  1. Beane and McDermott work very closely but Brandon Beane has control over the draft. He is accountable for the picks.
  2. Of course I realise that. Our problem is largely we can't get past Mahomes. Kyle Shanahan has the same problem just two rounds later.
  3. True, but there are graduations of backup. We currently have a bottom of the barrel guy.
  4. Swap the two teams divisions and leave everything else untouched the Bills have been to multiple Superbowls and the 9ers haven't made any.
  5. Not while the Pegulas are our owners. Shanahan tanked his interview here in 2015 when they hired Rex. They hated him.
  6. Kickers are a rare breed. Their performance year on year has a much higher variance than most other positions. I think the Bills should bring in competition and have a proper kicking battle but I don't rule out a bounce back.
  7. I still think Burks has some talent. I wouldn't give up anything major for him, but this is swapping under performing bad fit first rounders. I'm not sure they are losing anything in it either.
  8. There is a easy route to re-negotiation and a pay cut with Tre that realises basically the same cap saving as a cut. If Tre is willing to negotiate they should. If he wants to be paid at his current rate they have to cut him.
  9. Because our current backup is Kyle friggin' Allen.
  10. Yea that's mine as well. It does seem to be a pretty unpopular view around here but I'm with you. It looked painful for him to move let alone rush the passer. Take the L, save yourself that bit of pocket change and move on.
  11. Yea so would I. I doubt he can command the size of backup deal he had here before. But he is definitely better than Kyle Allen and so I'd be in on him if he wanted to come cheap.
  12. As hypotheticak trade ideas go it isn't the worst one. Dennard Wilson has just been hired as their DC. I don't know much about him but on the face of where he has been I imagine he will want to run some more man principles so Elam might be an interesting buy low option. Burks has been hurt a ton, I'd be interested to know where there patience with him is at. Don't think the current GM picked him either which always makes it easier to get a guy out of somewhere.
  13. Crikey. This place is worse the past 24 hours than the 24 hours after our playoff loss.
  14. I doubt I'll be here in 50 years.
  15. Yea cos I don't use phrases like "it's a man's game". Grow up.
  16. They were not all heavy man to man press schemes though. That just isn't true. Wade and Bill are really pattern matching schemes. Spags is a heavy blitz guy and lots of press Todd Bowles with the Buccs was too. There is just way too much scheme variety to group them all together. And the amount that they played man would differ greatly (I don't have the numbers in front of me) because those are not carbon copy defenses or anything close to it.
  17. Reid is the best play caller. Shanny is the best play designer. But Reid is a better culture builder and organisational leader (whatever people think of his culture). Kyle has as many losing seasons in 7 years as Andy has in 25. He isn't close to Andy Reid as a Head Coach IMO.
  18. There is a RANGE of schemes among those teams though. Trying to throw Spags in the same pot as Wade Phillips and them in the same pot as Bill Belichick is just basically saying "here is cover 3 / cover 1 zone and then here is everything else." Not all of those schemes were press man.
  19. He has done that by his play design. Not by his Head Coaching accumen. He is an all time great offensive play designer. He might be the the GOAT, he is DEFINITELY the best Quarterback hider of all time. But I don't think he is top 5 in terms of game management, attention to detail or in game adjustments.
  20. Just the way the QB market works. I don't think he will re-set the market but at the point he signs I think he will go top 5 AAV, yep. Daniel Jones went top 10 when he signed. Purdy has a lot of wins a Superbowl appearance. Just the way the market is.
  21. Yea MVS made a huge play at the end vs Baltimore too. He is a JAG but played well in those two playoff games.
  22. I think they have one of the highest ratios of elite level players, yes (as are the 9ers). And that elite guys and JAGs model is more proven than trying to be good everywhere IMO.
  23. They did not play a ton more man than us. They were overwhelmingly a zone coverage team. They held and committed a lot of PI. Do I think they were more physical than us? Yea probably but they were not a press man team. They played zone with DB with length and two safeties that had corner like coverage skills. It was extremely similar to the scheme here. EDIT: what I will say is there is an argument that the cover 3 / cover 1 scheme peaked in the last decade - Seattle x2, Carolina, Atlanta all made Superbowls and were regular playoff teams. The Jags ran it in that great year they had where they made the conference Championship game. Even the Bills are more hybrid now than they were. Although having said that the Eagles ran it in 2022 and were a lot worse when they transitioned away in 2023.
