Meh. I think he is a JAG but hopefully a cheap one.
-
You can understand that from the players though to an extent. They are frustrated and they know instantly who has played their assignment incorrectly. I give Levi credit that I have heard him talk about it twice since and he has owned it and not looked to shift blame anywhere else. But in terms of blame from fans in the aftermath I think he was spared because people understandably were focussed on what the strategy was from the point we scored rather than the individual technicalities of what happened on each snap.

I still think he is a slot. That is where I'd put him. I think it is where his skillset will be seen to best advantage. But I do think he can play some Z for you as a move receiver, as to distinguish him from someone like Khalil Shakir who is a pure slot receiver and you can't use for more than the odd snap here and there as an outside guy (to be clear I think he is more talented than Shakir I am just talking scheme usage wise). As for the comparison to Mitchell - I have them very close on my board. I have Mitchell slightly ahead but I don't have a big gap between them. It's not like I am here banging the Mitchell drum and being anti-Ladd. They are my WR6 and WR7. But I do think when I watch the Bills our needs are someone who can beat man coverage and who does most of their work downfield and they are not Ladd's strongest suits. If he goes to a Shanny scheme and they move him all over the show I can well imagine him being excellent. I don't think that makes him an obvious fit for the Bills.

If you have a franchise QB for 3 contracts you normally need to do two at least two mini-retools in that period. It doesn't have to stop you competing - and I think the Bills will win the division and make the playoffs again next year - but it does mean in the midst of that re-tool that you have a year or two where you are treading water rather than getting better.
-
I don't think I want to aim to be the Jags ot the Commanders weapons and while you are right on the Rams and the Dolphins I think those Shanny stretch zone offenses give you a bit more leeway. If a team draft McConkey and thinks they have drafted a #1 receiver good luck to them.
-
Yea that is what I think he is too. He is a Y/Z. I don't think he can play as an X.
-
I wouldn't be mad if it is McConkey. More perplexed.

I am where I have been all along I think with the exception of I think the odds of a trade UP reduced with the comp pick debacle. I think the most likely outcome is that he stands pat and picks the best receiver on his board, closely followed by he stands pat and selects Chop Robinson. I think the trade back is and remains the outsider of the bunch but I don't totally discount it.

Post Combine the big network guys already have good sources of information flowing. Okay that always refines as we get closer. But at this stage Id be surprised if there are many guys taken that they are not starting to have in that conversation.
-
I know it isn't the be all and end all but find me a reputable mocker with Legette in round 1. The creditable guys mock based on what they hear from sources. That's the job. And I am not seeing him turning up there which suggests sources are more consistent with the guys I speak to who think he will go round 2.

At the moment I am not seeing how we are better. Okay FA is only officially hours old and the draft is still to come, but I don't see a fast path to improvement. Where there is hope is in their best young players - Cook, Benford, Bernard, Kincaid, Torrence - taking another step. But they need that plus one or two good players breaking out... maybe Rousseau? Maybe Brown?

I disagree strongly. I think he is way better than Gabe. He is a 1st round grade and WR4 on my board. I do think there is some inefficiency in his release that can be tidied up and I agree that while he is fast he isn't sudden he is a long strider. But he separates plenty well enough at all levels of the field for me. Indeed against man coverage he separates at a better rate than most of the class. And then he is terrific attacking the football in the air. I'd happily take him at #28 and not look back. I do accept that the one year production and the age are legit concerns, but the tape is really good IMO. But I accept I am higher than the consensus. He won't go round 1 I don't think. But I am very confident he is going to be really good in the NFL. Basically this is what I see on film too.
-
Congrats to Dane. More than I expected him to get if those numbers are true. He is a lower end serviceable CB2 in the NFL and a guy you are very pleased to have as your "first guy in off the bench" type depth. If those numbers are right that is in 6th/7th round comp pick territory as well for those still counting along at home re comp picks.
-
Yea that's a no-brainer deal for a guy who played well last year in limited action and is a core STer on a unit where they have lost two key guys.
-
Pass on Williams. He is a slightly better Gabe Davis but the gap between them is not much.

Greg Rousseau 5th year option, extension candidate?
GunnerBill replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, sorry I meant that it wasn't a slam dunk that they pick up the option then sign after next season. I agree they will pick up the option. I think most likely they extend him after 2024. But a play out the 5th year isn't impossible. -
We met him at the Combine or maybe the Senior Bowl too. Bears watching. I'm with you. 4th rounder.
-
Yea I don't think he is very good tbh. Never have.
-
Didn't know he was still in the league. This should be vet minimum - hopefully it is just a fill out the 90 move (they did need some receivers for OTAs etc) and he doesn't make the roster.
-
I don't agree with him, but I think there is a germ of a point there. I'm not advocating being weak against the run or building a weak defensive line. I am saying seeking to build a dominant run stopping defense to force teams to be "one dimensional" which 15 years ago was absolutely something teams sought to do is no longer a winning strategy against the best Quarterbacks. Exactly.
-
Yea I liked him as a slot coming out. He was my top "slot only" type that year. Doesn't make a ton of sense though given they have Taron and in our defense he couldn't play the kinda hybrid nicklel/SAM role that Taron plays. If he sits out on the market sure I could see it later as a depth move on a vet min type deal. Didn't Von only break on actual Day 1 as well? I was at Cheltenham for the racing when it broke so that means it was start of the league year rather than tampering period. It broke like 2 hours before the league year officially opened but it was a day 1 of the league year drop.
