11/2/25 GAMEDAY Bills vs Chiefs 4:30pm 1st Half Game Thread

Let's gooooo Buffallloooooo! -
The problem with play action is Josh doesn't like being under centre. I agree they need to throw to running backs more but the fundamental issue remains their skill players can't separate.
-
The Chiefs don't really play us in zone though. They did in the regular season last year - the odd day where we played more man and they played more zone - but generally the Chiefs run a high man coverage percentage against us.
-
If we were getting a first round pick, sure. We won't. Otherwise, no. Wouldn't change my mind at all.
-
This is the first serious injury he has had. That's just bum luck. Has he had some issued being nicked up, sure. But I don't believe he is injury prone. He is also when on the best player on this defense by far. When we are lacking talent I don't think trading that away is smart.
-
I agree with this (and we discussed in the offseason too) but I think Josh is also leaving the pocket too early more often this year, it's like he thinks "can't see a big play, let me extend and get outside and something might happen." He needs to trust what is happening a bit more, but the receivers need to get open for him much more often.
-
I agree with this too. Not a grand conspiracy. Partly offense design and technique. But I do think also just some officiating randomness that may well even itself out as the season goes on.
-
I got laughed at last year when I said he was a borderline top 5 back. And so I should have been...... I was way underselling him. James Cook is freaking awesome. Yea he has been the Bills best player this year. Zero doubt about it.

It isn't about optimism or pessimism. It is about tying enjoyment only to championships. That's not a healthy way to consume sports. I want the Bills to win a Superbowl as badly as anybody. But I don't not enjoy regular season wins in case they don't win the Superbowl. You have to enjoy wins in sport. Every single one.
-
Honestly how do people with that sort of outlook live? I genuinely do not understand it. Saying "I'm not gonna judge this team until the post season" totally fair. But to say about any perennial play off team that you can't even enjoy regular season wins.... I mean if you can't enjoy wins then sports are not for you. Because any team. In any sport. Over a lifetime as a fan... there will be a lot of losing and a majority of non championship seasons. If that means you can't enjoy it then go do something else.

He had a knee surgery. I don't expect him back quickly. -

Huge blow. -
That’s what the Defense could be right there

Same. The Pats might legit be good. The Falcons are inconsistent but talented. The Panthers are a bad team masquerading as average. -
I could not understand all the "I wish Bryce Young was playing" stuff earlier in the week. Anyone who watched Dalton when he played some games last year knew he is absolutely washed. Done. Toasted. He wouldn't pose a threat to a mid-ranking college programme. His pocket presence is pathetic.

Some observations and questions regarding the Bills passing game.
GunnerBill replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
He isn't faultless and he isn't playing his best ball right now. That's it. Every player has runs like this. Mahomes had had them (and guess what the Chiefs offense looks poorer when he does), Burrow seems to start every year like trash then magically wake up later, it's just really hard to be at the top of your game every single game in the NFL through multiple seasons. I don't think the oline has been as good in pass pro this year as the last two, I think the receiver issues are pretty well understood and Josh isn't as confident in things around him as once he was and it's just affected him a bit. I don't think it is like the end of 2022 and start of 2023 when his previous relationship was exploding and it was pretty clear to anyone who listened to him and watched him that at times Josh's mind was cluttered. This just looks and feels to me like a normal little period of middling form. No panic. At some point we will get the elite version of Josh and he will click into top gear. I have no doubts.
