To me he looks like he is just a bit over eager and is coming up a bit early. Yes that is definitely how they have used him for the most part so far. But I think he would be in a better position to break one if he was getting to the right depth.
-
And he should be getting slightly deeper than he is on some of them.

I think, and I am sure someone will correct me if I am not, but I think a coordinator is only protected if they are calling plays. So Sean would have to give up play calling again. -
I think this is fair. I love Po and until the knee injury last year he was close to all pro level again. But I am not sure I'd have brought him back. To have two over 30 safeties both coming off injuries was a risk. But they'd have had to bring in a replacement if they'd let him go. And the safety market was so slow they probably felt like keeping the axis together at the relatively low price they had to pay was better than the rest of the market was offering.

Thad Lewis -
There is a doable out after next year but I think it only makes sense for the Bills if he adjusts his contract. If he cares about getting the most money then it makes no sense. If he is desperate to play for a contender the Bills could promise to give him another chance to cash in on FA after this season and void the rest of the deal. The only guaranteed money on his deal after 2023 is the $16.8m he is due as a 2024 salary. You would HAVE to think he'd make more than that as a signing bonus of he was a FA next March. The question then of course becomes how much are you willing to give up for a 10 or 12 game rental (depending when it happened) and I doubt that is a big enough haul to make it attractive to the Raiders.

Of course they have a say. But Brandon Beane runs the draft. He controls personnel. He and McDermott are very, very close. They are aligned on most things. But Brandon is accountable for personnel. Sean is accountable for how it is used. -

Who knew Thad Lewis was QB coach in Tampa? No because McDermott does not run the draft. -
Yea Erik is generally good at what he does. He just isn't very good at debating his opinions when someone disagrees 😁

Friendly reminder go and look at the Tower of London..... but don't pay to go in. Just a load of fake plastic attractions and actors pratting about in fancy dress. Save your money. Complete tourist trap. And while I am at it don't even think of buying fish and chips from the "traditional fish and chip" stand opposite. Just mushed up *****. Find a proper london chippy. If you are in the westminster / victoria / Buck House neck of the wood the Laughing Halibut is not far from you and it is one of the best chippys in London https://maps.app.goo.gl/Nh5MLnipgu3EPtEc6

By knowing the standard route combinations in the NFL and by comparing to what the Bills have run in the past. I think he is getting a little impatient and coming out a hair to soon on a lot of his routes which ends up him being a bit shallow on where he should be. It isn't a big difference but the precise margins of an NFL passing offense means it matters. Think he needs to relax a bit. Internal clock likely going too fast.

Rapp better be dialled in. At least he is a more natural replacement for Poyer. I do think it is a chance to bring Elam up. Have Lewis as your backup safety.
-
Agree with all that.... but on the open thing... he is... but I am not sure he is where he should be at all times. Especially his route depths as I have mentioned.
-
That is true. But there was more to it with Swift. It was a culture fit thing akin to the Bills trading Watkins. I did say middle of last season he was done in Detroit.
-
Johnson does know how to use his personnel very well. What is interersting is his passing scheme isn't particularly complex or creative. He knows what his guys can do and what they can't and he leans into it. The one concern I have re. Kincaid so far is he is struggling with his route depths.

I couldn't remember the exact terms. Thanks.

I think the caveat with DVOA is normally you gotta wait 6 weeks or so until schedules begin evening out before putting too much stock in it. Not that the Bills being #1 is bad.

I wish. Six weeks.
