  1. It will be interesting to see what they do. Let's remember, that in the next couple years, they are going to have to pay Wilson (who could have a SB = top QB money), Sherman (top corner money) and Thomas (top safety money). They are going to have some issues doing that. Edit: Okung will be coming due as well.
  2. Florida State returned 7 offensive starters and 4 defensive starters. That means half their starters left. It will be nice when haters quit making false assumptions because they don't like and want to give up on a QB after one season. Starters that left: Offense: QB EJ Manuel FB Lonnie Pryor WR Rodney Smith OT Menelik Watson Defense: DT Everett Dawkins DT Anthony McCloud DE Cornellius Carradine LB Nick Moody LB Vince Williams CB Xavier Rhodes DE Bjoern Werner
  3. I've seen some talk on here of drafting a RB in the later rounds. I love Jerome Smith of Syracuse as a guy we might be able to get in the 4th round or later. He is a big back that runs hard but also had good agility. He might not run the fastest 40 time, but I can't really remember him being caught from behind that often. I'd say he has good functional football speed. He reminds me of Fred a little. That said, would Marrone get murdered by public opinion for drafting his college running back? Can he draft any of his former players without backlash from fans? Jay Bromley is another good Syracuse player that could possibly be found in later rounds. He's a solid DT.
  4. Nice analysis. I bought in to the late round TE theory before, but it's hard to look at those numbers and not agree with you.
  5. Similar to the Rogers situation? So you're saying this kid will let every single player on the team work harder than him because he feels entitled to make the team without putting forth effort because he's so talented? Btw. How did they handle the situation with that Oregon player we drafted last year that also had a checkered past?
  6. ....ummmmm? Also, I believe it is "woe is me", not "whoa is me". Unless you are Joey Lawrence from nineties TV show Blossom. In which case, can I get an autograph? My little sister loved you as a kid. Whoaaaa!
  7. This thread is like Anderson Silva's leg break. As much as I want to look away I just keep peeking.
  8. 1/6=16.666667%. Mathematically it's much closer to 1/6. Go with 1/6.
  9. I'm not an expert on other UDFA'S but I'd bet he's right near the top. I think he rated out as the best nickel corner in the league or at least was a few weeks back.
  10. Agreed. As much as it stinks that we'll probably lose one, this is still a favorable position to be in. Choosing between two guys who could both be tops in the league (if Williams continues to perform) is better than not having one.
  11. I would disagree with your interpretation of versatile. I think Byrd is better at as of right now but the difference in the level of their play at safety was not that big. I believe Williams is much better at corner than Byrd could be. Byrd's speed would be a severe hindrance to him which was one of the reasons he was moved to safety. Williams was moved not because of athleticism but because his technique was lacking. I'm personally more confident when I see Williams lined up covering tight ends or 3rd/4th receivers than when Byrd does. But no one plays center field like Byrd right now. I hope we can somehow manage to keep both. Pay Byrd top dollar and try to get Williams locked into an extension which pays him well enough to be happy because my guess is he will outplay it.
  12. That is quite the Sophie's choice. Williams versatility might be better but Byrd is a game changer. Then again, Williams was a game changer this year as well and it didn't look like a fluke. Hell, Byrd gave Williams credit for one of his interceptions for noticing something on the play and keying him in on it. With it being uncertain on where Byrd's heart or head is right now, it almost makes me lean towards Williams. But then Byrd has been consistently great, the other guys love him by all accounts and he has earned a big contract. I honestly couldn't choose right now. Interesting thread topic though.
  13. Does anyone know the nickname given to the trio of Roberson, Patterson, and Johnson? They've said it in like five different games but I can't remember what it was. It's killing me because Google is giving me nothing.
  14. About seven years ago I went to a game with my girlfriends grandfather. I was 23. Some guys my age were doing the fun push your friend backwards over the guy kneeling behind him gag. I'd done it with friends more than a couple times at parties and whatnot. Well on this occasion, the kid getting pushed down accidently knocked my girlfriends grandfather down and he cracked his head on the sidewalk. Sadly he, and the kid that pushed his friend, ended up in the hospital and I ended up in jail. It was one of the more embarrassing days in my entire life. I now limit myself to a few beers on game day and actively avoid situations where it looks like the kids are too cool to realize they are just immature dbags.
  15. Could not agree more. He looked like a top safety this year. And he can fill in at corner if the team is desperate. I really hope they are proactive with him.
  16. Kiko deserves the Rookie of the Year award as well as every Americans first born child as tribute...just saying.
  17. In fairness to TJ, he did get open quite a bit. But, he did also love jump catches and getting in fights with the ball so you could be right. Maybe jump catches look better when they're wearing shorts.
  18. I don't think being cut is a punishment. I think it is a result of a number of different things. I loved Bryan Scott. I don't think that him being cut was a punishment. I think he just wasn't performing like they wanted him to. I feel Da'Rick was cut, not based on ability, but for reasons we can only speculate on.
  19. The only point I would disagree with is that I think injuries played the biggest role in his increased playing time.
  20. Don't know if anyone posted this already but Marrone getting rid of talented players is nothing new. He preached accountability at Syracuse as well. He booted his best WR (TB'S Mike Williams) during the season because he kept making poor choices. He was a proven college receiver that was a finalist for the Belitnikoff. It looks like he practices what he preaches (Crossman excluded pending reports to the contrary).
  21. I just feel a new thread is unnecessary when there are already numerous other Marrone threads which all eventually turn into Marrone sucks threads.
