No Evans, No Watkins in our future...
TDRupp replied to Spillnation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not saying I want him but how many times did Mario hit Russel Wilson or Capernick last year. How many times has anybody light up Wilson? The times he has been he was no less the QB for it. Wilson and Manziel are similar in their ability to make people miss, IMO. -
If they stay at 9, I agree. However, I really think they would prefer a WR (Watkins or Evans) to go opposite Stevie (Woods goes outside and Stevie in the slot with 3 WR's) than the OT and they can't count on one of them being there at 9. Alos, based on what I am hearing (no, no inside sources), I would not doubt them trying to get Clowney at 1 or 2 if he is there. If you feel you are getting a player more talented than Mario and is a perfect fit as an LDE in our new D and you "okay" with the intangibles (by the way, Bruce Smith only had "okay" intangles his first few years... his work ethic grew as he matured) he would be worth a few 1st's and other picks and/or players (Lawson or Hughes) IMHO.

You know, I am actually thinking the same now about Lewan. If those other 8 are gonw, I could easily see the Bills going with him at 9. I still think they would prefer to get Evans or Watkins for EJ. Or, if they have a chance to get Clowney and do it, they would feel he is an elite DE that would immediately make our defense championship level. That, with even just what we have now on offense, they might feel is enough to put us squarely in the playoff mix this year. They are "all in" on EJ and assuming he steps up a decent amount I tend to agree. A defense with Clowney (LE), K Williams (DT), Dareus (DT), and Mario Williams (DE) upfront and what we have already behind them would be pretty damn close to great. Ride a great D and a solid offense and special teams to championships a la Seattle & Baltimore. I say go for it! The last huge trade we made for elite defense (Cornelius Bennett) was worth it!

If Bridgewater does not go in the top 8, then it is almost a certainty the Bills will not get one of their top targets. My gut says he will drop to the mid/late first or second round. If so, these guys are off the board and the Bills would be happy with any of them at 9 except the QBs: Clowney Watkins Robinson Mack Evans Matthews Manziel Bortles I think the Bills value those above minus the QBs much more than Lewan or Ebron which is basically what they would be picking from and I wholeheartedly agree.

Predict Jairus Byrd's contract - $25 Amazon card to winner

5 years, $48.5 Million, $16 Million guaranteed. Not sure what team but I will go with Eagles. Correction to guaranteed money $19.5 Million -
Brandon talks with AP about Byrd's contract
TDRupp replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What about Cordy Glenn, Gilmore, and Aaron Williams? We need to address those guys in in 2 or 3 years and makes it much more difficult when you factor then in, right? can't keep them all! -

Problem is, it is REAL difficult to make a trade in late August for a player that wants a huge contract and can't sign one until after the season. This is especially true if you expect to receive the same compensation in the trade as you could get, all things being equal, before the draft or before training camps begin. It is even more true if that player has a lingering injury in late August. This is the catch-22 scenario that Eugene Parker is likely hoping the Bills see and instead choose to either pay Byrd top dollar or let him become an UFA. -

Actually, he said he was ready to play in a Week 5 in Cleveland. So, he was ready to play after missing 4 games and Marrone preferred he be a full go in practice all week with the mindset that he would play in week 6. The one thing the Bills have to weigh is whether they want Byrd even if he does not want to be here (at least on a one year franchise deal). Based on Marrone's comments about letting the D coaches go, they may choose to let him go. I think they should do all they can to sign him in advance of the franchise deadline and if they can't reach a deal try to get Parker to agree to sign the Franchise deal so they can workout a trade way before August. -
A couple dozen. Isn't that an NFL sack record?

Gibson interested in bills but bills never called
TDRupp replied to NishP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct. No franchise QB and no WR for opposite Stevie. Look for those positions at the top of the draft folks.... Maybe a value signing at WR. -
Incarcerated Bob to fabricate bills info

I rafted down the Colorado River from that damn dam last summer! -
I like Mayock a lot, but do not forget that he said Gabbert was more ready for the NFL than Cam Newton. He aslo said he thought Robert Ayers (Broncos) would be the best denfensive player of that draft. H e is GOOD, but not always right.

So what if he is going to help lead the transition to a new ownership group? A coordinating figurehead/PR guy that will bascially be helping commandere the group with a goal of building a championship franchise to win and stay in Buffalo. I think that would be a positive role that he could fill. You have to wonder what Jimbo told Mario last March. He could have been dropping hints about his vision. We will see, folks, but I am guessing it can't get worse than we have seen the last 13 years... and if it does, then we bottom out into a possible franchise QB with the 1st or 2nd pick in the NFL one year. Go Bills!

Start with 1 Jim Kelly and then add the Super Bowl winning touch of Joe Montana. Complete!

The Bill Curtain (Williams, Williams, and Dareus)
TDRupp replied to southernbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like that one but prefer no nickname or something simple like... "The Stampede" It fits Buffalo and hopefully it will fit the play of the whole D-line this year. -
Yo Oliver. I believe he lives in Durham, NC which is where I have lived since 1994. He was working at health and fitness clubs last I heard (10+ years ago)and may be a personal trainer. Google for the health clubs in the area and call them. Plus the obvious...checking LinkedIn and Facebook. Someone already suggested... contact NCCU as well. They may know.

Please give me whoever Nix takes. That is who I want! Go Bills. P.S. I voted for Gilmore

Yep. I was there and got on the field in time to get a helping hand on the goal post that was torn down. We helped it off the field and others carried it up and handed it up to the upper deck. They got it up and threw it right over the upper deck deck after making sure all below where clear (I just remember them waiting for 30 seconds or so). The crowd that was remaining went nuts! Cool part is that it was hacked sawed and my friend's brother who came with us got a piece of it in the parking lot. Shared a small piece with each of us. Mine is my sons room on a cheap ass chain. Those were the days! Cool beans! Mine is about 3/4" diamond/square shaped.

I voted for Fred, because he was a top5 NFL MVP candidate when he got hurt. That said, I say wear CJ out these last two games! He has held up well in the last few games, so lets see IF he can handle 22-27 touches. What is there to lose? Then we know what he is capable of heading into next year.

I agree 100% about SJ being off balance not not able to do much to prevent the Int. The arm failing was looking for a Flag for unnecessary roughness or defenseless player after the Safety popped him a little late and he confronted him. CB already out of bounds with the ball. Nothing Stevie did wrong on that pick. I want him back too. That said, I am wondering if he did not run a good hard slant that Vontae got earlier when the Safety blitzed on causing Fitz to unload quickly onto CB arms.

Is that really you Carey? If so, my wife Diane worked with you at KB in Cary, NC, remember?

Byrd's call was weak... it is hard for the refs to get those perfect. Although I am a little happy that Vick is taking a beating, I find it hard to believe how the ref does not throw a 15 yard flag on the NYG De yesterday! Vick is a QB, the hit was borderline late and definitely high...no way refs can miss that. They would have thrown two flags (late ang high) if it was Brady, Manning, Rodgers, or most any QB. I do not see Canty's hit on Vick as fineable but the league should make it clear to officials that it was a penalty.

Nice Stat from Bills Daily........
TDRupp replied to Buffalo Mike1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are winless in 15 of the last 15 against the Pats and in each case they lost. -
Hey, I am super pumped and enjoying these first 2 wins. You should too. I also think an 8 win season.would be a great step forward. Looking at the.schedule I se us with 7-9 wins. Give me more and it is all gravy. I'd be shocked if they do not win 7 though. Go Bills!

I disagree with him (Greg G.). He lists 4-5 success QB's not taken in rnds 1-2 and only 1 has won a SB. Brady. Hassellbeck came close others have not even gone to playoffs (this is omitting Warner since he is retired). Personally, I think we nerd to draft a franchise QB in round 1 when opportunitytunity presents itself. Being that we are at 3 in 2011 and have a good chance to take the #1 QB ... Buddy will decide if a franchise QB is there and if so will take him and let him learn for a year. If Fitz pulls a miracle and takes us to the playoffs in '11, maybe he sits for two years.
