  1. If they wanted DeJean why trade down?
  2. Yep. I'm sad he went to Carolina. But stoked he got into round 1. If they can get any sort of production out of Bryce Young he is going to be a stud receiver. Also 28. You got Nix I took out of my final version sadly but not only did you disparage my guy Legette in this thread you also missed my other guy Morgan out of your mock.
  3. The days Bulldog is on by himself should be sent to a radio Hall of Fame. That is some historically bad and pointless broadcasting.
  4. Not sold on our ability to use him
  5. Yea. Every WR needs a Quarterback to throw them the ball ultimately. Let's see what Carolina looks like this year. I don't know much about Canales but I accurately predicted Reich would be a disaster.
  6. I disagree. I think the Worthy issue is only looking at the outcome. And I'm relatively relaxed about the outcome. It is the principle I question and I don't think that is fanspeak at all. It isn't cut off your nose to spite your face. It is about proper assessment of the risk. Is the risk of helping your biggest single barrier to success become an even bigger barrier to success worth the estimated value of your average 3rd round pick over your average 4th round pick? It being Worthy is kinda by the by to me. When they first traded up I actually thought "this could be a tackle" and I still didn't like it even then. Maybe they'd have got him anyway at #32. Maybe they'd have traded up to 29 or 30 or 31 and got him. Maybe another team would have traded in that kinda space and taken him. There are lots of total unknowns. But that is what you are trying to balance up in the moment. And personally with all that uncertainty I'd be take the more cautious approach.
  7. If Carolina can get the Quarterback working Legette will eat.
  8. The best deal might not mean the most compensation, that's my point. I think they had offers for more value but didn't want to move back too far because early 2nd is normally a WR frenzy. Dane Brugler's Rounds 2 and 3 mock has us taking: Ad Mitchell, WR, Texas Javon Bullard, S, Georgia Malik Washington, WR, Virginia I'd live with that for sure.
  9. Hadn't even thought about that. Good point. He was a 2nd wasn't he? Jesus what an awful franchise.
  10. Not quite what he said. He said it was the deal that made the most sense for the Bills. I actually took it as "we didn't want to go back that far." And I get that. You don't sabotage your own plan just to stop someone else.
  11. Interesting. I see it differently on Franklin (and I'm not as high on him as you) in that I think he might be their type. There is some similarity for me in him and Jordan Addison last years, slight frame, speed, separates even vs man coverage. There are some differences too - Addison's hands are better and he is a much better and more developed route runner, but Franklin can be used more vertically. But they loved Addison and I was told in no uncertain terms if he made it to them he was the pick. I dunno. It's all tea leaf reading at this stage but I think Franklin is their guy. They have done a lot of work with him, met him three times. I like your idea of trading down once more nor more than 3 or max 4 spots UNLESS their guy is AD Mitchell but I don't think it is. I think if the Bills were into Mitchell, DeJean or McKinstry they'd have pulled the trigger on them last night. All 3 are guys who could be the consensus have gone in the late first area. If any of those are your guy you don't mess about you turn the card in. Which is another thing that makes me think Franklin.... if he is who you have your eye on the risk in the two trades last night was negligible. Only 7 more hours to wait If they wanted Cooper DeJean would they risk trading back? He is a kind of unique hybrid type in this class. If he was your guy you don't risk someone else taking him because there isn't another guy with that skillset you can just fall back on. I might be totally wrong but after the trade backs I am confident it is not DeJean. I thought he could be in play at #28. I don't now.
  12. But we don't know that KC liked all those guys. We now know that Beane didn't like Legette or Worthy. So why presume KC liked everyone? I'm not saying the Bills had the power to stop KC drafting good players. Clearly we don't. I just as a matter of principle while they are our main competitor am not super pleased about helping them. I accept it helped us re-stock our day 2 cupboard. That's a plus. But overall the risk that you help them draft a difference maker isn't worth the value back IMO. And as @NoSaint says if it works out in the worst possible way for the Bills it will put major pressure on Beane.
  13. What if one of the other teams calling wanted Worthy? It isn't definitely the case that the only way to keep him from KC was to pick him. And I'm not even that fussed by Worthy particularly. I think he is another WR2 and KC has Rice and Hollywood already that I think fit that criteria (Rice maybe a lower end #1 I suppose, let's see). It isn't about the outcome so much as the process to me. My principle is I'm not doing anything I think might help KC.
  14. And we KNOW Beane had other calls. Do we KNOW that those teams were calling because they wanted Worthy? No. But the Chiefs was not the only offer. I don't buy the "the only way to keep him out of the Chiefs grasp was to pick him" narrative as though it is fact. It may well be the case but we don't know that.
  15. I am certianly not saying take a guy just to keep another team from getting him. But the same as teams generally don't trade in division I would try not to trade with KC.
  16. They could. Equally someone else could have traded into #28 (we know the Bills had other calls - Beane told us so) and other teams could have called Dallas, Baltimore, San Fran as well had Worthy still been there. I think it is more likely than not that they'd have got him anyway. But it isn't a complete given. And I do think there is a principle question about whether you should ever be in the market to help them. Put it this way, if he ends up a stud in KC l this trade will put some pressure on Beane. I don't mind the outcome, because I am sceptical about Worthy as a #1 receiver. But I think there are legit questions about whether as a point of principle it is the right process.
  17. I don't think it is a fact they would have got him regardless. Who knows where San Fran ranked him and equally I think KC was a bit defending themselves against that slew of early 2nd round teams who might have wanted to jump up and possibly they thought Dallas too (although as you know I always thought they were OL no matter what). But I do think more likely than not they'd have got him anyway at #32. Let's see what happens next.
  18. When you trade back twice at the end of a round it is because your board is cleared out of grades for that round. It was the same when we traded back twice at the end of the 2nd in 2022 before taking Cook and the same when we traded back twice on day 3 last year. Let's say he had a high 2nd on Pearsall and might have taken him at #32 it certainly would not have been the case that he was clear of the other options. They will have a ton of round 2 grades to choose from.
  19. I also am really a wait and see but in the absence of that I lean slightly towards no.
  20. Problem with the Aiyuk idea is what we have to do now to make room for it. I think the have to pull the Oliver restructure lever (which is fine) but then also kick the extra bits of can they left available on Josh and Von's deals. I am sceptical that they want to do that. Cos they have to fit Aiyuk before they can redo his deal.
  21. Wouldn't be my choice. I'd prefer it to Keon Coleman but it would not be my ideal. It is just where I think they will go.
  22. Agree on Deebo. It would be less than people think. He isn't a slam dunk difference maker in any scheme. A lot of teams wouldn't be able to use him the way you need to in order to maximise his talent.
  23. I actually feel less like it is DeJean here after the trade backs. If they loved DeJean they'd have taken him I reckon. I think it is more likely they take a guy who was not considered a pretty likely first rounder. Troy Franklin is my bet honestly if they pick here.
  24. 2023 was always going to hard to top. That was possibly my favourite first round of all time for drama, unpredictability and excitement. I wonder if there is something that correlates strenght of class and drama. In a stronger first round like this teams a lot more willing to wait and let the board fall. Not the same urgency to get up for a specific guy. Whereas in a weak class like last year where everyone agreed true first round grades were scarce teams were much more aggressive in trying to get "their guy" and maximise the impact of that premium asset in a shallow pool.
