight End, Iowa I considered corner here but Rasul Douglas was serviceable last year and there is enough depth at that spot that I'd feel good about getting one in round 3. Less so tight end. I think Darnell Washington and Michael Mayer are the two best fits for the Packers but they have both gone off the board. I considered Dalton Kincaid in round 1 but he isn't a scheme fit because he doesn't really block. LaPorta is a better receiver than blocker at this point, but there is no lack of willingness to block and I already have Josiah Deguara who excels as a blocking tight end, so I can help that side of his game develop. While this is a good tight end group I think anyone hoping to wait and get one any later than the first 10 picks of round 3 will be disappointed to have missed out on the tier of "possible starters." The New England Patriots, Bill Belichick's dog and his assistant @section122 are now on the clock!
  7. I wouldn't take him for our scheme personally, certainly not at #27. I'm not as high on this D Tackle class generally as others are.
  8. Jets and KC are more 4-3 though (although KC is pretty multiple). New England and Miami are better fits for him scheme wise I think.
  9. Almost certainly true that some of those assumptions will play out and some won't. Take an absolutist view either way is foolish. Much wiser to take a step back and think about which feel more likely and why.
  10. No, there is only conjecture. No substantive evidence. They are different.
  11. Boogie isn't even that close to Shaq. In his first two years he has had 11 impact plays if I credit his half sack as a full one for these purposes (interception, forced fumble, sack, tackle for loss). That is about one every 54 snaps. Shaq in his first two years had 15 impact plays. That is about one every 45 snaps. Over his career Shaq is about 1 impact play every 43 snaps, but I think fairer to compare their first two years.
  12. Boogie Basham does stink. He is not undersized though. He is a 280lbs defensive end. AJE was a 275lbs end when drafted too. He is down to 260lbs now which is still not "undersized". But neither were undersized players when drafted.
  13. I think you are right. My grades are not about where a guy will go it is about what I think his value is. And I'm trying to grade scheme blind, but I can totally see a way where in a 3-4 scheme (and we should remember most of Donald's success has been in that scheme.... it is a slightly easier scheme for those size "tweeners" to play in) his value is higher.
  14. Chargers at home. Josh's first start. 2018. The game where cornerback quit at halftime.
  15. McDermott has always been involved in the defense. That is different to taking over play calling. He did it once. There is zero substantive evidence that he did it more than once.
  16. I think we have to separate scheme from playcalling. I think the scheme will be very similar. But McD is a slightly more aggressive playcaller than Frazier. Within the confines of the same scheme I think McDermott is more likely to say "let's play pressure" than "let's play coverage." However, people can overplay the extent to which Leslie's defense was a "sit back" defense. They were 1st in QB pressure rate generated in 2021 and 14th in 2022. It's not like they were a bottom of the league group in that regard.
  17. He wasn't fired. He did step away. But he doesn't need to have been fired for your point to be true. When a HC takes over play calling it is usually make or break in whatever way it comes about. Correct. But some of them will tell you because they saw McDermott holding a call sheet and talking into the headset when the Bills were on defense that he did it multiple times.
  18. He is arguably the player I have struggled the most with in this entire draft. I do think he has a great first step, but I think he struggles to hold up inside and doesn't have the rush package to be a threat outside. I'm not sure what you do with him despite his athleticism and explosion. I have a late 3, because the projection is just too rich for my tastes... but he is a guy who if I was a 3-4 team I could easily see me liking a bit more than that. I think as 3-4 end is the best place for him to excel in the NFL. Not sure as a 3T in a 4-3 he is going to give you a lot early and you will go through some growing pains.
  19. Why does it? So long as the league continues to be profitable who would you rather the money go to?
  20. The barking at Josh was, somewhat, justified. And it is who Stef is on game day. He holds everyone around him accountable and emotionally he is still the alpha on that offense. He could see Josh was flat and he was trying to get him going. I don't see anything wrong with that. However, even I (as the biggest Stef Diggs fan going.... dating back to before he was even a Bill) think his behaviour at the end of the game was extremely poor. You can't respond that way. It was unprofessional and unacceptable. As for OTAs he wasn't at all of them last season either from memory. He flitted in and out a bit. It isn't that unusal for him. If he doesn't turn up at all during this section of the offseason that might be a bit different and more of a story.
  21. I have been telling you all offseason the relationship is strained and it has been put to me as "the honeymoon is over." People have kept trying to make a case that Diggs's frustration is with McDermott or with Beane and while I don't know that he isn't also frustrated with them the main source of his frustration at the end of last season was Josh Allen. I hope when we get to the mandatory portion of the offseason and Stef turns up and we get back to playing football they can re-find the rhythm and connection they have had in the past. That is what we need for the team to be successful.
  22. Really? Nobody. The same way as there is nobody I desperately want the Bills to draft there is nobody I desperately want Cincy to avoid. Just isn't that group of players in this class IMO. Kincaid was my vote in that I think an elite pass catching tight end with and elite WR and another excellent legit outside receiver would be dangerous... but equally I think their offense works better with a two way tight end that does both and in any event tight ends usually takena bit of development time in the league. Paris Johnson Jnr is really my answer here. But he will definitely be long gone.
  23. No I just classify them all as "edge" for draft purposes. It is like a catch all term. Within that I know who is a better fit as an end vs an OLB. But of you have an OLB category you also have to put a guy like Matt Milano there. And it makes no sense to be comparing him (as an outside off the ball linebacker) to an OLB who plays on the edge and rushes the passer.
