  1. I think Allen is good as a processor, but I don't think it is one of the elite traits that separates him. Burrow is the best processor in the league IMO. You don't have to be an elite processor to be an elite Quarterback. I don't think Rodgers has ever been an elite processor either, but his physical talent and elite throwing mechanics have always more than made up for it. And the Green Bay Packers model has been to always prioritise his protection over his weapons (to his own frustration at times, clearly). Of course you want to give Josh both - protection and weapons - I said before last season I didn't think wr had done enough in either camp and so it proved, but I think protection is the most important. My evidence is the film. It's subjective, there is no simple metric that proves or disproves - but not for nothing his most consistent season was 2020 (highest passing yards, best completion %, highest ypa, most touchdown passes) and it was also the year per pro football reference he had his longest in the pocket pre-pressure. I think it is the best oline he has played behind too (although whether that was talent or my theory that in empty stadiums with games already feeling soulless the NFL intentionally backed off calling offensive holding is debatable).
  2. They are certainly pick collecting and it is a new GM and a new HC neither of whom had any involvement in selecting Simmons. Maybe they like him, in which case it makes no sense. But maybe they don't? Remember Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott traded Reggie Ragland for a 5th without seeing him play a single down of football and then happily trotted Ramon Humber out there as a starter - and made the playoffs btw.
  3. And so what if someone takes Latavius Murray off your PS when they get an injury in October? Like genuinely - so what? I think at his peak Murray was underrated but now he is the definition of a ten a penny vet.
  4. Think Murray is a more natural scheme fit if you are looking for a mike but Simmons has been a much better play than Murray in the NFL so far. Both have struggled defending the run but Simmons has been a good matchup 'backer in coverage.
  5. Because I don't see him getting a jersey on gameday. Cook, Harris and Hines will be up one would think. Murray doesn't play teams.... so what are you gaining from a 34 year old back who is a healthy scratch?
  6. Disagree strongly on Murray. I feel his chance of making the 53 are less than 50%.
  7. Simmons at this point is a coin flip. But the talent and playmaking ability is there. He has shown that in Arizona too. They have struggled to find a fit but the Bills ask their LBs to do a lot different things to the Cardinals. In terms of a buy low proposition he is a good one. I wouldn't give anything big up for him but we have 3 6ths next year. I'd offer Arizona one of those.
  8. Who is the most talented football player that might be a buy low, high ceiling, linebacker?
  9. The two serious injuries were inside the pocket being hit. At least one of the two outside was him running from pressure. Answer? Protect Josh. I actually think that is more important than weapons. He isn't an elite processor. So he does need half a second longer than Joe Burrow or Mahomes but his arm and accuracy when he is set mean if you can give him that extra half second he is more capable than both of making chicken salad with chicken sh*t at receiver.
  10. Thanks Beck Water. I am just going to store these images somewhere for some *cough* private time.
  11. Derek Carr is way too low. Actually Herbert is a must watch tv guy for me too. I don't think he is as good as Mahomes, Allen or Burrow but his games always seem to have drama.
  12. I know they made some changes in between... but that doesn't diminish the point. The point is progress has its own peaks and troughs. Every NFL team is a different team each year. Every season is its own season. Take the Ravens where Harbaugh inherited a pretty good team in 2008 and made the AFC title game year 1. They then took a step back the next two years, losing twice in the divisional round including a battering by Indy, before going back to lose in a second AFCCG and then the year after ultimately won their Superbowl. You can do it by going the progress route. But you don't always.
  13. Okay there is much less here I would take issue with a lot of this is fair. The are just two things I'd say: 1. Progression isn't always linear. I was saying this after 2020 as well when a lot of fans were like "AFC Championship last year, Superbowl this year." It isn't that simple. The Rams made the Superbowl, lost and missed the playoffs the next year. Their step came 2 years later. There is a lot of randomness to the NFL. 2. I am not sure that I agree Beane was evasive. I think that is the wrong word. I think he was less positive than other end of year pressers. But I don't think he was evasive, he was honest about the limitations of what he could do to improve the roster.
  14. I mean Arsenal had the best roster. The Bills don't. But that Arsenal team probably underachieved only winning two Premier Leagues. And there is less randomness in the Premier League. It still isn't something I'd consider a bitter disappointment or a squandering. It just isn't how sport works. I am not telling people to be satisfied. I am telling them to enjoy the ride not obsess over the destination.
  15. Because the "it's superbowl or disaster" attitude just isn't a realistic way of approaching it. The Eagles had the best roster in football last year. They didn't win the Superbowl. Of course there are organisations who have had less than the Bills have now and won one. It is what it is. There is no perfect sciene to winning. You have to get a lot right and you have to have a bit of luck too. I am not admonishing any fan for being critical of mistakes the Bills have made. I have criticised them for plenty too. But when the analysis is no deeper than "we have Josh Allen and didn't win the Superbowl ergo season squandered." That isn't a reasonable way to look at it. There isn't only Superbowl or disaster.
  16. That is the mistake people keep making which is suggesting I have some huge confidence in the Bills and tell people they did everything right. I don't. EDIT: as for the Eagles I was the guy here saying Howie Roseman is the best in the business when he was roundly being blamed for "ruining" Carson Wentz. He is the best in the business.
  17. I have a few people I know well enough I can direct message. A couple of former scouts and a former position coach who are connected and then a few well connected prominent fan bloggers... like for the Giants and the Packers
  18. He is the bakup for Taron and Taron was the one guy back there that stayed healthy. He can't play outside. They could have tried him at safety at some point, for sure, but chose not to.
  19. He is inoffensive to me. Not sure he adds much value though. I'd prefer them to have Bucky on the desk with DJ or, ideally, bring back Mayock.
  20. The website and him as a person are by far my two biggest issues with walterfootball.
  21. I had a similar though but Beane ruled it out the other day and walked back the idea that Williams could only play outside.
