  1. Agree with that. The Bills have been a bad shotgun run team ever since Chan left the building. It is ironic. Chan's offense was at times 90% shotgun runs and screens and now the two things we can't do are shotgun runs and screens. Cook acounted for 5 first downs rushing on his 12 runs, and at least two of them were from 4 yards and in - short yardage up the middle runs. If you take out the one 5 yard loss (Quinnen Williams blew up McGovern and Cook never had a chance) which was, surprise surprise from shotgun. He was 11 for 51, 4.6 per carry and 5 first downs. The people saying "he isn't a #1 back" on the basis of Monday have nothing to support their thesis when you actually look at the plays.
  2. Yea the backups were in on that drive. They started with the 1s but when the Jets got their first 1st down of the drive they subbed them out. Presumably thinking they needed fresh legs. Then having just watched it back the two "goal to go" plays they brought Ed and Daquan back in at DT but Shad played LDE and AJE played RDE.
  3. I think it would take more than 2 weeks to make that move, but agree they have another proven vet in the building and so they won't just let it drag on if it proves more than a slightly sloppy night. And he wasn't terrible, but he can definitely play better and we need to see it asap.
  4. In fairnese the Oline was pretty good in 2020. It is the only year of Beane's stewardship I'd say that for and how much no crowds played in is a fair question but that line was top half of the league. Coincidently it was Allen's career year. I thought McGovern was disappointing. Not his best game. I still have hope for him as a signing though. Remember Saffold was good week 1 last year.... then terrible the rest of the season.
  5. Yea he did that was probably his worst snap... but even then it wasn't his guy that blew up the play it was Spencer's. I thought Cybo was definitely our best lineman on the night. Excellent debut from the big man and there were even a snap or two where he went 1v1 with Q and won the battle. That is one of the elite DTs in football. Promising. Very promising.
  6. He didn't shoot the wrong gap. He failed to get us in the right alignment. I am confident that is just time on task and fixable.
  7. Covering two gaps and tackling a player in space is all at the same time is not a "basic football fundamental"
  8. I think their difference is Erik is only counting run plays. Yea I thought he was quieter first half but second half he was excellent. No coincidence their TD drive came the one drive they had the entire backup line in.
  9. The Ed Oliver hate brigade aren't swayed by things like reality.
  10. I think this team with average or above QB play can make the playoffs. To win the division or make a run deep in the post-season it will need the QB to be elite or close to. If Josh plays like he did Monday for 17 games..... they have no chance.
  11. I mean that is just wrong. And Ed was dominant 2nd half on Monday.
  12. I would like to watch it.... but man Erik is so irritating. I'll give it a go and see how long I can stick it.
  13. Yea but it wasn't the root cause of the play. That was like your backup generator failing after someone forgot to switch the main generator on.
  14. I think they will give Bernard every chance. Kirksey is what I expected Klein would be.... their break glass in case of emergency.
  15. Correct but as I said straight away in the GDT thread a running back running off tackle should never have the corner be the only man in contain or the first contact. There was clearly an alignment mistake. Bernard got better at liming them up as the game went on. It is where no pre-season hurts him.
  16. He played better than expected and better than either Dodson or Klein in pre-season. The worst element of his game was actually getting the D lined up properly. Multiple times in the first half they were misaligned. But they were better 2nd half in that regard. I don't want to say he was good, that would be a stretch too far. But he wasn't a liability. If we can say that about the MLB 17 times this season I'd take it.
  17. I get that but he made three plaus where he cut outsids that Singletary would have been stoned for a loss on (Harris and Murray as well tbh). For this Bills offense I think the #1 thing they need from their running back is speed. And #2 is pass pro. I thought Cook did pretty was in protection. He has really improved in that regard.
  18. 5 first downs, fast and decisive to the outside and against an excellent front. They took Taron off the field mainly for Rapp to play a big nickel. Didn't love that.
  19. If he had calles timeout every time they were misaligned in the first half last night he'd have needed about a dozen. They were better 2nd half and getting things lined up is an area where I think Bernard needed those reps he missed pre-season. I am willing to give him some time on that.
  20. He did absolutely fine as the #1 back last night. Cook was far from the problem.
  21. I think we have a very good HC and am unsure about the FO. But ultimately none of that matters unless Josh sorts himself out.
  22. He has struggled the last couple of years with the Cowboys and then Cincy. Was a top RT pre-injuries.
  23. I get that but unless your plan is never throw..... I mean Allen was an INT waiting to happen on almost every drop back. Maybe they should have just gone, run, run, run, punt the entire 2nd half. And you might be right that might have been enough. But man oh man the QB was terrible. He single handed lost us that game. It isn't. Kincaid in the flat - 1st down. Diggs on the crosser - 1st down. Tries to fit one in to Davis in double coverage. And again we can talk if we like about the way Davis ran that route... but that get us away from why we lost. We lost because the QB made the wrong decisions. Time after time after time. It was EJ at Wembley level of terrible.
  24. I actually have some thoughts on Ken Dorsey big picture and last night more specifically. But I am not willing to get into them today. Because last night was on Josh Allen. And unless he plays better we are toast. Two of his three picks were into double coverage and the one he got away with to CJ Mosely was into triple coverage. You can have Bill Walsh and Don Coryell calling the plays and designing the offense. If your QB's decision making is that bad it won't matter.
